We know this fight was highly requested so we are so excited to have been able to finally break down this fight scene for you (and choke Logan out again). As always, thanks for the support and let us know which fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown next!
You guys never fail to deliver! Good breakdown keep it up!! Hope to see the breakdown of “the raid pt 2” in the future. Specifically the kitchen fight scene with the Karambit or the warehouse
you might want to do The Night Comes for Us, especially joe vs julie estelle since it's kinda short and not a bloody one like the rest of the movie. it has some knife and wrestling move too
The one thing I liked about this movie's main fight scenes that was different from other films, is that they cut the background music, so that you could hear the strikes and it really focuses your attention on the fight itself
So this is kind of an odd recommendation, but I suggest you guys break down the Vi and Jayce fight scene from Arcane, or a variety of fight scenes from the show (particularly ones with Vi involved). There's boxing, weapons, varying terrain/ distance. I think it may be pretty interesting to look at.
I really appreciate how you guys respect each other’s expertise. You’ve done so many of these, so I’m sure you both share a lot of knowledge, but you still let each other lead the discussion for the things you know best. Great videos!
@@ScenicFights if y’all can break down the fight scene in kinsman the one in 2022. That fight scene with the German soilders that be amazing. Got great knife and fighting action
This is an amazing fight scene from a cinematic perspective. It's shot as a single take (though there are several hidden cuts), Charlize Theron does a lot of her own stunt work, and they use makeup to show her getting swollen and bruised as the fight progresses to add more realism. And, of course, it's got pretty decent choreography.
I really enjoy how you guys point out that she's tired and what not. I feel like a lot of other breakdowns, while good, forget that aspect when going through things.
Atomic Blonde is underrated action thriller movie. I love Charlize Theron. She is great drama actress but in this movie she can prove to everyone she can played action role she nailed it so well. The stairwell fight scene is so badass.
Just a small tip on how the stuntmen don’t actually break their backs or even the back of their heads, despite that they have been wearing pads underneath their clothing, they are tucking their chins into their chests, as they do fall on their backs, they don’t slam the backs of their heads as they fall, then they will slowly roll out safely. Tips from the stuntmen and stuntwomen explained from Corridor Crew! ;)
There's also no way those stairs aren't padded or made of a softer material. Especially when dude stood straight up then fell or when she rolled down and slammed her head on the wall (granted they probably added a slam sound effect to give it more weight).
It's always fun to see a much deeper breakdown of a fight. You guys are very aware of your crafts and even can pinpoint things like what type of assailant would carry what kind of knife, all the way to when would a specific move have valid conditions to pull off. Man, I love this channel.
The thing about armpit injuries, is that there is NO position you can rest in that doesn't put (painful!) pressure on that area. I haven't been stabbed, but I have bad skin and sharp nails so I have repeatedly scratched myself raw and gotten infections, in various locations; and the absolute WORST was when it was in my armpit. It's in a pretty core location, so every single movement you make, will move the area; it's also at the inside of a joint, so your body's natural positioning will put pressure on it. The only comfortable way I could rest, was with a lot of pillows supporting my arm and my body.
This 100%. As a kid I ripped open my armpit with a broken rake handle and had to get 6 stitches in that area. While the injury didn't initially hurt due to the adrenaline, the healing was absolute torture.
One reason I like the action scenes in this movie is that the way she, a woman, defeats men (stronger adversaries) is a lot more believable than in some action movies where the woman fights like she's a man with equivalent strength.
11:39 love that Logan recognised Dan. And you’re right he is amazing, his work has been stellar… P.S. he was in the second Matrix too, he’s one of the agents Neo fights at the start of the movie.
Anytime I see Bernhardt in a movie, I always root for him even though i know he's going to lose....hahaha. I know he's there for the stunts and action and to make the protagonist look good.
When we were practicing Muay Thai our instructor always told us in short distance always use your most powerful weapon, elbows and knees, they are harder to break and make a lot of damage, specially the elbows, you can see it in Muay Thai fights and MMA, almost all the cuts in tue face are made by elbow shots... And as always love the chemistry, would love to see a full series with you two hosting and with a full martial artists team to make choreographies... And always use the safe way with your partner, no matter how excited you are hahahahaha
This is one of my favorite fight scenes ever, partly because they actually put thought into l ways a smaller woman would effectively fight bigger men, but even more so because of how progressively TIRED they get!!! People don’t realize how quickly exhausting it is to fight, even sparring. It’s a huge pet peeve of mine in shows and movies when the hero/protag fights like ten guys in a big standoff and then after goes on and seems fine!! NO! You’d be like they are here, swaying and dragging and drooping and SLOPPY!!
true, and even if the hero came out of the fight barely scarred or on an endorphin high, they'd have a "crash" as the adrenaline stops pumping and the muscles fill with lactic acid. The better movies are the ones where the hero just goes limp and is vulnerable for a bit afterward, catching breath. Which is all ironic since most self defense videos would suggest running away at this time, and of course in movies the hero has the wind to crack a joke.
