- The opportunity arrives for me to test drive the new Porsche 911 GT3, of course a future car to join my garage! I've been keenly awaiting the chance I'd be able to go for my first drive in the car that I've ordered bound and this is it! The car did not disappoint by any means, just listen to the noise of the flat 6 as it screams up to 9,000rpm. If I didn't have one on order, I'd have been doing everything I could to get one now! Bring on the future Shmeemobile GT3!

the GT3 Touring is brilliant ... choose lightest weight spec PCCB’s and LWB’s add lithium battery (minus 35 lbs) and side muffler delete (minus 35 lbs) and best modern pure drivers road car !!!!

I think the key for me in watching this kind of video is how the smile keeps getting bigger the more whichever respective driver is behind the wheel of this great car. Great video...thanks for uploading...

I enjoyed learning the technical specifics of the GT3. I could tell there is even excitement to hear the exhaust. Its fast, we know....,its takes on the curves, we know...., but the speed at which it is capable is over the top and not many other hi-performance cars have this speed control and agility. All other specifications heighten our senses but the power and capabilties on the road remains for of us to experience of what this porsche is about.
SHMee that one serious piece of machinery! On the road footage was some. I love seeing the towns or villages and country side.. thankYou!
Now I'm a Mercedes guy; I love the AMG GT to death, and R8 etc. But The GT3 I think just looks the most put-together. For me, it's the easiest one to look and and is the least offensive visually. I don't think anyone can think this car looks ugly, whereas the others are a little more outgoing. The GT3 looks a bit more restrained, but I also think it's the most attractive car of the segment. Porsches are just very attractive yet simple cars, and this GT3 takes that and makes it look more aggressive but not crazy. Porsches have kept the same look for many decades and generations but it just never gets old. For me, this car just looks aesthetically perfect. Even the spoiler doesn't look at all out of place since it's blended in and attached to the rear end. It makes the spoiler look completely natural to the look of the car, with many spoilers looked slapped on after.
Thanks for posting this video, Shmee. My soon to be received GT3 arrived at the port in Davisville Rhode Island (USA) last Friday and I expect (HOPE) to take delivery by this time next week. I put my name on the list for this car 2 years ago and I'm so looking forward to getting it home in my garage. So, I can completely identify with your excitement about your soon to be received GT3. I'm looking forward to seeing your next video that shows your car being built.

I'm really happy that you are getting porsche again. It's going to be truly awesome to see this gt3 in your garage. I personally consider mclaren and porsche best car- makers in the wolrd, this video just proves it.

It is fun to watch you having so much fun on roads that I am very familiar with :) On the road where you turned around to go up again, on weekdays at the evening literally every second car is a Porsche since Weissach is just around the corner.
In Germany, the GT3 is a road car. If you want a track car, buy a GT3 Cup. If you make a road car too track oriented it is not comfortable enough for that dash from Frankfurt to Palermo in one blast, and it is still compromised for track work.
The GT3 is a car I'd use as an everyday car, they have put the correct seats in, but I've lived in Germany.
Robin St.Clair is the GT3 Cup an uncomfortable car to drive? Similar to the nismo GTR?

On the track the GT3 Cup feels very civilised. On the road it is not great. I've driven Supercup cars on the road (how do you think we used to run them in at the start of the season) with the assistance of the BW police (big props to those guys), but it wasn't comfortable as the Supercup cars are prepared for running on the F1 tracks.
For road use I'd fit the Nordschleife suspension (nice and soft), with greater clearance, and change the heim joints. There are guys around that can get these through the road approval process. These would make demon track day cars at the Nordschleife. I would rather leave the Cup car as close to original as possible and trailer it to the track.
Compared to a 911 RSR, the Cup car is a warmed over street car. But compared to any road car, its a race car.
Robin St.Clair So if one would want to purchase a daily driver + track car porsche 911, I'm assuming either the GT3RS or the 991 turbo S are the best options?

Excellent choice of a track-oriented car. Can't wait to see what it looks like. Would be nice to see it in Dark blue as it makes feel bold and sleek from the rest of the crowd.
Great option choices. PDK is by far the best transmission in any car. I have ceramics on my GT3 RS and like them, but I don’t track the car that much. With you living in Germany and going to the Nurburgring, first of all, I am envious. Secondly, good choice. Keep up the great work.

