I wish I could have witnessed the initial reaction of Gerry Mulligan, Pepper Adams, Ronnie Cuber & Steve Kupka after they heard this for the first time! It's a shame that the bari sax is such an underappreciated instrument for so long---When I bring mine on stage, people still ask me what the hell it is!

I’ve always liked jazz, but I love that Big Mouth introduced me to Duke. He’s now one of my favorite musicians. Love all of his songs: “Take the A Train”, “In a Sentimental Mood”, “My Little Brown Book”(one of my favorites), “Haupe”, “Satin Doll”, “Mood Indigo” and many others!🙂
Honestly same, I love big mouth and I’m happy it brought Duke Ellington into my life. After the full episode around his life, yeah it was funny and there were a lot of jokes but I love how they went over his song for a sophisticated kind of girl, listening to it was lovely and I had to look into his music more 💚