A recommendation: Guys, I’ve always wanted to see an analysis of Rebecca Ferguson’s knife fight in the final arc of Mission Impossible: Rouge Nation. It’s not the best in terms of lighting and visibility but it’s got it’s high points plus I’ve always wandered what score Chad and Logan would independently give it, it’s got it’s fair share of blade-work and takedowns so both of you have material to work with… To be fair: quite a bit of fights in the more recent Mission Impossible movies should provide adequate materials…
I like the realism and breakdown for the knife part. Like you said in the breakdown, body shots are definitely the best start especially when you’re tired and the opponent is moving. Guarantees you’ll hit at least something and it also allows you to map the geography of the body as you go if your vision is obstructed by hair, sweat, or blurry vision from damage or exhaustion. It can also slow them down so they’re in a better position for that strike to the head or neck which needs more precision you may not have to start with. Shaky hands, squirmy enemy, dulled vision, body feeling heavy, maybe even a poor grip. Lots of factors to consider that can make a fight finisher difficult to achieve even if it is open to attempt. Love these videos and appreciate you guys acting them out to show us how it works and why it’s great or can be done better.
Could be that the character was relying on her thicker winter coat to protect her inner arms and wrists during the knife portion. A good wool coat provides a surprising amount of protection.
I think the "canonical reason" Daniel doesn't proceed to the Figure-Four is because he's partially using his uninjured arm to give extra pull to the arm that just got a corkscrew to the armpit. I could easily be wrong because I don't know the anatomy of the shoulder too well, but I would think that would at least rip some muscles, maybe a tendon or two, effectively reducing his control and mobility of that specific arm.
Not only do you guys give great attention to detail in the fight scenes, the head to toe detail with your outfits are spot on! Love the socks matching the shirts! Also, Logan finally stepped his hair game up! Great video guys!
Amazing breakdown as always, and I want to add more about the "reversal". There is this technique with a pretty fancy name, known as Retrograde Moon. It's a circular reversal technique, and it's "formless". Highly adaptable and changeable. For example, the enemy performs an number 3 slash in a reverse grip, using the opponent's momentum and gripping the bicep, then redirect the knife by holding on to the wrist and slamming into the opponent's face with the entire blade vertically. To put it simply, hold a knife in the reverse grip, then do "drinking water from the mug" motion and you will get what I mean.
We won't! Make sure to share this video with your friends and let us know which fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown. The more views these videos get, the faster we can post the next one!
Wow really u guys are back this is fantastic cool ok just bring it some awesome cool breakdowns ok yeah just get into this iam waiting Chad and Logan Brothers 💯💯💯🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟👊👊👊👊
The scene overall was actually pretty good and realistic. The throwing moves were pretty impressive, the throw where charlize wasn't using her hips, was a little bit odd indeed, but still good choreagraphy
Welcome back, guys! It's so good to see you again. (after 3 weeks) This video was soooo good, I really loved it. It was really fun to watch. Now I want to recommend a film for Chad. Chad must see it, i think he will love it. Born a champion (2021), it's about a BJJ fighter, who gets into an unsanctioned MMA tournament. I think the final fight scene was good (between Mickey Kelley and Marco Blaine), and it' worth a break down (but that's my opinion). Keep up the good work. Love from Hungary.
13:55 omg so nice seeing somebody recognize a strangle. I’ve seen too many times where somebody goes “oh, you don’t want the elbow out front for a choke like that. That’s just Hollywood”, and I’m always frustrated bc I’m like yeah, that’s bc it’s not a choke. It’s a strangle. Different goal. If you wanted to choke them, you’d do forearm across the windpipe, but for a strangle, you hit the carotids
That was a great video ! I can feel how edge weapons are very dangerous because the explanations are really precise and clear. Can't wait for the next video !
Welcome to the Scenic Fights RUclips channel! Happy to hear it has become one of your favorite channels. Let us know if there any other fight scenes you'd like to see us breakdown next!
For the throw discussed around minute 2:00, technically she may have used a modified tai otoshi technique, basically the upper body movement unbalances the opponent and the opponent's right shin contacts her right calf and he trips over the leg. I checked the video and it is a possibility that this happened although she would really have to exert her upper body. I have been thrown by lighter judoka using this technique.
Also bearing in mind that her frame would have a lower center of gravity than her opponent's due to the difference in build - it's astonishing in practice sometimes how effectively women can throw larger men with the right training (which her character definitely would have)
I recommend Scenic Fights to break down; the kitchen, warehouse, and cyborg vs cyborg fight scenes, in the 2018 Action/Sci-Fi film: Upgrade. I really enjoy how technical the break downs are and how fighting scenarios are approached with a certain logic at Scenic Fights!
@@ScenicFights seeing as you guys like to mix it up, mma style, maybe check out the final fight at the end of lethal weapon 1 bit of stick Fighting and bjj in that