I just bought a 991 GT3 and I'm madly in love, by far the best option for the money and so fast!
As brilliant as the PDK and it is one of the best double clutch gearboxes made, you've goto have a manual!
So much more involving and better resale wise.
If anyone is buying the PDK version because it's faster to 60 and around a track then you've brought the wrong car, the GT3 is a drivers car, a car you wake up at 6am on a Sunday morning take it out to some country roads and open up the taps!
Enjoy the passion of driving working to get the power by using the three peddles, rev match on up changes to assist it to slot into gear heal and toe on the downshift none of this auto rev matching system! Enjoy the fact your in control of the car and it's you not the electronics that is controlling what the car does and love driving exploring.
That's just my opinion though !

Unless one are going to live on the track the bucket seats is just a gimmick. I ordered mine with the regular sports seats. The good thing is that there is no problem changing these out for the bucket seats. So I will buy bucket seats that I can install when I go on the track. My dealer even said that CCB is just a gimmick. No point in wasting money on these.

Naturally aspirated flat 6 engine is why I have a 981 Cayman S. But alas, I have a wife who is not into cars and I have to consider myself lucky that she was cool with me buying the 981. I could have purchased a GTS with approx. 20k on the odometer for the same money, but I wanted low to no miles. I frequently drive in the mountains and a GT3 would be my ultimate car. A GT4 would be OK.
There are cars with more highspeed, with better acceleration, with louder noise, rarer cars, etc., but Porsche will always be a Porsche with perfect engeneering performance at a reasonable price. And so Porsche is mostly much better than much more expensive cars, which shine in some disciplines, but still show some weaknesses in the package.
Didn't really like porsches at first. But gt3 RS made me fall in love with them
Tim, love the video and the car. Can’t help but feel like you were a little disappointed with the car and when you were flooring it, it didn’t look very fast or aggressive.

Great video Tim. In my opinion you shouldn't get the lift system (although by now its too late to change that) since you mentioned that you want to focus on the specific task that the GT3 serves, which is take it to the track and have a blast with it. The lift system will add unnecessary weight. Also, I would get the PCCB and right away replace them with steel rotors, in that way when the time comes to sell you put the carbons back on and your resale value will be much better. Either way, no matter what's the configuration, the car is a blast to drive.
I do not want to set ultrafast lap times but have fun on track.
Last generation rear light is better but it’s still an awesome car😎

12:41 you mention it is a bit droney in normal drive, but looks like you have sport exhaust turned on still, probably quieter with it off. (not that i would ever turn it off either)

It looks like you've gotten some camera upgrades all the best angles and an improved picture. I would imagine when driving a Porsche your driving a very special car with a long winning racing history. Do Porsche owners wave or flash their bright lights at one another. Saying yes we are both so lucky. Me personally wouldn't want an overly flashy color. Red, silver or blue. red and blue not in metallic silver in a mild metallic silver

So now is the right time to apply the order for a Porsche GT3 RS 991.2. On the nürburgring they a driving prototypes of it for quite a while now... and when it will be arriving, you than can sell the GT3 ☺👍

Nice car Tim, can't help feeling that exhaust drone will get old really fast though. I had the same problem with my first car, a Vauxhall Nova 1.2. In my eager and feverish youth I fitted a Cherry Bomb exhaust and learnt the hard way how unsociable and grating an exhaust note can become on a daily driver.
Hi Tim. Love your videos! I have a 2007 GT3RS, which I love as well as a 2018 718 Cayman S. Today I heard about the 718 Boxster Spyder, and put my name on the list. It has a GT3 engine! Don’t know specs yet, but should be cool. I don’t have your cash, but both cars should be amazing.

Most amazing thing done by porsche - saving the manuals!!! Can’t see how a pdk although an amazing gearbox, can beat up a manual transmission. Manual is all what we motorsport funs look forward to when thinking about driving experience....

I have the manual as I am rarely on a track and use it on open country roads on weekends and road trips, and let me say, it is incredible. No car out there has such a feel. but agree if you're looking to take it to the track a fair bit (and you should) then get the PDK as this is a track monster. Also PDK better in city/town traffic.
