Judging from Paul's commentary one might conclude that the Cox family has a long history of cool cars on their memory lane!
You know your old when you remember seeing most of these cars and trucks on the road all the time. My first rig was a 63’ Carry All. I learned to drive in a 51’ ford pickup. With a flat head 6 that thing was a tank.
Thanks for posting young lady.
The wife and I enjoy watching.
Thank you for your support!!! - Chad and Stacie
makes me sad to seenall those beautiful vehicles just sitting there. but, they are his memories and i get that.
That last grn pick up is awsome body style. Hopefully that slacker Paul does something cool with it in his spare time .
My first car was a 1953 Pontiac. Had a straight eight. Paid $75.00 for it in 1962. The motor mounts were shot and if I gunned it the engine would wobble and the glass bowl on the fuel filter would break. I kept a box of them in the trunk.😅😂 oh! And was a three in the tree and it had the Indian head on the hood that would light up when the lights were on. Lots of room inside to haul everybody around. Painted a big sign on the trunk lid. “I may be slow but I’m ahead of you”
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Good old days, they were
Yep I see gold in them hills.
52 or 53 they had a push button on the old door handle for the old chevy. At 5.24 it was an oldsmobile strait eight.
3:10 My first car was 1978 Celica ST. lime green, called it the "toad". Too bad it burnt up. To me that car screams FREEDOM!
For the time they were a pretty cool car especially compared to everything else coming out of Japan.
A trip down memory lane. I have been watching Paul for a while and every time he goes there for a parts run I am amazed.
The three speed in the trunk at the seven minuet mark is an AMC Warner T-14, it would/could have been OE in any of those two Hornets or the three Gremlins.
I could’ve watched you walk around these vehicles for hours.
8:05 the El Camino is a '72, the first Impala is a '70, and the second Impala is a '63. And at 5:19 I'd love to get my hands on the '68 Impala between the Pontiac and the '59 wagon.
My friend and I bought a'66 Impala SS 427 but no motor. He had a 427-425 vette motor, unfortunately he got married. May have been a '67. It had badges and a hood like a '68 SS Camaro.
I'd love to walk around in a place like that. All those kind of vehicles have been crushed for more than 30 years around here in Ontario, Canada.
i miss those 70's stering wheels
That was great. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That rusty block sitting on the ground looks like a Ford Y-block. Maybe a 292 or a 312...
And the Chevy Station Wagon is a 59- batwing fins and sideways teardrop lights. 58 Wagons had single small round lights.
I agree on the motor after looking at the video again.
Yes I totally botched the 59. The 59s are waaayy better looking than the 58s.
That’s a 71 el Camino. I had one during my high school days , I restored it & drove it for yrs . I think the 72 had duel headlights
Thanks for sharing 👍😀
Thank you for watching!
Excellent video Some Collection
Paul, I always called the wrap around windows a knee banger.. LOL!
I love those old yards that you can wonder theough and see such terrific old cars and trucks too cool
Definitely awesome I want that 66 suburban
My sister had one. Metallic blue with a white vinyl top. Only 400 were ever made. Cellica
Chad I absolutely love walking threw wrecking yards to see all the history from before my time!! I just hate when I see that people destroy stuff when trying to get a part or just while they are walking around and looking!! And there is definitely not two wrecking yards out there that are the same!!! Every one is different and with all different kinds of history!!! It’s just to bad that not everyone that needs a part or something can just get what they need and not destroy 50 other things while trying to get there one part that they need!!! Chad there is definitely one really cool yard around me that you would definitely fall in love with because it’s a yard with 50 years of 1967-1972 Chevy and GMC pickups, blazers wnd the suburbans!! The guy was a really big fan of them when he and his dad was younger and he would buy the trucks get them fixed up and sell them and after so many years of buying and selling them I’m pretty sure he has at one point in time owned at least 60 to 75% of all them and sold them!!! He’s got any and every part for one that a person might need also!! Definitely an awesome yard!! He’s even got plenty of other stuff also!! I can’t remember exactly how many acres it is but it’s like 150 to 250 acres of nothing but older vehicles along with some newer vehicles also over the past 10 to 20 years!!! Definitely something that I wished I had!!! Lol!!!
