- In this English lesson I will help you learn some English words and phrases that you can use to describe tough times in life, and that you can use to encourage someone who is going through tough times.
Life can be rough. Things can happen that we aren't expecting that make us unsure about the future. In this English lesson I'll go over some things you'll need to know to understand someone who is talking about tough times and how to speak about tough times yourself.
I wish you and your loved ones all the best in this crazy time.

I'm from Guatemala and we are in a hard time with the virus as well. we all are at home, there are grocery stores open but a lot of places closed.
I watched your video I really like it. It helps me a lot because I am learning English. I was trying to get information about the system of houses because I am not to related with this vocabulary, Could you help me with that please because heater, cooling, gas systems furnace, pipes, septic tanks all this stuff I don't know how that exactly woks or If they are connect to just one, can you help me with that please!!!
Coronavirus is bad for us. However, by contrast, it gives us chances to recognize our values, to take care of our children, to spend time with our families and countless other chances. These are positive impacts of coronavirus to us. Hope all of you who are wathcing this video, reading this comment health and happiness.

Hi, Bob the Canadian. I am from Colombia. I think this is not the end of the world. We should ride out this storm of the virus. In my country there are different points about how to fight Coronavirus, president Duque is trying the best he can, though. In Colombia we need more medical resources, but people are trying to help staying at home some days, and keeping hope.

Hi teacher Bob, Sean from Taiwan. The government just announced 23 new coronavirus cases yesterday, bringing the total number to 100 in Taiwan. Because the majority of 23 new cases are someone who traveled to another country and came back to Taiwan, the government is banning entry to all non-citizens. Due to the skyrocketed cases, people here went to groceries to buy water, tissue paper, rice, instant noodle...I got flu last week. The symptoms of flu are slight fever, sore throat, stuffy nose. I was afraid that I got the coronavirus or not. Hopefully, everything is going well right now after I've gone to the clinic three times this week. I'm glad to be a Taiwanese who has the perfect health insurance system. Take care~

Thanks for your priceless effort on teaching. I am Geumjee. I live in South Korea. I have been curious what other parts of the world life are going on. I run a homeschool with 20 students. We are recommended to close school on 23rd Feb. Since then I stay home except essencial groceries. I go outside once a week for groceries with mask on. I am so scared. Your lesson helped me. The mayor in my province has been committed to keep citizens informed. They sent text messages on phone about who got confirmed virus and tracked the places where the infected person went. The last text message i got was last night 1130pm. They must be working around the clock. Once the names of store or places are open to town people, the places will be closed for 2 or 3 days for big store. People stop to go those places. This is our country's situation.

Hi, Mister over there, I'm from Seoul and practically speaking, there were several times in life where I was having tough times where things weren't going well, but at that time, I didn't know the value of the phrase "grin and bear it !" like you mentioned above in the day's video lesson, so I remember that I had failed to get things to work out properly and thus failed to be myself a little bit and also put some people around me or neighbors to trouble ....😔 ; if I had watched this video lesson and had realized the meaning of the phrase earlier, then I might have toughed it out a lot better .... So sometimes I am very afraid I wasn't do well or things weren't going well just because of my carelessness and of my not being able to follow the phrase very well. But, now it seems like Mr. Bob is telling us that though you're having a hard time doing your work or getting on with something, don't be disappointed too much and just try and "grin and bear it" so that you can find some good ways to be yourself and therefore to promise being happier to yourself ! 😊 😀 ☺ Thanks a heap for your good phrases and their meaningful meanings, and I'll keep that in my mind !😊 Take good care of yourself and I'll see you next time.

Hey Bob! Here's a big fan of you from Brazil. I'm a teacher too. Here in Brazil things started to get ugly this week with an increasing number of cases tested positive for Coronavirus. We're all quarantined away at home trying to make our best of it and ride it out. In this meantime, I've been studying Italian, Spanish, Dutch and German through an app. I also have lots of books to read just in case they extend the quarantine period. I'm never bored at home. Thanks for keeping us updated with videos in spite of the tough times. I love your videos! I hope these tough times get past soon!

Hi Bob! Thank you for teaching us those useful phrases. I’ve been staying at home in Wuhan for over 2 months, during which I only went out a few times to fetch the food my family had ordered online. To reduce the contact among people as much as possible, the local supermarket had been closed, and the community organized some volunteers to deliver daily food. We’re really grateful for those who have offered help. What we have to do is just to stay at home and not walk around. It was not until five days ago that people outside Wuhan were allowed in. But those who need to go outside the city still have to wait for nearly a week. I look forward to the day when Wuhan will be declared reopen and hope the world will get well soon.

Hello everyone, and hi Bob, I have just watched this video entirely now, I'd just like to say thank you! I am from Italy, my name is Laura, and maybe you can see from my profile picture I was in Toronto last summer and loved it! The situation here in Italy is still tough and seriuous, we have been on lockdown for almost one month now, we see the number of infected people decreasing very slowly, so restrictions will continue until at least after Easter, but I guess even longer. I teach English online to a few young learners and teens, and I am sure I will make good use of this lesson to help my students grin and bear it and to let them know that they are not alone. I'm in downtown Madrid, and things aren't going pretty well here. We'll be practicing social distancing for at least 3 weeks because the number of cases skyrocketed. I'm a teacher too, so I'm currently teaching online as well. We just have to be patient and make the best of this problem.

Here in Sulaymaniyah in Kurdistan, we have the same situation , everything is closed except mini markets , pharmacyies and of course Hospitals to provide the essentials for the people here .
The good news is that the Corona virus is not spreading like that rapidly , but there is still a fear of a worse situation.
We do not hope that , we hope that we will pass this situation as soon as possible .

I live in the part of Italy most affected by coronavirus and I want to appeal to everyone to get out of this serious situation; stay at home, do not leave the house except for extreme necessity, for health reasons or go shopping for essential food for living or for work that you cannot do from home. It is the only way to fight the virus and above all out of respect for the enormous work of doctors, nurses and volunteers who are currently trying to save lives.
