    Naturally, the owners/partnership who would have leased this jet surely would have done their market analysis and bit the bullet with whatever their Business model is to make this investment. Reasonably, I dont believe that it will be operating from SVG. More than likely it will provide a specialized charter service wherever the business calls for it. What it's landing albeit empty has done is test somewhat the specifications of the AIA which it was built to accommodate. The next aspect is to see how it takes off. Whatever the business model, I want to big up the principals of One Caribbean and pray for safe operations, you were the first to land the iconic Boeing 747 in SVG. A historic milestone achievement!!! Never believe I would have lived to see this happen. To God be the glory...

    If the use it for charters only and special flights it would be worth it, however due to the size of the aircraft, length of runway I see it being weight restricted for takeoffs if they can fill all the seats and cargo space. A full plane equal profit. It would make a good cargo plane for the Caribbean. Transport cars, large equipment and other cargo needed quickly rather than waiting on a ship.

    • @TrinispaceTT
      @TrinispaceTT 5 лет назад

      Except flying to Caribbean airports will be too short for this large aircraft that is really designed to fly on long haul routes. Having it fly over sea will increase the wear and tear of the aircraft and may force these investors to put out more money to maintain it.

    So Apparently this plane was purchased by the Vincentian airline "One Caribbean" investors? While it's cool to have a 747 land on the island for the first time, it doesn't exactly seem like the wisest investment. There's a reason most North American airlines focus on smaller jets rather than jumbo jets.

    • @AsshurK
      @AsshurK 5 лет назад

    " Thanks for the water salute, but we just washed her this morning!" Liked the video. A few suggestions, to improve your videos. Use a wind buffer, when possible. If you had started filming, when the B747 was much closer, you wouldn't have had those cuts, and the view would have stayed sharp, as it did while landing. I liked everything else. Thanks.

  • @jstuttgart

    So Fly Jamaica could barely full a 200+ seat 767 and 757 in the off peak with good routes into JFK and YYZ. How's One Caribbean going to full a 400+ seat 4 engine behemoth. Also for those who said the landing was good, are you blind. It missed the touch down zone for that type aircraft and was using all braking mechanisms down to the very end of the runway. I'm also willing to bet it was empty. That could be the crew, which begs the question is rnav/gnss approaches operational or an ILS? I wasn't there so I can't say if there was a crosswind component but that was not a good landing. Fair at best.

    • @TrinispaceTT
      @TrinispaceTT 5 лет назад

      Exactly. Air Jamaica, BWIA and its successor Caribbean Airlines have all try it when flying to London or other European destinations, of course, using widebody aircraft. Think about why Air Jamaica and BWIA don't exist and Caribbean Airlines ceased operations on that route. They should of at least codeshare with British Airways or Virgin Atlantic because there's still a good number of Caribbean nationals in London. So the market is there but is how they're handling it.
      Well looking at the video, there were slight crosswinds as the aircraft was landing. If you were to look at the airport from the map, the runway from start to end, is facing northeast wards which means it can face westward trade winds which will create crosswinds for any aircraft landing at the airport. There's even videos where aircraft would use the other end of the runway to takeoff because of these winds changing direction.

    • @jstuttgart
      @jstuttgart 5 лет назад

      @@TrinispaceTT So are you saying the airport was built with the prevailing wind being a crosswind? Hmmm interesting, if that's the case. Are the other airports built to have the prevailing winds be headwinds?

    • @TrinispaceTT
      @TrinispaceTT 5 лет назад

      @@jstuttgart Most airports in the Caribbean are built facing eastward or diagonally east (west to east) which is better for any aircraft landing or taking off because they're going against the same wind i was talking about.
      Going against the wind will help create lift for the aircraft, especially when taking off. Once you create lift, it would be easier for the aircraft to fly.
      Sometimes these winds could change direction, if that's the case then aircraft would have to take off from the other end of the runway, once they're going against the wind.

    • @jstuttgart
      @jstuttgart 5 лет назад

      @@TrinispaceTT I get all of that I was asking about the other airports in the country. So based on what you said this particular airport is built in a manner 40 degrees and 220 degrees where the prevailing winds will almost always be a slight crosswind situation. Hmmm interesting.

    Not that i'm trying to be so negative but this venture in having a small Caribbean airline operate a large aircraft like a 747 on a route that is hardly sufficient from a business perspective is not gonna make sense... or money. I'll be more worry about these so call investors on how they would deal with loses should this venture fails. There's number of reasons why most Caribbean carriers can't substain their profability if they operate a widebody fleet on long haul routes that may not generate enough loads especially year round. I feel whoever set this up only make it seem laughable.