I never knew a straight 8 in-line on a Pontiac truck good to know 👍
The '58 wagon is a '59. The ElCamino is a '72. The split parking light was '71.
Good call!
You are absolutely right! I didn't catch that when we were editing. Thank you.
@@chadsfab I can't manginess doing these video's, one minor error and the weight of the internet falls on you. I really enjoyed this video, I'm very limited on my walking and I'm afraid my days of exploring wrecking yards is over, I miss it. I remember the late 50's and yards full of stuff from the 20, 30 and 40's.
I intended to say Chad and Paul, I was taught to call the wrap around window a knee banger.
We call them a knee knocker.
In my high-school auto shop class we put a Chevy 350 in a Chevette the driver and passenger seats were in the back seat. Terrifying car that haul butt LOL. It didn't last tho for various reasons.
My favourite amc was the American eagle.
Awesome video Chad! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
I remember some of those old cars!
Like a preview of heaven
I hope so!
Beautiful cars & trucks.
Cool wall thru history.
Great video! I love the ending words!
Thanks!
Easy Rider Rifle Rack was still a common sight with the class of 79. My classmate drove his granddads showroom condition 409 Impala to school.🚙💨🚓
I graduated in 91 and it was still semi common to have a gun in the rack.
Nice 👍
Thanks!
Kind of hard calling that place a junk yard. Had some very cool vehicles there.
Isn't the station wagon a '59? At 5:55. It has that "stoned vampire look." I saw that once and I could never forget again.
It is a 59! I had a total brain fart right there.
Thanks for posting this. Wow, that is a nice break from that wiring harness!! There is treasure in that place. Interesting, my nephew has a business in North Dakota pulling cars out of farmer’s fields and parting them out or selling them whole. Lots of good parts going around the world. He has saved a lot of vehicles that otherwise was just going to sit there and has helped many a customer find a missing piece.
Glad you enjoyed it
I love the 58Chevy Apache. Drove one for a guy I worked for as a kid. 14 yrs old, driving all over, working on the farm. Never could afford one, and now they are worth more than when they were new. The one I drove was a pickup, painted Mint Green.
people in my area had a collection like that till local government made them clean them up ...I have a small mower collection started again .. had one years ago over 30 till the village got after me ,, love the old cast lawn mower engines ..thats when stuff was built to last .. cars / mowers built now will not be in fields like this ..there not built as well as the old ones .. a drone view would be neat of the old yard ..yes it is a field of gold ..
👍👍👍👍👍, A stroll down memory lane.
Chad I have a 51 you are correct sir!!!
And he never sells a thing ! What a Shame ! Some could be saved and put back on the road ! Anyway . Nice video . Thanks for sharing !
Thanks for watching!
Gold, gems, savings accounts... Rare, & ever fewer. Especially for us up in the rust, most are long gone... Thanx for the tour !
This was like a walk down memory lane for me!
I worked for a company that had one of those Chevettes in their motor pool. The last person out the door each day got stuck with it. Damn thing stranded me at least three times! The other 40 or 50 cars in the pool were Escorts and a whole lot more reliable.
Then there was the early 50s Chevy pickup. I had one of those for a year or so. One of the weirdest vehicles I ever owned... Slam the passenger door and the AM radio would come on. The vacuum operated wipers had A mind of their own. The front shock mounts kept shearing off, so sometimes you'd sit bobbing at a red light until it turned green. A hot mess of broken parts and DIY repairs, but it always started and drove. The only good parts on it were brand new tires, including two side mounted spare... But it was a 6 window, so I made a profit on it selling after only a year! (But would make a whole lot more today, if I'd kept it.)
Someone I worked with had a 4x4 truck a lot like that International... Lifted and totally restored in red and white. I think it was a long bed, too.
