    I'm getting chills watching this. I'm nervous and excited at the same time. I'll be starting my undergraduate next year, I've applied at UCT, Stellenbosch and UFS. I hope they all take me. Which institution would you recommend amongst those three?

    • @PsychIRL
      @PsychIRL  3 года назад +2

      Hi Teboho, to be honest, I can't compare their programs because I have never studied at Stellenbosch or UFS. They are all good universities, you just need to base your decision on what works best for you but in terms of experience and education I would like to think they all have their own pros and cons.

    Hey lovely video ♥️❤️
    I however have a question. I’d like to know if the one year community service/internship is paid.
    I feel like we as honours students have little to no information 💔

    • @PsychIRL
      @PsychIRL  2 года назад

      Hi Chamique, yes both internship and community services are paid.

    Hi, thank you for your informative video. Can I ask what hours do you work at the correctional centre and is the payment you receive enough to independently and financially support yourself or would you need to work another while volunteering?

    • @PsychIRL
      @PsychIRL  Год назад

      I worked 7 am to 3pm and the pay was sufficient

    This has been very informative. Do you use the same system when applying for internship? Not sure if you have already done a video on how internship applications for clinical psychology works.

    • @PsychIRL
      @PsychIRL  2 года назад

      No internships are applied for as job applications

    Hey do clinical psychologists wear scrubs? And you have a soothing voice🥺
    Working in the correctional services seems interesting

    • @PsychIRL
      @PsychIRL  3 года назад

      Hi Mboyii, no we don't. Scrubs and lab coats are protective equipment for when in physical contact with patients and psychologist do not get exposed to situations where they are in physical contact with patients in any shape or form.

    Very interesting!! What would you say is the main language you conduct therapy in?

    • @PsychIRL

      Predominantly English and isiXhosa/isiZulu but at times I do see people who only understand SeSotho/ SeTswana

    Do you use the ICSP site when you apply for your internship ?

    • @PsychIRL
      @PsychIRL  3 года назад +1

      Hi Thembisile, no each internship site will open their own applications and you'd need to submit an application just as you did for masters/ for a job.

    What are the challenges you have faced as a psychology practitioner and some of the challenges you are aware of that other psychologists might have experienced or are currently experiencing?

    Hi , thank you for this video its so informative. I'm starting my Masters next year. Do you deal with both male and female offenders. Are you still concerned about your safety ?

    • @PsychIRL
      @PsychIRL  3 года назад +2

      Hi Thembisile, I only work with males and yes at times there are safety concerns but I haven't felt directly threatened and well done for getting placed for masters and all the best.

    Hey Tshepiso here ,I just watched your video and I'm currently studying BSs in Sociology and pyshcology as a undergraduate ,its my first year .Unfortunately, I am failed my first term module at 49 percent ,will I be able to retake the module next year?

    • @PsychIRL
      @PsychIRL  3 года назад +1

      Hi Tshepiso, depending on your university requirements, if you fail a subject then you write a supplementary exam but if they consider 49% as an accepted pass mark then you won't re-write. I suggest speaking to your lecturer or tutor they would be able to give you the best advice.
