- Watch ADCC Live: bit.ly/2019ADCC... | Some call him mysterious, some call him a genius but just about everyone can agree that John Danaher knows his jiu-jitsu. If not by the athletes he's coached then by the way his approach to grappling has transformed the sport, the Renzo Gracie black belt's influence is undeniable.
In this hour long interview Reid sat down with John to talk about his approach to training for ADCC, the future of leglocks, Galvao vs Pena, advice for Ben Askren and so much more!

Whaaaaaat? Flograppling giving us free RELEVANT content? I must be dreaming...
haha so true fuck flo and their pay wall
@@t-bone7988 i think flo would make more money just off marketing and advertising because its anooying as hell to get clickbaited all over the internet for 12.99
@@leandro0720bitch yeah it's frustrating, like i get it, it's a private company they set the rules and they also need to make money "that's how business works" yadayadayada. But damn just chill out a tiny bit, like throw the dog a bone here and there
It looks like the interview was made much earlier than we think.
@@L_cca right like they dont even put out enough content to get me hooked. like drop a nicky ryan and uriah faber and then ill drop the 12.99 for the rest of the shit
Roger Gracie subbed all opponents at ADCC in his division and absolute. Goat
but was it his debut
@@daduhafanai8273 Which makes him even more of a 🐐.
I remember when his nogi game was Questioned...lol. Roger is the best gi and nogi ever (P4P, Marcelo is tied).
@@FormidableOne it was his second run, either way he is one of the best to ever do it. Dudes a weapon
i remembered when people said gordon only had leg locks lol
John Danaher’s vibes is samurai warrior like. Calm, clear, sharp, and ready yet deadly yet humble.
Basically the true essence of jujitsu.
Professor x like
Note this was from July - Gordon Ryan’s knee is healthy and Garry Tonon is in for ADCC 👀
also i think nicky is back in 66
S H he didn’t injure it in July lol he injured it in like February or January
@S H dude literally everyone in BJJ is on roids
@@theclawyaww3740 I'm not, but yeah aside from me I'd agree 😉
@S H No Shame 🤣
Finally the people at Flo have realized the smartest way to make your website/business grow....is to release amazing content for free.
This was also recorded over two months ago... clearly the editing nerds that make their videos still suck...
Whenever I have sleep paralysis, I see this man in different rash guards sitting on the foot of my bed.
J.D has to be one of the most switched on, considerate, knowledgeable persons I have ever listen to
John. A systematic wrestling/takedown instructional and a grappleboxing/positional control specifically for MMA would be really cool.
Khabib and his father have some good semimars look on youtube
Abu Durum John taught me quite a bit of what i know. His knowledge of takedowns in the open and against the wall are next level.
@@champlife6353 Yeah Ive seen them.
@@StevenStranglesPeople I believe you. He has the mind for analysis so even if he were to talk boxing without having been a boxer I would take what he says seriously.
Also you have a great channel with real shit in there. Not low pct. bullshit "cool moves".
@@AbuDurum thanks Brother
He jinxed Gordon in this. He said you can get food poisoning 2 days before the event, then he got it 1 day before.
Indeed. He also says you may break your thumb. And Gordon had his whole hand crushed
I agree, Nick Rod's quote is great, hilarious!
"I don't remember too much about that arm trap stuff, but I know one thing: if I can lock my hands anywhere below your eyebrows, I'm gonna strangle you unconscious."
I saw the video length and I wondered "Does he answer four questions, or only three?"
Best shit ever hahahaha, good one dude.
Well done Reid Connell. Excellent questions Reid Connell. Nice hair Reid Connell.
Things I am always down to:
My opponent
Jiu-Jitsu Yoda Interviews
"better to take your wins and move on to something new" powerful shit
JD gives the best answers in interviews. All Detail and knowledge
Very good interview with lots of depth.
Just got my tix for his seminar in LA
Awesome interview 😀
It's okay Reid take your time with the question.