Then you hit me with the early 70s Blazer. I worked at a big Chevy dealership in 1971, during the summer before my senior year in high school. Several of us were the "prep crew", responsible for cleaning the cars up for delivery when they were sold. We HATED those Blazers because the plastic roofs all leaked badly in the car wash and we would get soaked. Absolutely everything on them was an option, other than the driver's seat and steering wheel. Seriously... floor mats or carpeting, all the passenger seating, even spare tire and jack were "dealer add-ons".
One of the guys I worked with at that dealership had a pristine 2-door '57 Chevy.... I think I saw a couple of those in the video. A couple I knew had a pair of 2-door '55 Chevy wagons. His was black and hers was white.
Oh, I also had a VW Beetle (64, utterly stock and reliable) and a Corvair (later model... '65?) I saw a few if those in the video, too.
Now I'm going back to the video to see what else I recognize.☺
👍The blazer hard tops are a nightmare to deal with!
I'm glad the video was enjoyable to watch! There was so much stuff there that I didn't get a chance to talk about or see. He has a section of the 'good stuff that I didn't have time to see. i hope to get back and video that and maybe talk to the owner and get some of the stories as well.
Lots of history with those old cars.
That's cool that Paul had a family connection to some of them.
The stories are probably more fascinating than the cars themselves.
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
The El Camino was a 72. The 71 el Caminos had the center chrome divider on the front marker lights.
I hope to one day remember the difference.
@@chadsfab 🤣🤣🤣lol
My dad used to have a 1949 Pontiac Silver Streak with a straight 8.
My first truck was a 71 chevy sort wide bed Super Sheyenne
Very nice!
A blast from the past...... Some neat stuff!!
Chad, what you called a 58 wagon was actually a 59😄
yep, I totally botched that one.🤤
😎🇺🇸
Wait, hold the phone, did Chad just call that 59' wagon a 58'? OMG!!
yup I did. I know it's a 59 and yet somehow it came out 58. I guess I was a little excited about it all.
Dang, thank you for such a great video you gave me so many flashbacks of me growing up northwestern Montana with all those different vehicles! I just wish hope and pray that someday I can get another old vehicle with really good patina to turn into a four-wheel drive so I can get up before I live at God bless you all
Some are very restore able 👏. Thanks for sharing 👍 🙏
When I see some old cars or trucks , I think and day dream what I could do witch them.
Just dreams now. At least I see you dudes one utube doing things I would love to do.
👍👍
17:27 - Yes‼️ Have seen glimpses of the older vehicles on Paul’s channel, but not up close like here on your channel. Seems the folks who hold onto these vehicles is for their history, (reminders of a different day / time, a person, etc.). Thank You.
I really enjoy you and this son working together
chevelle had split front marker lights in 71 the 72 had the full one piece
One day I will remember!
I must be old. 😁 Pontiac was a 1948. Pontiac had straight 8s through 1954. '55 was the first V8. Interesting fact, Canadian Pontiacs up through 1958 were built on a Chevy Chassis which was shorter than the American model and never offered the straight 8
Thanks for the info! I had no idea the canadian cars were that much different than the american ones.
@@chadsfab I was 9 when we took a family trip in dad's 6-cylinder '58 Pontiac from Ontario to Florida. I remember a stop at a gas station along the way when the attendant opened the hood to check the oil. He was quite surprised to see a Chevy orange engine inside, so much so he called out the other mechanics to come have a look. He asked my dad why he changed the engine. Dad told him he hadn't, that all 6-cylinder Pontiacs in Canada had that engine 😁
@@Oldenroadie That is a cool story. Thanks for sharing
Wow, what a blast from the past, so much cool stuff. Thanks for sharing, now I can stop drooling and get back to work.
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Chad , that wagon is a 59 .
yes it is! I totally messed that one up!
Hey Chas and Crew That was awesome thank you 🙏🏻 ❤️👍✌️💪🏻
Our pleasure!
Cool tour of all the stories those cars hold
Oooo, there are some nice fixer uppers in that lot!
I loved the very last remark in video! So true👍😎
Thank you!
It amazes me what some people have stored up everyone has there tresures these where cool thanks for sharing
Awesome video, I can watch this all day, absolutely would love to spend the day at a place like that. Keep up the great work, I will keep dreaming of running into a place like that.
