This Soundtrack was one hell of a first impression for the game
how about Woodkid?)
soundtrack is great, ofc
It's uncanny how fast this absolutely pulls you into the vibe of the game.
Agreed!
Yea
It matches the game so well, A 70s American land yacht, Blasting electro guitars. Possibly the most fitting introduction track for a game ever.
And bunch of lgbt stuff of “70s”(!) especially

Such a great use of silence and beautifully mastered!
I'm glad the production shows. I worked so hard on this one.
@@ashellinthepit You did a crazy good job! I recently bought this game and this is the track i keep finding in the radio to listen to
@@ashellinthepit
I love this song
Not only in game
But I put it into my playlist just to listen to on the way
The opening of the game sold me immediately, great work on this man.
This song has to be a Remnant, the way it's wormed into my brain.
Easily one of the best songs I've ever listened to. Made even better by its placement in one of the best games I've ever played.
I think something else is wormed into that brain of yours ;)
In the 40+ years I've been gaming, one thing that sets a truly memorable game apart from the rest is the music. Doom, Diablo (Tristran), Last of Us, Mass Effect (End credits), Death Stranding, all games that evoke a strong emotional response when I remember them because of how strongly the music captured your attention and elevated the experience. Pacific Drive will forever live among these memories because of this song and the way it set the perfect tone for the rest of the game. Absolutely incredible!
You should give Alan wake or control a go music plays a large part in key parts of there games
@@josephwardle1523Oh, my list could've been A LOT larger haha I 100% agree, both of those games were amazing in every way!
@@mightygingercles6481 may I recommend the outer wild (not worlds) and it's dlc? The soundtrack is instrumental and a different style to what you seem to prefer, but I find it incredibly powerful, especially in context of the game.
PSA: SEARCH AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE OF THE OTER WILDS AND ITS DLC. ITS A KNOWLEDGE MWTROIDVANIA. THE MORE YOU KNOW THE WORSE THE GAME FOR YOU. JUST GO IN BLIND AND REFUND IN TWO HOURS IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT!
As a fellow enjoyer of emotionally impactful soundtracks, i need to recommend Outer Wilds to you. That music for that game, and the game itself, still emotionally affect me to this day. Never have I played a game where the music, gameplay, and moral/theme were more tightly connected and meaningful.
Sulphur and smoke
Glows through the snow
And smells like money
Rivers for spines
Between the dry pines
Of bones unbecoming
You might have to hang behind
Hang behind me
You might have to hang behind
Red eyes on the highway
Ghost on the road
It's a cold one
What a white one
My heart it froze
It's a cold one
Thinking of home
You might have to hang behind
Hang behind me
Hang behind me
You might have to hang behind
These lies on the highway
You might have to hang behind
Hang behind me
Hands behind me
You might have to hang behind
These lives on the highway
You might have to hang behind
Hang behind me
Past behind me
You might have to hang behind
These dead eyes on the highway
p.s. I LOVE THE SONG
Having "streamer safe" mode, this is one of the few I have on repeat on the radio, I can get tired of it...yet just a couple minutes later I find myself humming it, or turning the radio back on to listen to the song, it truly is one of the Zone's anomalies that target you instead of the car.
Have you completed it before I give you a spoiler
@@jasonbourne00700 not yet, I appreciate the spoiler warning, I may be close to, I'm into the deepest zone. (I just want to unlock/research everything before beating it).
What is streamer safe mode I’ve browsed the settings before and didn’t see “streamer safe” mode
@@jlaporte25In the Audio tab of the setting, right at the bottom, basically it just disable the songs that aren't copyright free, in case you want to stream the game, to avoid DMCA
@@Drenix ohhh okay
This song is so good it gave me chills. It definitely gives me that driving home after a late shift and enjoying the ride back vibe.
This song playing in the demo is what ultimately convinced me to get the game. There’s something oddly relaxing about hearing this playing from your car in the distance while looting abandoned homes.
The switch up in vocal octave at 4:00 is great. Plus the intense uptake in the music. Really good song. Truly does standout.
What would Death Stranding be without the songs of Low Roar? What would Pacific Drive be without A Shell in the Pit? The immersion in the soul of the game depends on a great soundtrack.
This is such a simple song, it's so amazingly done. I wish there was a whole album of just this theme, so well done.
I really hope I am able to carve out the time to finish an album!
@@ashellinthepit if you put the same amount of yourself into it as you did this song, it's going to be amazing. I have faith.