It's been so long, and then you drop this atomic bombshell of a video! I was wondering if you guys were ever going to cover this scene after I saw it reacted to on another channel. I'm already eager for the next video!

Thank you so much Paul! We do our best to improve with each video. All our feedback comes from the comments! So thank you all who engage with our video.
Holy crap it's been a while, welcome back you guys!!!!!!! Now about how stuntmen go with just throwing themselves down the stairs. Can't remember if it was Scott Adkins or someone else that explained it. So how they do it is either the stuntman would put on pads or they would pad the whole flight of stairs, maybe even both at times. Still even with protection it takes balls to drop yourself down the straircase, so yeah props and big respect to all the stunt people that make our favourite action films even better with their work! Hmmmmm just realized you guys haven't done The Equaliser (starring Denzel Washington), the first one also made use of a corkscrew and multiple objects throughout the film as improvised weapons. As always you guys never disappoint, even after a pretty long break, you guys came back swinging or should I say atomic. Glad to see you're back and see you in the next one!
We are glad to be back! Make sure to share our channel with your friends so they can enjoy our content too! What's your favorite fight scene from The Equalizer series?
I would love to see a breakdown of some of the earlier fights with Vi in Arcane. She’s a boxer and I think it would be awesome to see some of her fights broken down. Especially Vi vs. Sevika!
I think in the choke for the end of the fight, the damage to his arm and armpit previously factored in to his not going for the figure 4 on the choke, so I think its good in terms of characterization and some logical plotting of why he loses the fight.
A video from Scenic Fights? About one of my favorite action scenes in years? ON MY BIRTHDAY????? Incredible. I wish I watched this when it went live, but I was celebrating with my homies

Great movie! Thanx for the breakdown! I think her palms down was so she can grab his arm at the right time, so she can take the knife away from him and take it over. That's what it looked it to me. The stunts were amazing in those fight scenes. Check out Corridor Crew and they breakdown the stunts in that fight scene. That stunt guy had a pad on his back when he fell backwards on the stairs... amazing stuff!! Much love for Bernhardt too! Been a fan of his since his Bloodsport movies! He's with 87Eleven with the stunts now, he's still a badass!
Very insightful comment! Even with pads on, taking a fall like that takes tremendous skills. We also agree about Daniel Bernhardt, he's been a badass for as long as we can remember.
@@ScenicFights That was a great fall! I'd be scared to do that... even with pads hahaha 😆. Hopefully Bernhardt can be the protagonist in his next movie and kick ass!
You should really break down the fight scene from "the equalizer'' he takes out multiple men in a room above a restaurant, he uses several interesting weapons.

Charlize Theron is NOT a small person. She is 5'10". That is upper bracket for women/height. And she is wearing boots in this scene. Using her height as physical leverage is a technique.
While I found the film a little too convoluted for it's own good, from a plot perspective, I really do feel this fight scene was best in class. Really, really well choreographed and performed. Yes, it wasn't totally realistic, but it found a strong balance between realistic and cinematic.
Thank you! We hope you enjoyed it! Make sure to share with your friends so we can get enough views to finance the next breakdown. Are there any other fight scenes you'd like us to look into next?