Well done sir. I think I've driven most those cars when I was a kid.
Right on!
Would love to see you guys get one of those to restore or build a cool off roader.
Geo metros were the go to car for electric conversion. There were off the shelf plates to mount your motor to the transmission. For awhile wete actually going up in value due to the demand
Watched Chad work on Ed's Golden Nugget, Matt's recovery, Paul Cox Fab rats and others.
Love your channel and always learn something watching you folks.
Thank you!!
Chad is so right in that
Those cars are awesome. Thx for the tour.
Glad you like them!
Am I the only one who had the Beach Boys pop in their head when you saw the Impala?
Nope! I was singing that song in my head the moment I realized what it was.
Some cool cars in that yard. the old suburban would be my pick if I could get one.
My first car was a 1950 Pontiac silver streak with a straight 8.
Very cool!
You ask Paul, Who is in the guys Will? lol
A trip down memory lane, I’ve actually ridden in One of those silver streaks, I think it was a 52 model, those seats were couches!!!!
What an amazing car! I had never seen one in person.
Thanks for sharing. What an adventure.
I've only seen what is on the hill top. I didn't know there was another lot that contains the real treasures. By you sharing this clip you have brang back many memories and some insight into what Chad and the boys do other than just work.
Stay safe healthy and happy 👍
👍🙂
Some cool cars and trucks. Chad isn't old enough but there weren't many days in High School I didn't have at least one gun in my back window. Sad part of that story is what time has progressed to. I live in the country now, but if I go to town with a gun in the window someone will be calling the police saying that I am going to do a mass killing.
It wasn't unusual at all to see guns in the gun racks when I was a kid.
@@chadsfab Since you seen that you probably started every day in school with the Pledge of Allegiance and History taught American pride also boys used the boy's restroom, and the girls used the girl's restroom.
@@jeffwomack5821 and we started the day with a prayer!
The Chevy wagon you called 58 was a 59, fins
It is a 59 for sure, I just had a brain fart while looking at all of the cool stuff.
I wonder if anyone ever tried to make one car out of several to see if they could get it running ?
That might be a fun contest for a few of the RUclips mechanics.
The Chevy wagon you looked at was a 59, not 8. We owned one.
Yes it is! I messed that up big time!
Have you been to the junkyard up in Wendell Idaho? 160 acres of old cars and trucks.
I have heard of it but never made it up there.
@@chadsfab it's worth the drive. Guy has some high prices, but the joy of wondering around the yard is free and priceless.
The engine block in the weeds looks like it could be a Ford Y block. They were used in the 50’s until about 63. They were 272, 292, 312 CI. The early Thunderbirds had them. There are some cool cars there that could be built but I understand how people want to hang on to there collection. Sounds like he didn’t spend much money on this collection as Paul said people just brought them there.
My first thought was a y block ford or a 318 poly chrysler but I wasn't sure.
Wow I used to own that exact same model pink grey trailer. just saying...I lived in it for years.
I just wish we had places like this in the Uk the government killed of yards like this and the one's witch Paul has, a great video thank you.
Think that Chrysler is a Valiant, possibly the Canadian model called aa Cygnet
Love the content!!
Thank you!!
Yep, very nice lot. Total waste of iron, unless you deal with Fab Rats, Chad and Robby to bring them to life
I don't think these cars will ever move again. :(
No what you mean getting away from wiring, that's why I liked bikes, minimal of 7 max of 15 ish, but that was when I was younger in the 70s to late 90s and then they made it hard, I live in New Zealand
👍
Pontiac Silver Streak looks like a postwar model, no later than '52, because they went from that style hood chrome to a 5 chrome band design. Engine will be either a straight 6 or straight 8, although it sounds like you guys pegged it as a straight 8.
The straight 8 is what caught my attention, I didn't know they put them in Pontiacs until I saw that car. I would like to see one in original condition.
That station wagon you guys were looking at is a 1959 Chevy. (not '58) :)
Yes it is! I missed correcting myself during the edit.
Like a little kid in a toy store 😂 it’s ok I’m the same way
