    If you compare the "Catherine Howard" miniature to Holbein's sketch of Amalia of Cleves, you can see a very strong resemblance - same heavy-lidded eyes, same lips and chin - therefore it's my belief it actually depicts her sister Anne of Cleves.

    Fascinating. Holbein was such a talented artist, it's lovely to see his work up close.

    Even though I've seen these portraits countless times (in photos and videos), there is something quite different about seeing them filmed so closely! It's very exciting! Holbein was a magnificent artist. Thank you so much for the fascinating content, Dr. Emmerson!

    Yah the more I look at that miniature, the more I think it looks like Anne of Cleves, but she was Queen for such a short period of time, and she is wearing very fashionable English clothing and we are used to seeing her in her Germanic attire so it’s easy to think it would be someone else, like Kathryn Howard.
