Hi and thankyou for all the lovely videos. We don't have many diesel cars here in Canada, only tucks. Fascinating stuff on just how screwed up you can make a diesel engine. I do diagnostics but mainly on US cars and trucks so the information on these vehicles is invaluable should I get one. Same deal as a lot of repair, visual inspection first and don't touch anything until you have too. Sometimes the fault jumps out at you. Listen to the customer and try and read between the lines. They sometimes forget all that has been done or happened. Like "I fitted an aftermarket radio and it did not work after that". One I had recently was I fitted your repaired manifold and now the throttle does not work LOL. He knocked a wire off the throttle body LOL. Sometimes you just know. Been at it over 45 years.
I was hoping with a name like O’Reilly you were based in Ireland, but unfortunately you’re not. after seeing this I would have called you having the same issue with my Mercedes. Super informative upload 🙏
Two things that should be avoided forced regen of a DPF and using easystart on a common rail diesel engine you will always get the haters keep up the good work thanks for sharing your knowledge.
This is exactly what happened to our c250 cdi 2012 2.1L first the boost pipe went then a few weeks later I had to replace Differential pressure sensor. How ever a forced regen was done so im lucky it didn't cause damage to the dpf. Great video
After replacing the sensor couldn't delete the dpf fault so did a full reboot . To clear the code. Now I have learned the sequence how to clear codes thanks mate

Looking at you selecting the different items to load into the live data stream, it's a shame you can't save a selection of checks to automatically load for that error type. (Pressure sensor, etc) Save time. (I know you can save sample, but seems you can save the selection) Mr Goodle reply for fault P246309 was (Excluding your videos which were first in the list) "the dpf is not working as it should be and will need replaced." MB DPF absolutely do need to be cleaned when a system sensor has failed. We did an ML250, same engine. DPF upstream temp sensor had failed, client kept driving with the MiL light on. Vehicle was on ramp, so injected Launch fluid via the upstream temp sensor port. Job done, there are many self-proclaimed DPF specialists who are more concerned about selling their snake-oil additives than actually learning about how to maintain a modern diesel engine in a healthy condition.
Is MB DPF the exhaust mainfold temp sensor? If that failed and you clean the DPF, wouldn't that still send an error message to the ECU? Although maybe no check engine light?
Hi Jimmy Do you know if the radiator shutter mechanism on the c class (250 CDI 2012) is tied into the regen for the DPF? customers car has a B218E :13 fault code in the PCM. Actuation of the radiator shutters has a malfunction. There is an open circuit. I know from working on fords that the grille shutter mechanism can effect the regen so wondered if you knew if this was the same for mercs.
A question Jimmy. Some time ago you sprayed your cleaner into an exhaust manifold. Is this safe to do, was thinking maybe an exhaust valve could be open and product could get into the cylinder. I wish we could get that cleaner here in New Zealand
Jimmy if you go back 8 or 9 months you had a topdon Phoenix plus with. Jlm gun winns fluid and you was doing a regeneration. At that time I would take that you don’t know how to do a reset on the dpf .how did you come to find how to do that at the start .
Oh not sure just learned over time. Some cars won't accept a reset so you have to do a regen. But I always flush it first so its safe to do the regen after
I have a 2012 W204 Merc. Having huge continuous issues with DPF. Showing fault code for air intake leak?! Possibly knackered manifold flap motor or manifold itself. But kind of hoping for an obvious show after a smoke test? How easy is it to count out the hoses underneath the car? Likely a hose leak rather than a manifold fail/cracked manifold? Anyone know what’s more likely please? Had a new turbo sensor a new intercooler, numerous deep DPF cleans EGR sensor change etc. I am getting really concerned as it’s always EML sending the car into limp mode!
Great video, but I think best way to deal with a dpf is take it off and have it cleaned on a flush machine as aggressive cleaning olwuth chemicals damages metals inside dpf and it will get blocked again. Had mine done on a machine amazing difference compared to chemical cleaning through the sensor pipes.

These aren't as fragile as some other dpf

Jimmy any reason you recommend orignal Mercesdes DPF pressure sensor instead of the equivalent Bosch part which is half the cost?
It's just difficult to find a bosch. Most factors around here supply any random brand

It cleans loose ash. Nothing cleans ash solids
