💀 Hey Skeleton Crew! Let us know which song has the most , which song has the most , and drop the time code of your favorite licks! Oh, and say hi to if you see him ;)
I have several Hofners. At age 67 the Fenders got backbreaking. The control knobs are tricky and backwards but set right the Hofner has a mellow thump you can’t get out of many Bass.
Finally someone putting the Ignition through its paces! It’s gonna be my next bass. But dig this: I’m gonna pull the frets off and add a piezo pickup under under the bridge. I’m wanting to have a pseudo-double bass sound as an option. I’m excited to hear how my experiment turns out.
@@ericlayton8888 I did buy the bass. But a tech I generally trust said the piezo pickup probably wasn’t worth it, that they don’t tend to sound that great. He’s more of a guitar guy though, but it gave me pause. I was pretty broke at the time so opted to scrap the whole idea for the moment. I might do the fretless treatment some day though
You'll be amazed by the change in tone and resonance if you remove the foam strip from under the bridge. The foam is nothing more than manufacture protection of the finish and is indeed meant to be removed!!!
I'm not sure if it sounds is better, but I think this bass is better with flatwound strings.I think people like to buy it for that Beatle sound first of all,it made for that!
Good morning I have an Ignition purchased this year I find the electronics of the switch panel very correct Do you absolutely have to replace it with the German Höfner Switchpanel HA2B-PC model to get better sound ?
Enjoyed your video. I've been very happy with this bass. It is about the only electric bass I can use when playing with bluegrass people without getting stink eye. The quality is very good for the price. I think if I were a professional bassist I'd get a German made model. I liked it so much that when I came across the 6 string version (Model 459) and got one. Like the bass, it is good quality and sounds great.
wow, finally someone who can make the cheap one sound good! I also think the black one is the way to go, since the sunburst looks super cheap. Just one question: Did you leave the foam under the bridge, and if so, why? I hope you do read this one ...
I'd love if it were full scale. I have long arms and it feels weird, but I love the lighter weight on my shoulder. AND it looks absolutely gorgeous especially in black. If I had a bit more money I'd get one, but right now I'll just have to sit a watch (or bug the guitar store again haha)
Hello, Nice review ! I'm looking to buy this bass but I would like to know if the colour is really Black or more dark Brown chocolate because it is what it looks like on official photos... Can you help me ?
I am always wondering why there are so many presentations, comments, tries, … on the Ignition model and so few of on the HCT Contemporary ? Yes the last one is a bit more expensive (less than 300$) but by far so luch better ! And for a few additional investment (200$) you can transform the HCT and get the same sound than the original which costs 3 times the price !
Because, the HCT model has a sound block inside and the ignition/icon is a hollow body just like Paul McCartney bass and both are similar in sound. the HCT looks identical to the 500/1 but has a more modern contemporary sound, instead of old school beatles style sound. Nothing can beat the original vintage 500/1. all the german built Hofner 500/1's are made in their custom shop.

Might leave, or replace it, for some types of reggae.
Great that the bass and drum can hold a band together

wonderfull sound....
Jayme - Which Strings are you using on this HOFNER ? Great Video !!
According to.hofner it's a full hollow body, not semi hollow as you say in video!
I'd love if it were full scale. I have long arms and it feels weird, but I love the lighter weight on my shoulder. AND it looks absolutely gorgeous especially in black. If I had a bit more money I'd get one, but right now I'll just have to sit a watch (or bug the guitar store again haha)

The original was a hollow body, that's why tjey buy them,Macca's one is hollow body!
@@niallchurch2679 yes, but the HCT is also a hollow body 😊, and imho by far better in terms of quality and sound 😎
@@shogoonp.bechler4601 As I said before Hct isn't hollow body,it has a big plank of wood down the length of it!

Wow, that's totally lost in the mix🤢
