I believe the "accumulation of power" the emperor didn't want was the Usoma and Kyoka's blood lines merging to produce children of enormous power that would put them above and beyond the imperial family. Typical story of those in power doing anything to keep it, no matter who they hurt.
Definitely in the top 2 of the season for me. I love the fact the the anime added the segment of her learning to walk in a western dress. That is a detail that most really wouldnt think about, and it fit so well within the episode to me since I'm an anime only.
Background: The Usuba family supernational powers is consider the most rare and powerful in the plot and it appears that Miyo powers have awakened when she touched the stump of her mother's cherry tree and her mana transferred into it. My Hypothesis: Arata's comments about the large cherry tree was in a reference to his knowing that Miyo's powers have awakened - my educated guess is that Arata is part of the Usuba bloodline dedicated to the Emperor and he is related to Miyo so he can feel her powers... since the Usuba family powers are psychic in nature. Uncontrolled, the Usuba family psychic powers has a side effects of creating nightmares and can be mentally overwhelming but when a Usuba clan member can master them these powers can be used to control others like puppets or linkup with other like Usuba members and jointly do things together which make them dangerous to be around. Hence, the emperor wants control over Miyo.
Another in a series on My Happy Marriage, by The Chattering Magpi and this review was truly lovely and wonderful. How one can be so disgustingly happy leads to many interesting reflections. This is a first for me in following an expert reviewer and laughing out loud about an anime that I have never seen. But I can see it through the Magpi's Eyes. Look forward to the rest of this series of reviews!
Arata's line about it being his duty to protect "her" (I'm assuming it's Miyo he's referring to) is legit sus and creepy. If it truly was his duty to protect her.. where had he been all these years? And why doesn't Miyo even know about his existence? 🤨
After typing my previous comment... I'm suddenly reminded of a vampire/immortal character I once read about before. In vampire's case, he had discretely integrated himself into the MC's life whilst simultaneously silently "protecting" her in plain sight by assuming different disguises and roles throughout her life until the moment she finds out that he is in fact her biological father. The circumstances behind this father and Arata aren't even remotely similar imo though. The only similar thing about them is that they both assume its their responsibility to protect certain females in their lives. 😅
My guess is that Arata is part of the family Usuba bloodline which is only remotely related to Miyo but that once Miyo's powers have awakened he could connect or feel her presence. It feels like the cutting down of her mother's cherry tree is linked to the suppression of Miyo's powers
@@ResidualSelfImage hmm.. there's some flaw to that theory. 1) if cutting down Miyo's mom's sakura tree is the key to awakening her powers... then shouldn't she have already shown her powers from a young age? 2) there was a scene wherein an old dude told Arata something along the lines of her powers will soon awaken... so that means they've probably already known of Miyo's existence for a long time already imo.
The only problem I had in this episode was that they should have emphasize more on Miyo’s declining health. The fainting just came out of nowhere. The anime only scenes was a nice addition to the story.
One b biggish thing missing in this episode is that every night Kyoka sits by Miyo's side holding her hand, as that seems to ease her nightmares.
