  • @dwendt44
    @dwendt44 2 года назад +2

    The Mazda filter has no ADBV, not needed here, so most all oil will drain out of filter.
    I ALWAYS change filter first, less messy. I also fill the filter with oil to reduce chance of dry starting. My 'maintenance minder' was set wrong by dealer. I reset to 5000 miles. The Fram UG 7317 fits great-it's a better filter. Magnetic drain plug installed. IF necessary, turn over the drain plug gasket and re-use. I know, they don't like that but the engine doesn't care and it works.

      The Mazda OEM filters are made by Denso and are very high quality. There is one other filter I like, which is the MicroGard Select. Whip City Wrencher did a video on this filter and found it to be extremely well made. Personally, I buy my OEM filters at my local Mazda dealership for around $12, but the Microgard is cheaper. Either way, you can’t go wrong. BTW, I forgot to mention the Premium Guard Extended Life filter available at O’Reilly’s, which is the same as the MicroGard Select.
