My usual policy. Take the screws supplied by the manufacturer and throw them in the bin. Go buy some proper screws.
Bloody good tip that is!
Great video

That’s a handy tip. I usually take a grinder and cut a slit in the top and take out with a flat head screwdriver. It works with an imbedded screw if you’re not fussed about the cutting into the timber slightly too.
I feel a video coming on with all the different ways 😉
Vice grips over the water with us Irish
I always use a drill chuck if enough is exposed.
Ah, there's an idea 🙌
Mole grip's (locking pliers) are the best tool ever. Saved a nervous breakdown on many occasions. If you can get the jaws to lock on to even a tiny nub of a broken screw then it will probably get it out (unless it is totally rusted). 👍
The screw adjustor for the jaw gap has an allen key receptacle on the end, presumably for tightening the jaws when it is clamped on. Never used an allen key myself. Clever tool.
PS Also known as Vise grips (might be a brand name)
Oohhh I never knew there was an Allen key bit 😯
He's actually twisting the pliers the opposite way but whatever works, works. Just like channel locks they're made a certain way to be used a certain way with the curvature
Haha good spot 😉
I was taught to use braiding pliers. They really bite in to the screw and are easy to rotate, as you place them in line with the screw. If you want to go fancy, there are piers specifically designed for extracting damaged screws and bolts, like the Knipex TwinGrips.
I've only ever used them for nails but it's good to know they work if I can't find my mole grips 👍
Aiden are you becoming a plumber how’s the barn doing
Haha I'm lots of things 😄 barn is kinda been on hold whilst I sort loads of other stuff out. I've still got to do all of mineral wool insulation and I don't think people really want to see me doing the same thing for weeks in a row 😂 plus it's these kind of videos that have a chance of actually earning me a little money cause it applies to more DIY'ers, after all, not many people fit their own windows and doors 😅
Great tip! But what about the other one that snapped inside the wood? 😋
Haha I had already used the same technique to get the screw out the knot, what you saw there was just the hole. I was about to take the other out when I thought, oh I should record this 😆
@@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT Hehe ok 😋 That was smart, Thanks for the video!
Mole grips and zip ties will fix pretty much anything!
You're forgetting gaffa tape 😆
But what was the smell??
Video incoming 😉
Twin-grips, Vampliers?
Never knew these even existed!
@@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT Glad you found them. I keep Knipex twin-grips in my work bag.
