Then mysteriously, the ballroom suddenly revert into its former glory and you see highclass individuals appear out of thin air. You walk among them and felt the overjoyed atmosphere, drunkards, laughter and you wonder either you are alive or not. You saw who started the fire and blocked the all the passage in the hall, all hell broke loose. Your ears suddenly only hear the piano while the situation grew into chaos. When the song ends, everything became normal again and not a single mark left in your body. You just realize that you cracked the case that killed many people and theres nothing you can do about it.....

I believe they are referring to the Romanov family. After Tsar Nicholas was overthrown by the Bolsheviks he and his entire family were killed. It was believed that one of the Tsar's daughters (I think it was Anastasia) survived. Although there is little evidence to justify this claim (due to a body being found) it's kind of interesting to imagine. Hope this helped!

Rasputin was said to have cursed every last member of the families that killed him (Rasputin) and then slowly but surely, all of the people (and their families) who had murdered him, died out - and due to the fact that the Tsar's uncle helped kill Rasputin, the Tsar's family all died out...... only if you believe that Rasputin actually had, like, powers and all that..... but I still think that he had to have cursed them as it's too much of a coincidence to me along with everything else Rasputin did for the Tsar's family.

What’s also really sad, is there have been real people who lost their memory and latched onto the idea they were the lost princess of Russia. My mother trained as a nurse in London and one insane patient told everyone her name was Anna and her brother and sisters were waiting for her to go home.
She had imagined it to such a degree she relearnt Russian apparently. And liked helping the nurses on all the rounds.

In the beginning I can imagine the young princess recalling the few minutes before the attack. She remembers the ball, her father spinning with her across the dance floor. Her family dances and laughs and then the attack starts. She sees her family die, she cries while she grabs her little brother and runs away from the castle. They are being followed. People are trying to kill them as well. Tears are coming down her face while her blood rushes through her skin... then she feels it. Death. Her legs stop functioning. She catches her last breath before all the memory vanishes with her spirit...
And that’s the end of the song.
I wrote this while I listened to this song. That’s all I can think about. Nothing else.

There she was, her hair tucked into a high bun, her cheeks that gave her face a beautiful look combined with her rosy lips. Every movement of her was soft, she seemed like she was flying across the room with such a grace only an angel itself could hold. All the eyes were on her.
No one expected it, not even the most trusted lieutenants. It was like a beautiful dream turned into the worst nightmare. The room broke into a loud scream. There she was now, left alone, in the huge looking room. No one had eyes for her. Everyone was rushing and trying to get away. She tried to flee, to find her dear loved mother, to be save in her fathers arms. The only thought running around inside her head was to be in their embrace, she wanted to be kissed on her forehead, to be told that everything would be fine, she would be fine, but sadly, it was too late..
There they were, laying on the ground. Her mother’s eyes, which once held a loving and warm aura were completely blank, her face was pale. Her father who was always brave and strong clasped a hurtful expression. The view made her heart clench. Her shaky hands reached for her father’s cold ones. Sparkling tears decorated her beautiful face.
The next moment she is being dragged out of the huge ballroom into the cold winter night. Her petite figure appeared to float over the white diamonds that decked the ground. Her hair fell into brown waves that towered over her back. She felt heartbroken, scared. Who would do something so cruel? Why would someone do that? Why? Was she able to help her parents? What have her parents done to end up this way? Why couldn’t it have been her? Why them? Where should she go now? Who would help her?
She felt like suffocating in all these questions.
The dark figure, who dragged her out here, made sure to hold onto her hand. They were almost there. There were only a couple streets left, but they were too slow.
    There was a loud shot.
The last thing that showed up in her mind were her parents. She remembered all the beautiful events with them. When they celebrated her birthday together, when they had a peaceful dinner together, when they spent time together, how her mother’s beautiful voice helped her to fall asleep, how her father showed her how to be brave and face problems, how she had tea parties with them, how they always comforted her when she got hurt, how they believed in her when others wouldn’t, how her heart was filled with love and her face adorned with happiness.
Everything was gone, ripped from her in a second.
A last tear drop fell down onto her flawless face before she drifted into a deep sleep,
    once upon a December
(I thought about this while listening to the song, it sounds so graceful and beautiful yet so lost and saddened, I really love it!! 💜)

Imagine you're dancing in an empty ballroom and suddenly a gentleman that you never saw appears and starts dancing with you. You remember him to be the love of your life, but whenever he is far away from you, you never remember him. Only when he is close and this song plays the memories return. Heartbreaking but also enchanting.

This is so beautiful and haunting at the same time as it makes me think of the Romanov's end and their sad deaths, the Tsar wasn't a strong or intelligent leader and etc but the fact that he had to severely pay the price for that (as well as his family) is just cruel. It's sad it had to end that way as his kids were also punished for the mistakes. It's tragic and this hypnotising melody emphasis on that, it's so sad. This song also reminds me of the movie and the song.

The movie was for children, this is for adults who know and remember both the atrocities but can still remember the enchanting lights and life style of royalty but then move on because truly it is from the past and should stay there. (Hopefully lol)

I may be an aristocratic person, but it isn't simply because I am that I wished the practice of monarch still lived to this day. Yeah sure, only a few countries still have it. But these kings, emperors and rulers have no power over the *government*.

    • @soapmaker2263
      @soapmaker2263 2 года назад

At least with monarchy, responsibility falls on the ruler for the welfare of his subjects. The people know who to blame/praise for societal structure, quality of life of the citizens, and the justice/injustice of the laws and enforcement of laws.
Today's form of democracy is just another term for oligarchy of the banks and ultra wealthy. Voting is the adult equivalent of writing a letter to santa. It placates the masses and by creating a veneer of legitimacy for in illegitimate system. There's no real recourse for the common man, no accountability for the people's 'representatives'. It's the worst system of government ever devised. Keep voting lol.

