@@wisconsineaglesfan7925 Nah when you get to that size of compressor they are actually built to last longer. I give it at least 10 years. 20-25 under the right conditions. It's just those small cheap ones the common person has, that gives up within a couple of years.
Does anyone else appreciate the fact that he remembered where his warranty card was 52yrs later! I don't know how you spell organization but I'm sure Hank Hill would be proud! (Damnit Bobby!)
FYI, increasing tank capacity doesn't mean the compressor won't work as hard, it just means it won't work as often. But when it does run, it will run longer before it shuts off. The only real advantages are immeasurable power savings due to reduced motor (FLA) startups and longer periods between having to hear the darn thing run.
It depends on if the compressor motor was a single phase motor or a three phase motor. But either way, less starts = longer life. The single phase motor will have a set of contacts in it that drops out the start windings after the motor gets up to speed. These contacts wear out, so the less that you use them the longer they will last. If it was a three phase motor, then the motor starter is where you will get the wear. So there would be a definite savings for the starter instead (you wouldn't have to replace the contacts in the starter as often).
What no comment. this guy is shop is amazing. By the way loved that he took the old compressor storage tank and plumbed in to the new compressor tank .😅😅😅😅
I had a similar experience with an old craftsman compressor from the late 70’s early 80’s. I had for about 30 years. One day it stopped working. I got really annoyed and was complaining to my wife. She thought it was something I had just bought. When i told her it was about 30 to 35 years old she bust out laughing. She told me to stop being so cheap and go by a new one. I said a new one will only last till im done paying. Needles to say i still have the old one. Waiting till the day i can find a motor to replace the old one. The replacement compressor sucks.
My dad has an old compressor from the 70’s that has an old constant velocity 1 horse power motor with little oilers over the shaft of the motor, has to add a little oil every month but it still works fine.
My big mouth brother would help me when he was off college in the summer. He told a few customers that we supply a 30/30 warranty. Yep warranty expires 30 steps or 30 seconds after we got paid. One guy didn't want to pay us. Told him that I am licensed electrician who did not ask for a deposit but told him that I wanted to get paid when the job was done. Guy still refused so I started removing the circuit breakers that I installed and told my brother to set the extension ladder up because I was going to remove my service cable, meter can & circuit breaker panel.
My friend 's dad had a old General Electric fridge in his basement that he bought when the house was new in 1968...it's still there and it still works....that's getting your money's worth.
It would be tough to find products in any sector today that will last 52 months. Guarantees seem to be a thing of the past replaced by limited warranties. And just try to contact them for support. 52 years almost makes it family, sorry for your loss.
That reminds me of a line from a song called "Jesus and John" by Bruce Haynes that says "he thinks the older cars are better then the ones they're making now"
This reminds me of a few years ago when my toaster quit working.... Cheap piece of garbage! I only used it everyday for 27 years, 5 months!!!! Cost me $8 in 1990! I wish they made things to last! 😉😁
What's scary is i believe thats a Kellogg American compressor pump and I'm using one just like that. Surprised he couldn't find a motor. I've replaced mine at least 3 times over the years. I think i got the last one on ebay for 350.
Unfortunately that new one wont last 52 years. Amazing shop.
52 months maybe.

😂🤣. I don’t know how many times a day I yell., “ DANG it, Bobby!” 🤣😂
Nothing is better than old tools/equipment. I HATE buying anything new these days. It's ALL junk
Wow 52 years that was a good peice of equipment
It was a good one. 😊

You're likely to be money ahead by taking the old motor to a motor shop and see if they can rewind it.

Thank you! 💯💯
That duck tales sweatshirt is at least 35.

Old compressor built from the armor of an old WW II battle ship.

That’s so awesome!
@@lisaschoolman4708 It really is...Old is Gold is what people say...and it's true...nothing today will last even 10 years.

So true! Thank you! 😢😜😊💯
In this new age of profits and nothing else...longevity can now be removed from our vocabulary. 😫
Dorey? Lol "that's the only air compressor I've ever known" 🐠 thanks for sharing 😁✌❤
I turn 78 this year. Having the perspective of time is generally a good thing.
New one will last 5 or 2 years. Not 52. Plenty of motors available of all sizes so I don't understand how one couldn't find something suitable?
Yeah, he's right! It was supposed to last for 101 years

💯🥰😱
Why not rebuild the motor????!!!!!!!!!??!?
Old guys know how to find stuff to last.
💯💯💯
I want a refund on my 1973 bug. the headlight went out....
I had the same brand compressor. It ran one cycle and melted a plastic part they saved money on that should have been made out of metal
This reminds me of a few years ago when my toaster quit working....
Cheap piece of garbage!

Took my 98' Chevy in for some warranty work the other day and they gave me lip over it.

Is this your dad in the video? I have a motor and compressor that he may want to
Yes. He is my dad
That Ingersoll Rand won’t last long either with that Indian pump..... should have bought a Quincy.
