Pretty sure what people mean when they recommend the jumping attack is actually the heavy jumping attack, not just the light swing. Maybe give that a try? Haven't used it a ton myself but I see many people doing so. I guess it'll work fine. That one area you saw off in the distance from stormveil castle you actually do know. It's the area you began the game in and had to face the unwinnable boss encounter before you fell into the tutorial. You can get back there later on. Out of these sealed mini bosses, I personally find the crucible knight the hardest one by far. That's the one you first attempted. You saw that the other ones are way easier and it'll stay that way. Kinda weird that they'd put the toughest one in the beginning but then again, that's with their entire world design so who knows Maybe you should remember to turn on your lantern in dark areas more often. It actually doesn't make you any more noticeable to enemies from what I know. Plus it makes the darker areas a lot more watchable. It's kinda easy to forget that thing but it's really handy imo, not just as a content creator. Perfectly understandable why you have fond memories of DS2 considering your journey through the games. It does also have a lot of unique mechanics only found in that game (like breaking doors). The main complaints about DS2 are different in nature and I doubt you'd contest them. After all, it's perfectly fine to like something despite its flaws.