Thank you so much for the awesome comment! Make sure to share with your friends and let us know which fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown next!
So glad you guys are back, best fight breakdowns in the game!
We're happy to be back! As always, let us know which fight scene you'd like to still see us breakdown next!
@@ScenicFights seeing as you guys like to mix it up, mma style, maybe check out the final fight at the end of lethal weapon 1 bit of stick
Fighting and bjj in that
I know you guys have actual lives and important things to do, but I'm so glad you're back. For the past several days I've been thinking about leaving a comment on your previous video to ask if you might be back soon, and here you are.
If you ever want to know what we are up to, just message us on our Discord here: discord.gg/zJg5pws
It's been so long, and then you drop this atomic bombshell of a video! I was wondering if you guys were ever going to cover this scene after I saw it reacted to on another channel. I'm already eager for the next video!
New video will be coming out soon so stay tuned! For now, help us spread this video by sharing it with your friends and getting them to engage too. It goes a long way in helping us produce these breakdowns faster.
looking forward to this, make more videos more often! The knife pointers, particularly are very interesting!
I think this is the awesomest (yes, I said awesomest) youtube channel. Great knowledge, explanations en humor. It looks like you guys are getting better at it with every video.
Thank you so much Paul! We do our best to improve with each video. All our feedback comes from the comments! So thank you all who engage with our video.
Glad you guys are back again😮🇵🇭.
Yesssssss!! I miss you guys! My siblings and I always watch you guys all the time and on time can’t wait!!
These videos are all fantastic, and I truly appreciate your insight and appreciation for both martial arts, as well as film making. Amazing work.
We appreciate the kind comment Anthony! May you share with your friends and let us know which fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown next!
A video from Scenic Fights? About one of my favorite action scenes in years? ON MY BIRTHDAY????? Incredible.
I wish I watched this when it went live, but I was celebrating with my homies

Happy to have you hear too! What other fight scene would you like to see us breakdown next?
@@ScenicFights definitely cobra kai season 4's robby vs eli fight during the tournament! there's quite a fair bit of grappling in it too
Great movie!
This is a great channel. Scene 8 in that movie had the best song
You should really break down the fight scene from "the equalizer'' he takes out multiple men in a room above a restaurant, he uses several interesting weapons.
Yes!! It’s amazing
Damn I love when y’all post!
Dam I love when you comment
I’m sure you’ve got this suggestion already but I’d love to see a breakdown of the knife fights in dune (the new one)
Omg yess!! Welcome back guys, hope you remember me 😉(I won't say the thing I usually say this time because I'm just glad you guys are making a new video haha)
The Night Comes For Us, we know haha. Thanks for the support!
Dune has a few fight scenes all involving bladed weapons which would be nice to see broken down. Cheers to another great vid.
Scenic fights always has the coolest T shirts

@@ScenicFights your welcome I will love to see chad breakdown kratos vs baldur from god of war 2018
Damn that’s sick!! Always love these shows!!! Can’t wait for the Ah Sahm vs Leary fight from warrior 😉
Can't wait for Season 3 of Warrior!
@@ScenicFights it’s going to be sooooo good, I wonder who the season finale match up is going to be!
That looks suspiciously like a microtech Cypher? Wonderful knives! Good choice Shahan!
Shahan knows his Knives!
It's been three months, finally!
thank you for explaining all that. It is such a rad movie!
I'd recommend the stairwell fight from one of the Purge movies. I can't remember which one.
can we just give props for logan socks matching his t-shirt so well :)
Man, thanks!
0:50-0:52 Looking at it, Charlize's Elbow strikes are so vicious and full of power!
Charlize Theron was amazing in this fight scene!
Missed you guys, been a long time. Loved the fight scene, loved the breakdown 💥💥. Waiting for that John Wick 3 karambit fight
These videos are always so good.

welcome back
long time no see
Long time no see indeed! We are happy to be back. Let us know if there are any other fight scenes you'd like to see us breakdown next!
Amazing break down and explanation! Amazing video overall. This movie is neat!
Thank you so much for the comment! If you haven't yet, make sure to subscribe and let us know which fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown next.
We agree 100% with this comment. The action in Atomic Blonde is top tier, but the convoluted plot hinder it from being a great film.
Been waiting for your new content😁
Thank you! We hope you enjoyed it!
Make sure to share with your friends so we can get enough views to finance the next breakdown.
Are there any other fight scenes you'd like us to look into next?
Soooo glad you did this clip

One of my favorite movies
Do a fight scene breakdown of Arcane pleaseee, specificaly Vi's moves, I badly wanna see it and you guys are the only ones I trust in breaking down such good fightss.
Another awesome video guys! This is a bit of a weird request, but could you do something from the Yakuza game series? I don't know if there's a lot of ACTUAL martial arts in there (since it's VERY exaggerated) but I think it would be interesting to at least check out!
Thanks guys!
Still waiting for you guys to do Re:Born. Other then that, another great episode as usual.
