November is National Family Caregivers Month. In the United States, about 40 million people provide unpaid care to an ill or disabled adult. One-quarter of those caregivers have been in their roles for five years or longer. And these loving helpers often go it alone. Only half of family caregivers say they get unpaid help from another family member or friend.
AARP The Magazine spent 24 hours filming a day in the life of caregivers across America, documenting their joys and challenges. Read more about their stories here: www.aarp.org/home-family/careg... www.aarp.org/home-family/careg...

All caregivers walk by faith each day.
What do you mean by that?
Very moving. I'm a caregiver for my wife. It's nice to be recognized.
God bless you people, caregivers are heroes!
Very touching, and it helps remind us that caregiving touches many lives; it's not disease specific or just for one age group.
I especially loved seeing the woman read, "Are You My Mother". My son (diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy) has loved that book since he was a toddler.
Caregiving is an art and a science and is essential!
thanks for this video. I've been caregiving for five years with unhelpful sibblings. they think nothing of what I do, they go on with their lives while I miss mine, i can't have a normal relationship, being a caregiver is a lonely place. Having said that I wouldn't change the decision I made. I love my mother who did so much for all of us, I can't put her in a home. She deserves a loving home and a hot bath every night.
What a lovely❤❤❤ I feel you and you did the best.
My whole family is helping my mom who has MS. My dad cooks, my brother helps with lifts (we have a lifting system) I help my mom with the rest of her care. Bathing, changing, grooming.
The hardest part is when they pass away. My mom is a caregiver and I know the elder she takes care of. She is so sweet and kind, everyday counts with her!
Congress has passed the RAISE caregiver act this year. But we need to stay engaged and make it the best legislation possible. The need of family caregivers will touching more and more people.
Thank you for giving this brief overview of some of the many things that caregivers do for their loved ones.
Wow thank god and yourself to care about someone else, that will be my Purpose too in life, thank you father for showing my path in life, this is what I am too, as a former bear caregiver, I can do it for my humane Brothers & Sisters too thank you and bless you all💖
I am a care giver , I will keep doing it because I want to help
Thank you caregivers❤❤❤
This is something i would definitely wake up to & be happy ! go to work & help people !
gerardo aguirre good
If it's a job then yes but if it's a family member you never get to clock out, very depressing.
@@andreaj2621 yup.. 24/7/365-366... Every second of your day is dedicated to your loved one...
No breaks. If you're pooping and they need you? Guess what? Yep, gotta cut it short. That's my life. Short poops. Its taking a toll on my stomach, I think..
@@vkatl-v-w2882 True, Did it for my Mom for several years. It controlled my whole life and I have had a very hard time moving on after she passed away. I would gladly do it all again though! I'm proud that I did it.
I needed this! Thank you so much for the reminder that I'm not alone. No matter how alone I always feel in this grind. Having the responsibility of taking care of my grandmother (who has really filled the role of my mother all my life) who more and more, Makes it a full time struggle and fight. My own health and stress not withstanding, I've somehow endured 38 years of family fighting and sick schemes to remove me (the only protector of g-ma and her home and finances) from the situation. And i'm still the only one fighting to keep her taken care of and not taken advantage of. Everyone else wants her money, I just want to return the favor and I see it as an obligation as she took care very good care of me! and everyone else too. It's so much harder when they fight you. Especially when the ones with ill intent have deceived her into believing I'm the bad guy. Definitely didn't mean to vent, but it helped me, and I hope it helps someone else in also not feeling alone and overwhelmed. If you are a caregiver, and especially one who has to wear a shield and boxing gloves, Bless your heart!!
May God give you strength. good health 💰 excellent health and all sorts of blessings
@@qeytmyok2473 Thank You! And things I also wish back on to you.
This is totally me, I love what I do for my clients
My mom has a stage 4 glioblastoma. My sister and I work as caregivers for her. Even with the two of us it's hard. Mom needs 24/7 care and is a two person assist - I help with transferring, from bed to wherever she needs. I pay mom's bills and manage her medical affairs and take her to all her appointments. My sister does her medicines and changes her, ( we take turns actually) and bathe her.
We feel very alone,. Mom's insurance doesn't pay for any of her supplies, or pay us as caregivers. We've put our own personal lives on hold.
I dream about life after this ordeal and it makes me feel awful guilty, it's like I'm dreaming how nice it will be after my mother passes. I wrestle with guilt over this everyday - a thousand times a day. God help and forgive me.
There's so much more that needs to be done for caregivers - we need financial, practical and emotional support - badly.
Im a caregiver myself i got hired 3 weeks ago :)

CARE GIVER JOBS OPPURTUNITY IS NOT AVAILABLE
In India there are bureaus giving such jobs ₹500 for 12 hours shift
I think wether in a paid or unpaid role we are all caregivers we have the lifeskills of looking after a loved one personally in life ....
There are least jobs that make a impact on a person's life and caregiving or care work is one of them jobs bieng a caregiver is highly rewarding physically mentally and spiritually