    • @Hekateras
      @Hekateras 5 лет назад +289

Murder of children may seem like no big deal once the group they're part of has become dehumanised enough, and all that takes is accomplishing that the group is seen as Other... That's what's happening now, why Mexican children are dying in ICE custody, it's happened throughout history, and I imagine it happened back then too.. Many people don't know just how backward Russia was in the late 19th century. While Western Europe was enjoying the Victorian age, most of Russia was still un-electrified and practically living under feudalism, only in the 1860's was serfdom officially abolished... On Bloody Sunday - January 5th, 1905 - the Tsars wounded or killed a thousand people who were peacefully demonstrating to the tsar. On April 4th, 1912, 150 miners were killed by the Russian army for striking. And that's just two incidents... the Romanovs ruled bloodily and they made it clear the lives of lesser classes were worth nothing to them, so it is no surprise that by then the class divide and mutual hatred would go both ways... Either way, it was the bloody fruits after decades of suffering and oppression. Maybe killing them all, including the children, was a calculated move to ensure they wouldn't return to claim the throne or attract foreign support. Maybe it was symbolic, a warning intended to strike fear into the hearts of ruling families worldwide. Maybe it was just that by that point, the Tsar's children were sufficiently Other so as not to be seen as human, or be seen as deserving of their fate...
I cannot possibly endorse it, but I can understand it and how it may have happened, and I think the historical context of HOW it happened has important lessons for us, too important for us to dismiss it just as being evil. The Tsar family committed evil acts and so did the Bolsheviks when they revolted. Maybe there's a lesson there about power dynamics and how the few should not rule over many. In a phrase: Monarchy is a bad idea. And it's relevant now, because in the 21st century where most wealth is held by a few rich oligarchs whose wealth is passed down onto those born into their family, we effectively live in a global monarchy in all but name.

Even admire or respect them even when not in power bc doing so would mean the people may prefer them and their rule over the new regime. Basically, the Romanovs were a threat to the communists.

The Communist wanted them dead, not the White Army (or at least on the surface)

@@HK-nz1hf They were the oppressor class and exploited millions of people. If there is an uprising against oppression, the rulers have to face the consequence of their own deeds. I'm not saying killing people is right or wrong, I am just saying everything you do has a ramification. In this case it was karma. Sometimes people can get away with their crimes, sometimes they don't.

I absolutely dearly love this song. It’s one of the pieces we song for choir recently, I felt happy singing this piece-it’s elegance was complimented greatly, it’s astonishing really. Somehow feels somewhat nostalgic to me, I reminisce parts from the movie, which are semi-depressing. I appreciate this song immensely, even if it was quite a difficult piece, it’s lovely to listen to.

    What was
    What could have been
    And what never was
The story of the past of sacrifice , the hope that the princess survived and the despair of finding out she didnt
I have been listening to this song since i was 9 and always loved it. 10 years later i realise that the song doesnt need words. Only the melody itself is haunting, sad, filled with despair , pain, hurt and melancholy.
    The little princess was
    She could have lived
    But she was killed.

    Dancing bears,
    Painted wings,
    Things I almost remember,
    And a song someone sings,
    Once upon a December.
Someone holds me safe and warm,
Horses prance through a silver storm,
Figures dancing gracefully across my memory
Someone holds me safe and warm,
Horses prance through a silver storm,
Figures dancing gracefully across my memory.
    Far away,
    Long ago,
    Glowing dim as an ember,
Things my heart used to know,
    Things it yearns to remember
    And a song someone sings
    Once upon a December

This song gives me chills when I think abt the story behind it… it’s such a beautiful piece. Sadness, anger, pain and happiness all in one song. It’s like you’re on a journey as you listen. Through the hallway of the magnificent palace, into the ballroom where everyone is dancing so beautifully. I get so happy each time I hear this song

The snow swirls around me as I walk through ancient forests, humming the words to a forgotten song. The snow engulfs me, and I become one with the dreams of children. I exist in another realm, beyond time, only accessible by imagination. I am a beautiful creature, rising out of the smoky streets of St. Petersburg. They can not chain me. Come, child, and I will give you rest.

I don't know how to explain my feelings towards this song. Whenever it starts it makes me feel like I'm floating through the forests and feeling the wind under my body... It makes me feel sad and happy at the same time. It makes me feel free but also haunts me with memories...
Whatever it is, thank you. This is more than some notes to me. This is the people I love, people I've lost, places I've been through, places I will go, memories i've made, memories I will make, this is my now, my past and my future. I want to be remembered with this playing. That's all.❤️

“Someone holds me safe and warm”
would always do the trick to make me cry, every single time. and it doesn't help that i feel somewhat emotional and connected to historical times. idk why but i just had the feeling for as long as i can remember. my siblings even joked that maybe my heart and soul can't let go of my past life oof-

    Des images me reviennent
    Comme le souvenir tendre
    D'une ancienne ritournelle
    Autrefois en décembre.
Je me souviens, il me semble
    Des jeux qu'on inventait ensemble
    Je retrouve dans un sourire
    La flamme des souvenirs.
    Doucement, un écho
Comme une braise sous la cendre
    Un murmure à mi-mots
    Que mon coeur veut comprendre.
Je me souviens, il me semble
    Des jeux qu'on inventait ensemble
    Je retrouve dans un sourire
    La flamme des souvenirs.
    De très loin, un écho
Comme une braise sous la cendre
    Un murmure à mi-mots
    Que mon coeur veut comprendre.
    Une ancienne ritournelle
    Loin Du Froid De Décembre.
