    Thanks for the tips. I like using two strands when making blankets. I am definitely going to use the bead trick to keep the strands together and my yarn on the floor. I save the large disinfectant wipes containers to hold the yarn I pull from the middle.

    I have bought two different brands of very fine weight 100% cotton unplied gradient cakes to make a triangle shawl. Both brands have 4 strands of unplied yarn and the pattern calls for a size 4 needle, so it is fine work. I pull from the center and use a bead to keep the strands together. I am a perfectionist and as careful as I am, occasionally one of the strands separates from the other 3, leaving a stray loop in my work. This drives me crazy! I have tinked several rows just to fix one tiny error!
    I made one shawl and gave it away as a gift. I think there were 2 or 3 stray loops that after blocking no one could possibly notice except me.
    The shawl I am making now is for myself. I was determined not to have a single stray strand. I am 1/3 finished and looking over my work I found TWO! There is no way that I am ripping back 20 rows so I will just have to live with it.
    Does this ever happen to you and if so how do you deal with it? 😢

    • @YarnZombiee
      @YarnZombiee  Год назад

      I know what your talking about and it is aggravating. What I usually do is - if I notice it in time and the pattern allows, gently pull the offending loop up and clear of the work so it is visible, work the rest of the row and when you are on the next row and approaching where the loop is try and catch it in and underneath the stitch above so it pulls in and becomes as invisible as you can make it. I hope you understand what I mean ? I don't suggest cutting and joining as then you have ends to deal with and a knot that can work itself out. The way I suggested will allow you to keep going and blocking after you finish will help too. I think the loops are caused by how the yarn rolls across our fingers and hooks/ needles as we work and with unplied gradient yarns the twist uses the individual strands unevenly. Good luck on your shawls.

    I bought a yard like that at the Pasadena, yard show last fall or winter, and I finally opened it up and started pulling from the center. It didn’t have a bead. I’ve made the biggest mess you could only imagine and I was trying to wind each ball separately and I’ve looked online to find out how to do this and couldn’t find anything. Click the picture of the mess I made to send to my friend and she said I’ll be over in five minutes to help you and then all of a sudden I turned on this video that you have and it’s like oh I wish I’d seen this about two hours ago.

    What patterns do you suggest for these? I can't find anything on Ravelry for some reason. I have a 500 yd gradient large sport from River's Edge Fiber Arts our of Michigan. Can't find a thing. Would this gradient look alright with the pattern Hitchhiker?

    • @YarnZombiee
      @YarnZombiee  5 месяцев назад +1

      Most of these yarns equals approx 4 ply or whatever the weight system you use where you are, I personally haven't made the Hitchhiker pattern but if it's a shawl pattern made in one piece it will work fine. Most shawl patterns work well with gradient yarn.
