I got a chuckle of you not believing in the PewScience data Wade, then rattling off the top cans for 308: Enticer L, Nomad L and the Hyperion as your favorite cans for being quiet. And the Q full Nelson as your favorite 300blk can, it’s rated as the most quiet on 300bk on PewScience.
If you haven’t tried the CAT cans you haven’t seen how good things can get! The Johnny law is epic. My favorite cans are my 718 WB and my Noah they’re kickass cans above and beyond other options

Hi Wade, My question for today concerns your experience using the huxwrx cans on your precision rifles. In his six arc video garand thumb complained about the amount of mirage he was getting, I think he was using the 6mm dedicated hux can rather than the 7.62 but besides that I think the cans are the same. I'm curious what your thoughts are on the mirage your getting off the hux cans during your testing and how big of a deal you think it is during hunting and potential tactical scenarios. He said he would prefer a inconel can, I guess the idea being it would take longer to heat up and thus longer to produce significant mirage. Curious what you think. I'm thinking the benefits of the hux out weigh the cons, inconel being significantly heavier and besides the new cat can there really isn't any flow through can in inconel that I'm aware of. Also looking forward to your comments on the CAT cans, the ODB, WB and NOAH. Brass Facts and Hop now basically exclusively run the hux flow 556 on their 11.5 fighting rifles so the hux cans also get the seal of approval from them as a "fighting" can for what it's worth because of all the same benefits you mention for gas guns. Best regards,
Majority of my shooting is done before mirage gets bad and then platform is allowed to cool off. I tend to just run them in a hunting scenario so not really running into that being a factor. I will do some testing and report in if anything notable is noticed.
I just built a 6 ARC with many of your suggestions (thanks for all the tips!) Considering a Wolf Hunter or Hux, mostly for deer hunting. Stand and drives with a 16” barrel. Would you go Hux regardless or would the wolf be preferable for moving and hunting?

Do you think running a smaller bore suppressor on a smaller caliber is quieter? For example 6.5 can on a 6arc instead of a 30 cal can. Do you think the 6.5 would be quieter (all other things being equal)?
Yes, theoretically it would be more quite but probably not by much. You more than likely wouldn’t be able to tell tho. If you are only going to buy one suppressor at the moment, go ahead and get a 30 cal can so you can use it on most everything. If you plan to buy many suppressors or financially can afford it then do some testing with different bore sizes and see what you think.

My YHM TURBO K T2 is a fantastic can for a predator hunting AR in 223 or 22ARC. Not a quiet can at all, but extremely quiet for its tiny size, adds like 4.5 inches of length when used with a DDC zilch adapter and a cherry bomb. Despite being so tiny it’s actually on par sound-wise with duty style S cans like the Sandman S and the RC2. Only drawback is that it is a little gassy but no big deal for a hunting rifle
