Tip #5: Don't build fancy railroad junctions, nothing like a roundabout or an interchange. In real life you never see them and trains don't need them. You should never have train traffic anywhere near as heavy as automobile traffic so you only need relatively simple junctions. Mostly your train tracks should go point to point from one station to another, with occasional T or Y-junctions to merge tracks going in the same direction, or to bypass a station on a track serving multiple stations.
Consider building a central switching yard and connect pretty much all the cargo tracks to it in a hub and spokes design... that's how real railroads handle complex topologies.
Those are excellent tips. Thank you for the feedback.
you are an hero playing in like 20 fps
Yes. This was one of the first RUclips videos I ever did. I did it on a laptop that just did not have enough horsepower. To my surprise, for my little channel, this video is doing quite well. Go figure.
Thank you man I've been really improving my city building techniques and have great traffic for cars. TRAINS HAVE BEEN SUCH A STRUGGLE FOR ME! Thank you for the tips, you gained a sub.
If you play with mods I would recommend Broken Node Detector's 'Detect Stuck Pedestrians' function; it might seriously free up some processor space and fix your FPS problem, or at least improve it.
Just looks like when I play it. I respect you
Simple but important. Wish, I had thought about this, before my city grew too big :D The trains stood still from one end of the map to the other...
Thank you for the feedback. Glad you found the video helpful.
I forgot to ask. Which tip was the most useful?
They were all pretty usefull. It all boils down to: Give trains enough space and use as few crossings as possible. But separating the lines was also great.
For my little channel this video is very popular. To be honest, I can't figure out why. For those of you that watched the video, what was it about the thumbnail that enticed you to click on it? I would love to hear from you in the comments. Thank you in advance for any support and help.

This is your best video yet! Great Job!
Really nice job! I love checking out other cities skylines channels like myself. Always supporting each other
Excellent tips
My problem is that I got sooo many trains coming in and I don't know why ... the cargo terminals can't handle the trains fast enough and they are bunching up on the tracks making big ups to intersections and keep gridlocking
tip #5 watch this video x1.75. talks slow af
