Before purchasing such devices, be sure to buy a fiber optic decoder because volvo also provides the audio from the aux menu with a fiber optic decoder. I used this device on the s60 2012, unfortunately I couldn't get any sound. A decoder suitable for your volvo model is a must for sound.
Late 2011-2014 XC60 is a different setup than the one shown here. I've been fighting with Seicane for nearly 2 months to get mine (late 2011 without the little top dash LCD, and with the 7" screen) working. They do not have the proper connections for it to work properly. Theirs requires the original screen to be connected, which means finding longer cables (they don't have them) to move it to the glove box. Climate controls will not show on the Android screen, and none of the car functions will be accessible from the Android display, meaning you'll need access to the original screen every time you use climate or heated seats. It's a massive pain, so I just bought one that's more like this, but with the proper fiber optic screen delete panel, so all should function properly when installed.
@@redgeminipaI also have a 2012 S60 and wanted to do this. Have you completed your setup and if so, would you mind sharing all the parts that you needed? I bought a Carpuride external screen for CarPlay and have it sitting above the legacy screen for now, but it’s proven to be a bit of a pain. I actually stumbled on this while looking for how to tap into the radio’s power connection for that and now I want to try your method if you’ve gotten it all working. I don’t care about the heated seats really, but I would like for as much to work as possible.
2 screws once you pry off the AC vents... easy 2 more screws after you remove the CD slot cover... a bit tricky to know that the CD cover pops forward, but OK. 2 screws on the back side of the center console, way down low (right near the storage tray behind the radio/AC controls)... a bit fussy as they are so low, but they aren't awful if you have a T25 socket. The 2 screws on the back side but higher up... Those are the PITA. There's one on the US passenger side (right seat) that is visible if you really go looking for it. OK... but the one on the driver's side (left seat) requires you to remove the little panel directly above the storage tray and use a very shallow T25 socket/bit to remove the screw that is immediately INSIDE THE HOLE opened up by removing that panel. You have to blindly jab at that MF-er until you feel the T25 slip into the screw head and then remove it. I finally got that last screw by kneeling outside of the driver's (left) door, putting my head down near the accelerator pedal and looking back up towards the screw head. If you wiggle around enough, you can get a bit of a view of the screw through holes in the center console and that let me get the bit inside the screw head. I probably spent 2 hours messing about with 10" extensions, 2x4" extensions and finally a small t-25 bit for a driver on a 1/4" ratchet handle and adapter to get that screw out. FYI: It will NOT be going back in... my XC60 will have to make due with just 7 of the 8 screws for the rest of its' life. :P
Hi @The Fitting Bay, thanks for the video! So I wanted to ask you about the configuration you did for your screen already in regards of the CANBUS. I mean, I just finalize to install my screen but the steering wheel Controls are not working, could you share what CANBUS profile did you choose? And on the other hand I had to connect the screen audio output to the AUX 35mm jack in the car. Is this what you did? Any comments are very welcome! Thank you!
Think this might be a go for my 2009 XC60 (MY10), looks the exact same model here, also in Melb. I do have a reverse camera already in there. Assuming it would just be plug n play like the rest of the unit as well?

Dear Nathan, First I’d like to give you a compliment to have done this video, very interresting and helpfull. It just missing showing the back of the radio with the connections and how to install the plugs in, then I miss also how to connect the USB connectors to the center of the car and finally there are some steps that we can’t see because you’re just in front of the camera and you have explained too fast 🙈 I’ve exactly the same Volvo as yours just I already have a display as well as on the top I have a speaker too and I’m just wondering how I should put the GPS receiver and does it works with the original GPS Box that works with the original Volvo Maps System with Map CD’s (this box is in the back in the trunk), can I connect the GPS with this box or does it just work with the new system that you installed? I’m asking this because the control buttons for the GPS are behind the wheel on the brace of the indicators for left and right? Hope that you will reply to my message. Thanks in advance and best regards, Carlos from Luxembourg (Europe)

Hi there, im wanting to purchase and install in a newer 2015 xc60. Is there a way to run the original system menu for all the car settings through this screen? What does that look like? Thanks!
It will require an LCD fiber optic panel delete be installed where the original screen is. If you don't use that, you'll lose access to the car's settings and climate control visuals.
Awesome tutorial, it was easy to follow, did everything like you did. I have the same model of xc60 without display as you. The radio is working as before but the screen is black, any ideas?
@@TheFittingBay ah, apparently my green connector was supposed to connect to the backside of the climate control module. The android unit is working now! The only problem now is no sound from the android unit only from the original radio

To get sound on from the android unit i press "mode" button on the car to aux, and to listen to radio i press the FM button.
Hi My xc60 has no telephone option. And I use a Samsung phone. Is there a set available to use for me with a microphone included (or does the system use the phone mic but Volvo sound?) and connecting to Samsung phone? Thanks for the tutorial!
That bolt at 3:00 is only for the first edition of the XC60. And I can't get it out with my tools. What tool did you use? I've used different bits and tools and even tried it from above but I can't get a bit to grip the t25 bolt at the right angle. I've been debating to cutting into the plastics to create a bigger hole for the tools to pass through.
Well, I tried an install; the Android unit works fine, but no audio comes from the car speakers. I tested the audio from the Android unit using an external amp connected by phono, which works. However, the Volvo audio system is silent. All is good when I reassemble the old system and put the old CD unit back in. Also when the new unit is connected I have lost my front and rear parking distance sensors, help. PS The Canbus system works ok on some circuits; it recognizes different controls. but I think the audio amp is also controlled by the canbus as are the parking sensors.
I have the 2010 left hand drive XC60. Everything was going great until I tried to remove that panel in the back. I have pushed on the clips, but I have made no progress. Any and all suggestions are welcome
Hi I just imported a 2015 Volvo V60 R design from Japan. The local Volvo dealer told me I cannot convert the radio because it has a build in TV tuner so I’m stuck on very low frequency channels only and no NAV. Can I fit this system to my car to give me a usable radio and NAV?
Save yourself the trouble, and buy a kit that's ready to install with all harnesses etc. Early 2011 has the LCD panel on top of the dash, and this exact kit would work. Late 2011-2014 should have a 6.2" or 7" screen above the vents. These require a fiber optic LCD delete panel be installed where the original screen is. I've been fighting with Seicane for almost 2 months. Theirs will NOT work for the late 2011-2014 models. It requires the original screen stay connected, which means you have to figure out how to move it to the glove compartment, or keep it stuffed behind the Android radio, making it unusable for any car settings or climate controls.
Trim level makes no difference, but the year is critical. 2009-early 2011 (with the top dash LCD screen) will be what is shown here. The late 2011-2014 will require a screen delete fiber optic panel be installed where the original screen is. That's what I just ordered for mine. 2015-2017 is different as well.
It's possible it may just work. If you have a late 2011 through 2014 (first gen without the top dash LCD display), you'll need a fiber optic screen delete panel for it to function properly with the climate controls and the car's systems menu. That will only work with the 6.2" and 7" factory screens in the late 2011 - 2014.
