I became a fan of Ride in 1997 when I moved to a little island outside of Stockholm to be an au pair, at age 18. You could get tapes out of the local library and I remember taking a Ride album and a Salad (anyone remember them?!) album out repeatedly and listening to them on my Walkman as I walked the families dog by the lake. Such happy and simple memories!! I am 45 now and still love Andy Bells voice. ❤
I saw you play this with Hurricane#1 at the Astoria Tottenham Court Road (on Wed 22nd October 1997). It's funny how chance meetings stick in the memory, but at this gig, after the encores, and as most people had filed out, I went to the public toilet (stage left) and saw you in there finishing a waz - drunkenly I said "Andy, I last saw you here with RIDE supporting The Mightly Lemon Drops 10 years ago (actually in Jan 1990) and you said "Oh, and I suppose we were shit then too!" - "erm, no" I replied, thinking you'd probably not enjoyed the gig much, "please sign my ticket" which you graciously did. I've kept it to this day. And that's my 'Meet Your Musical Heroes' story. Thanks for the guitar clips, much appreciated.
