I’ve always loved satin finished guitars. This one looks and sounds fantastic. I just bought a 2022 D18 Standard a couple of weeks ago that is just magic. I bought two custom Martin 18 style sinkers two years ago and really the point I wanted to make is that the level of quality guitars that Martin is putting out in the last recent years is just phenomenal. I think that the satin finish D18 sounds wonderful, it’s less expensive than the gloss finished standard, and I feel like my satin finished guitars opened up a little faster.
I just purchased the same model except i got the amber tone..they are truly outstanding..I literally cried when I first played it.I know..sounds corny..but I felt like I finally found the sound i was looking for 😊
I have this model it is a 2024 and it is just loaded with tone I have has several modern deluxe d18 and 28 ,3 d18 and many others and this satin is awesome it really sounds good
@@MaurysMusic I just wanted to make sure that someone didn't buy a guitar from you with the impression that it had the wrong inlays. It would be unfair to both parties.
Yes, D18 the best sounding acoustic guitar ever, this new satin D18, for me sound even more open, that’s a good thing…but, hopefully this particular D18 satin has already improved its binding…coz after few months of owning a D18 (a normal D18, gloss) binding starts to peel off, maybe they will try to use plastic binding that doesn’t shrink…thanks!!! But then again great tone, regards
hey i just watched this video and the d28 satin video. I love your playing. However I think you need a better mic. All these guitars including the gloss sound tinny. They really don't sound like a Martin. no warmth and no growl.
@@MaurysMusic first and foremost I meant no malice. It could be me. I do like Ian Meadows on you tube. I really want to like this guitar, as I am currently in the market for a D18.
@@HughBlansit Thanks, I didn't take any offense - I just wonder if I compare your preferred video to ours, will I hear what you're claiming. I'll check him out.

Thanks Flyboy!

That’s a great feeling.
These guitars are so beautiful!!... the details, assembly, and overall look are the Best in the World!
Thanks, Stephen!
Spoon is a great player and a great salesman.
Sounds great! I've always wanted a D18,and this version will save me $400.
That's the hope, if I could try to speak for the folks in Martin's R&D dept.
Lovely, beautiful tone from this Martin. That Ambertone finished one is so beautiful.
Many thanks!
Sorry I should have said Amberburst finish

Very nice!
Nice guitar, enjoyed the playing!
Thanks a lot!
FYI - I said "2-1/8" string spacing" at the 12th fret. I should have said "2-1/8" fingerboard width.
Ah.
Great review, but I up-voted for the Jonathan Winters reference. 🙂
Haha!
Nice review, but there should be a correction here. Spoon says it's mother of pearl. It's not. It's Abalone inlays.
Ok, thanks

Sorry you feel this way. Can you name another video on TY who's tones you do like? I'd be curious to compare.
