MODEL PLANE ON FIRE | Emergency at Knuffingen Airport | Minituar Wunderland Hamburg

Occasionally at the fictional airport of Knuffingen, the Knuffingen Airport 707 spontaneously combusts and is attended to by firetrucks. Its a very cool little simulation to spot at this wonderful airport. The fire in the video is real and controlled.
Earlier this year, I was given the opportunity to film at the worlds largest model airport that is held on display in Hamburg's Miniatur Wunderland. The fictional airport is called Knuffingen Airport and hosts an impressive array of custom made aircraft models scaled o the size 1/87 is controlled entirely by computers and cost a whopping 4 million euros to create.

Kunffingen Airport Airlines Flight 732
The Boeing 707-320 suffered a gear collapse due to bad maintainance, causing a wire in the plane to explode and turn into fire with the 2nd engine burning due to an overheat. All passengers survived due to the good crew and firefighters. The pilots had burns but recovered months later. The Boeing 707, KN-UFF, was fixed two days later after the incident and kept operating.
