A teenager called Noriko Shimabara runs away from her family in Tokoyama, to meet Kumiko, the leader of an Internet BBS, Haikyo.com. She becomes involved with Kumiko's "family circle", which grows darker after the mass suicide of 54 high school girls. Written by Anonymous
Noriko Shimubara lives in Toyokawa with her father, mother and younger sister. To escape from her unhappy relationship with her parents, Noriko constantly logs on to Haikyo.com, a BBS where she meets other high school girls like her. One of these girls, Ueno54, induces Noriko to run away from her house. Noriko does so and in Tokyo she meets a young woman called Kumiko, her BBS friend, who runs a "family circle program", where she takes in young girls who are unhappy with their lives and gives them new personalities and families - Noriko joins it and her younger sister Yuka does so eventually. But the circle grows darker after the mass suicide of 54 high school girls, and it spreads larger and larger under the unfeeling control of Kumiko.
This movie is definitely the best movie I have seen in my whole life. It changed my way of seeing reality. You won't enjoy it if you are looking for blood, violence and ghosts. But you will fall in love with it if you feel lost in this life, if you can feel what any of the main characters of the film feels. I enjoyed every minute and every second of the film.
Arigato, mr. Sion Sono for making such a great piece of art about human emptiness and life sense.
I don't understand the ending at all... can you explain?
+TheKanonHara I just finished watching it and am still trying to parse it out. Needless to say this will take at least one more viewing. I can definitely say it had a happy ending, though.
+Hijodeganas1 Ditto, I shall have to re-watch it before I can even start to think of a way to explain it to others, much less know it myself, but quite a good film; not the best I have ever seen but one that is good to watch when bored senseless.
It's a lot more coherent than Suicide Club though. That was an absolute mindfuck.
If you enjoyed this then i recommend Love Exposure, same director and i consider it to be better
Loved it. So realistic. The ending left it open for the people to make up their own ending. I feel like Yuka start her 3rd life while Noriko, Kumiko and the dad stayed together.
Im happy Noriko and her dad are back together again. I wish Yuka would have stayed
Noriko's life wasn't that bad. The problem is people tend to think that the grass on the other side is greener but in reality, it is not. We need to appreciate what we've got.
I personally prefer these kind of odd endings or no ending at all over the standard cliche of happy endings in western films .. gives you more space to your imagination :)
wow!! this movie was mindblowing and i'll be thinking about it for a while now,, it was also really depressing seeing people slowly losing their old selves and turning into an empty shell of a human, just waiting for a role to fill
I really enjoyed this movie and thought that it was a nice mixture of suspense and horror. But, it does show a sense of understanding reality and the consequences of putting trust in strangers from online. You never know what kind of person is behind the computer screen or what kind of personality or life they actually lived. I guess Noriko and Yuka had to learn that the difficult way.
I personally think that the plot is suppose to be interpreted metaphorically with an abstract theme, such as the exploration of identity, the capacity of empathy and so on.
Suddenly I'm really grateful for what I have. A beautiful loving family and two loving boys
This move make me feel like distance with myself and questioning life but teach me to be grateful with what I have in my life and forgive the past.
It does have a little connection with suicide club, like the reason why 54 girls threw themselves at train and where it started but this didn't explain about Masa with her tattoo and her cult circle that I still looking for. Does Yuka became Masa in Suicide Club?
Well a great movie with deep meaning :) Thank you
Noriko dinner table ost 😊hyper chelou et bizarre 😊
sometime I don't understand this movies. It's confuse my movies but excite and not worst
where did all the blood and dead dudes disapear to??
So...I decided to take a leap and explore something I would normally never watch. This was definitively it. This movie was psychotic, suspenseful and gruesome - just plain crazy. However, it was a "good" movie. it stretched my brain, it made me think and question. In a way I realized that maybe my concrete way of thinking isn't elastic enough. I did think that maybe this film commented on the topic of false identity. How we can pretend to be someone we are not and get lost in it. There is no true happiness in false identities nor revenge. Also, I wonder why the girls were so happy about dying? That part I couldn't really process/ Perhaps it's just my concrete way of thinking and comparing this movie to reality. I seem to want movies to mirror real life and be able to explain everything. Not being able to fully comprehend this movie gives me a feel of very slight frustration, but also satisfaction. The mark of a good movie is a baffled and mind-boggled audience. .
ChristManifestee316 Because the 54 girls at Shinjuku station were members of I.C. Corp / Family Circle acting out their roles. What was a natural conclusion to their lives and roles actually set the whole chain of events of Suicide Club and, of course, the police didn't get the point of anything. The sole purpose of the 54 girls was something arranged by Kumiko to show Noriko/Mitsuko something she would eventually have to do, if required. Number 54 is no coincidence after all...
Blut Royale locker #54 is where they found the baby who was kumiko
@@blutroyale8072 wait, so all the 54 girls were actresses doing their role?
54 rabbits?
I always return here and watch the scene with the thread
hol up so if kumiko is now taeko ...are her and the dad are like...fookin or???
She said "I am Noriko". Not Noriko *again*, that convinces me she took another persona based on her past Noriko but maybe more free
She finally assumes her true identity but realizing her future is not fixed, as she feared in the beginning. Noriko now knows her father loves her no matter what, and he supports her and respects her decisions. She doesn't need a fake persona to be the woman she wants to be.
Yuka was going to kill herself in the end... to step into a "third world" where she has no name, a kind of Nirvana I suppose.
Haha, yes, you may be right supposing she thinks returning worse than death...
That was a great movie!! Thanks 4 upload!! So sad -,__,-
great movie, but like usual, japanese movies like these end with a sort of odd note. yuka/yoko disappears and becomes a 3rd person. mitsuko goes back to noriko, and we are left without a clue about the others.
After watching this movie made me think why some people even have a happy family still not grateful
I liked this movie a lot
This film and wild at heart on acid is amazing, I recommend it
I'ts was ok but I was dissapointed 'cause they didn't explain all the events of suicide club, specially those concerning Dessert and the skin rolls. On the other hand, those events don't make sense in a logic plot so I think it's impossible to explain. If you ignore that, Noriko's... it's good, maybe a bit long.
+gmork13 If you consider them deeply enough they are self-explanatory.
26 september 2021 thank you for this ❤️
I’m happy Noriko and her dad are together but I wish Yuka would’ve stayed with them 😢
Anyone knows the title of the instrumental at the ending/credits?
if I'm not mistaken the name is Lemon Song made by Tomoki Hasegawa.
隣の部屋で父親が起きていなければ号泣していたと思う

Good grief! I will not be recommending this film to anyone. Didn't enjoy it at all. I used to think a lot of films made in Japan were high quality in terms of storylines and innovation.
@Rhb - my issue is the CONSTANT NARRATION!
i kept just skiping scenes and screaming "JFC SHUT UP!"
