  • So what is an "Aldehyde" well it's complex it is synthetic probably more than often nowadays or it can be a molecule from plants and flowers etc. I say more in the video.
What they aren't is "dated" and no Chanel No. 5 isn't the only fragrance to ever have them whatever some so called "influencers" say. I mean 1920s fragrances had rose and leather in them, are they "dated" notes 🙄. To me it can either add a soapy goodness or a sparkle. When you've smelt them it's one of them things you'll recognise as being quite distinctive. They can also be slightly metallic too. They have been used a long time and again appear in a lot of modern fragrances too.
So enough waffle that doesn't actually say anything useful.
What's your favourite aldehydic fragrance? Do you enjoy them? What was the last one you bought with them.

Good points, Jon. Still not my favorite note, but they can be blended beautifully...especially in the fragrances you mentioned.

Yes it's definitely not a love for everyone 😊 but brings so much life to a fragrance. Thank you Jim ❤️

I think they're often snuck into formulas 😂 but as a whole, they're not my favorite.

Thanks Jon for more walking thoughts 🌿"A soapy twang"? Nice, I like it 👍 As a newbie, I'm still getting acquainted with aldehydes. I don't care (so far) when they're the main player. They seem to be making a comeback, don't they. I love the fizz a judicious (in my opinion) amount gives a fragrance. They're seem very versatile and aerate a scent and give some space around the notes. And aren't there many different molecules? In Ghost in the Shell, they're listed as aquatic. Anyway, two I don't like are Replica's Sailing Day and Exemplaire Unique's Couleur Primaire. They both feel too cold for me to smell 😂 Offhand, I enjoy YSL Y, ELDO's Ghost in the Shell, and JHag Citizen Queen.
    Have a lovely week!

Yes that's true many different molecules. They definitely add something interesting. I'm not a sailing day lover either 🤣. But yes they are definitely big in modern perfumery too. I do love a classic one though. Chanel do especially use them alot and it does lift them. Thank you for watching 😊

People... Who I think are idiots... 😂
These are the same people who don't know lily and LOTV are different? I wonder what they think about ants and anteaters.

Now, now, Claire 😂 as a side note, many people no longer know that ants are insects (!) or can identify one (!!!!!). It's like, ewwww what's that bug!

I came so close to buying le bain SO many times now and never got it… because of the plain bottle 😑 (I‘m such a sucker for whimsical things 🧚‍♀️).. but I loved the warm, almost cocooning feel it gave me.. it’s also totally my kind of scent profil! And everytime you talk about it I think to myself what an idiot I am .. JOOP! has a lot of great fragrances to offer I think.. and like you said.. no masterpieces but just some really (feel) good ones. I‘m gonna take it home with me next time, I promise. 😅🥲 Nontheless I never thought aldehyds giving it that „steamy“ feel you talked about. They are so versatile it‘s crazy 🤯.

Yes I think a lot of people are scared of aldehydes cos of the really famous one 🤣 but yes they can have alot of different feels and effects in a fragrance.
Yes I don't get where the Joop snobbery comes from. They've had some legendary fragrances that we've all owned and loved at one point. Yes the Le Bain bottle isn't very blingy 🤣 we love what we love though. I think Le Bain is truly one of the most underrated fragrances ever, it's so perfect for so many occasions and such an easy one to wear. And it definitely doesn't smell like a €20 fragrance, it's so well done and timeless.