John is pretty intimidating lol
32:25 the lig lacks
#DanaherKnows hats off to you sir for what you've done for Jiu Jitsu. Can't wait to take a flight to New York and train in the infamous "Blue Basement"
Great video but I cringe every time the interviewer says “Exspecially” instead of “Especially”.
What a valuable interview..
His skin color tells me he never leaves the gym.
John's eyes are burning a hole through dude's head everytime he mispronouces "especially".
😂😂😂
Expecially when he puts so much emphasis behind it...
23:54 "eXspecially"
JIU-JITSU YODA STRIKES AGAIN
I never clicked on something so fast😆
Love the video
What's crazy? John said someone could get food poisoning two days before their match and that's exactly what happened to Gordon Ryan.
Can we edit out Reid's bumbling, stuttering questions?
just stop.
Crazy how John was counting Gordon out because of the fucked knee. Guy went and grabbed double gold. Now imagine if that knee was 100%
I'm the realest dude on the internet.
Ok..
I believe him yo. I don't know why but I do.
He's legit this guy, I've seen him on other videos, always keeping it real
13 people don’t like the term “figure of four”. No respect.
John Danaher is the Einstein of jiu-jitsu
jakisa emma Einstein was a joke... he was an actor dude was a thief and his “theories” are bullshit...
Does he keep saying ''ECspecially''? Wtf.
When was this filmed? I understood that Gordon is participating from the man himself.
I think this was originally recorded in July. I remember seeing at least part of this before. like others have said, Gordon is now going to compete, Nicky is back down to 66, and Garry tonon is taking the 77 slot.
👏🏻
Bravo
the way danaher looks at people who pirated the dvd 11:21
Is the pirated version even out there?
@@andrii5054 yep..
I can imagine him reading bedtime stories…
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I don't see why they let anyone but Reid do interviews. He is hands down the most fluid and actually asks poignant questions. The others at flograppling leave a lot to be desired however.
I-I-I-I d-d-dont kn-kn-kn-know about that
ECKSPECIALLY
19:59, thank me later!
A deep dive into the Nikola Tesla of BJJ
doctor Danaher
Must be an old interview that they just uploaded.
ECKspecially? Bro what?
roger is the goat submission artist in ADCC submitting like 8 cunts to win in 2005. Debut doesn't mean shit sorry Gordon but still impressive.
gsp thinking about returning to MMA.. is he going to spank daddy bear for us?
This stutter that the interviewer has is killing me
debut
Dayboo
Interviewer seems a little nervous, chill out bro stop stuttering lmao
Hes in the Lions Den, what do you expect bro

Btw even if Nicky doesn’t get HYUGE, if he respects the principles of strength training he can easily get stronger than the big guys. Most of the BJJ guys aren’t even squatting 405 for reps and that is very easily achievable to someone with even poor genetics.
Squatting that much wont transfer to grappling, its irrelevant
He should stop working with Danaher and get a strength and conditioning coach to prepare for this upcoming ADCC
Jcream101 I may be biased because I came from lifting to BJJ, but I honestly have no trouble maintaining a 405+ squat just through programming really flexibly.
scarred10 come roll with me
@@antufcti he should stick with danger and do a very basic strength program.
24:35 Muay Thai doesn't have a definitive world championship.
Neither does boxing. I don't think striking allows world championship tournaments. When the match between two top strikers ends, they are done. They can't get in the ring again for a whole match until they heal. Lots of damage. Probably even concussion. Not smart to do that
@@adrianarroyo937 Kickboxing has had tournaments in both K1 and Glory. Also, Muay Thai guys have hundreds of fights over the course of their careers so it wouldn't be a huge stretch for some sort of Muay Thai tournament.
@@zyphos9444 I get what you're saying, but probably should be done over a month timespan, or something like that. I thinkore than a fight per week would be too much. 3 or 4 fights in a single night has been done, as you say, but I think they don't do it anymore. I guess it's too dangerous
