Rick said it best "they've had half a dozen chances already". They all act like Liam had NO choice but to turn to Steffy when Hope was late. If he was 100% committed to Hope, his first impulse would've been to find her and make her explain - NOT suck face with Steffy.
Momma Totwogirlygirls agreed! Hope and Liam relationship was always flawed because of Liam’s inability to fully commit to Hope. He always sought comfort in Steffy when things went wrong and he loved being in her presence. And Hope finally realized that weeks ago so this was ridiculous

The wedding in Italy isn't what split them up. It didn't help the situation but what split them up is the fact that Liam always turns to Steffy. What broke the camels back was Ricks lie about them making out at the club. As much as Rick annoys me he is right, they have had million of chances and all the manipulations they have gone through have been stupid and should have been something they could have worked out instead of Hope running away all the time and Liam turning to Steffy.

No matter what the circumstances are, Liam is just a jerk and his character is far from being mature, humble, reliable and honest. So he would always change his pov and attention in an instance. Any woman is better off without him.
