Unfortunately developers are buying up land and farms around where I live in northeast Ontario too. They won’t be happy until all our beautiful farm land is nothing but cookie cutter homes with no yards or character. I moved where I am from Toronto to get away from this mentality but they don’t stop pushing it all around us. It’s a shame our small town(pop 1200 when I moved here)is getting over run with people that want to change it into the crappy city that they “wanted” to move away from.

My husband and I bought and renovated a big old house like this here in NW PA. Our family, including my sons and many friends, enjoyed 30 years in our country home with many, many fun memories. We completely updated inside and out as well as adding a cool pond in the backyard with a view of the valley. We finally completed our venture and our home was all we imagined and more. But our kids moved out and we realized it was about time to downsize so we sold our house to dear friends and relocated to a smaller place on our other property 5 miles away. Love old houses and it was a true labor of love.

It truly looks like someone was in just before you and cleaned up. No dust or dead flies on the floors! My Mom lives in a farm house built in 1869. There are dead flies to vacuum up every day. I loved those old floors. With a property this beautiful, they would probably been offered a LOT of money for it. An amount they couldn't refuse. I just hope that affordable housing gets built. Yup! What will we do when thete are no farms left to grow our own food?I grew up on a farm and continue that life today and I’m 70.This is a crime.but you know the only asset that a farmer has is the land. When it’s time to retire you sell out to the money man.A bit of machinery maybe that nobody wants. The younger folks don’t want to farm or are too lazy to farm.I don’t know what the answer is but I know what the consequences are.