Out of the whole radio soundtrack this song just blows me away more than the others. It’s so beautiful I’ve listened to it so many times now I just can’t stop
Gotta say I'm so obsessed with this song its the only one I search for on the radio in game. Gives me chills, amazing work man.
Same :D Wish you could just loop it haha
I thought I was the only one doing that!😂🙌🙌
2024 is going crazy with these bangers🎉
Helldivers 2
Pacific Drive
And soundtracks like this. Man that makes me want to keep living.
Pacific Drive i got to be say this game is great. Yes it has a strong learning curve but i learned if your just a quick rabbit and grab as much as you possible can on the road towards the next exit you will be ok.
You make it sound like you’re are going to die ( like Suic- for example) when you say “makes me want to keep living”
(I know you won’t)
(Hopefully)
@@Foxy_G_P well yeah
I'm not gonna unalive myself😅
It's just idk, life had some crazy changes since 2020. Not much things now are making me really excited but this track (and game) was one of them
Having this song play in the intro was the right move. Set the perfect mood for the rest of the game.
Only 126k views after this long is criminal. Needs more, it’s an amazing song and anchored a great game perfectly.
I am seriously considering adding this to my "driving music" thumb drive in the car I inherited from my dad.
you should !
as soon as the game began and this song started playing i KNEW i was going to love this game, amazing song for first impressions
Immediate goosebumps as soon as you start the game, it really sets the tone for the game!
And i think it sets the standard for what could be categorized as a "Pacific Drive type beat".
I wonder how the devs license the music for the game?
I can think of a few tracks that would fit the mood when listening to this track, and the other ones on the radio.
Two that immediately popped into my head was "The Devil Makes Three - Ten Feet Tall" and "Ben Howard - Oats in the water".
I hope the devs reach out to more artists and add more songs to the game!
This track goes dummy hard
I skipped until I got this song when I was going through the last gateway. This song has a new spot on most of my playlists.
As someone from Western Washington that spent some childhood summers in the Olympic Peninsula, this game blows me away. And this song really does the atmosphere justice. Y'all made a straight banger here.
I keep listening to this song on repeat in-game and out. Great job.
This song is so good! I absolutely loved playing the demo for this game and I was so happy to see that y'all wrote music for it! I love finding you guys in the credits of my favorite games, first Wandersong, then Chicory, and now Pacific Drive! You guys are all awesome!!!
So cool to hear!
The music in this game, man...
This track absolutely makes the game shine IMO. The atmosphere you've crafted with it is second to none. Amazing work :)
This has been added on Spotify to my actual driving playlist. I've been listening to it on repeat for a while. The vocals here are just so incredible. I'm unsure if this track was made for the game or before the game but it's just so good.
Как же это круто. Этот трек и игра встали в ряды культового Night call и Драйв
yes I will gladly spend half my attention flicking between the stations just to get this on as I'm driving through the mid zone trying not to crash into all the anomalies
a serious stand out of all the other great songs on the radio (and the absolute banger that is the last section of the last mission)
Lol yes flicking through the songs to find this one has caused me many crashes lol
Do you happen to remember which radio station/ frequency? I want to traverse the Zone with this song.
@@_Arkane its random when you switch channels which song plays which is rly annoying
@@_Arkane as frog said it's random, you can go forward a song and back and you'll get a different song
WTF.. one of the "100% heart songs" of my life... and it came as a total surprise..
As soon as the game started and this song played, it instantly grabbed my attention. I drove slow the entire way to not only listen to this, but to make it more atmospheric too. Afterwards, I went and got the album and have been enjoying all the tracks.
I've been waiting for this moment since the demo dropped. Favorite song on the radio!
god, the opening sting hitting me right as i linked a gateway was an eye-opening experience
sent some actual shivers down my spine
This song is soooo gooood! Really comes together with Pacific Drive to make an amazing experience.
Had a remarkable first impression opening with this song. This game will be "one of the good ones" someday.
When I first heard the vocals I thought it was Antony Hegarty singing, just going off the tone and frequency of the vibrato. There are not a lot of people on the planet with a vibrato quite like this, this is a very special set of vocal chords, just a haunting sound. As others have said, after witnessing the audio/visual combination firsthand, I don't think any other song would've fit the opening scene of the game quite like this song does, what a freakin' mood. Love it!
this should be on the radio. for real this is perfect
Absolutely love the song, if I have to hear "you might have to hang behind" one more time I'm gonna scream
anyway time for another listen.
Finally the official release, ive been waiting ever since the game's demo was made available
This game has a fantatic soundtrack!
Шикарная песня!
Truly incredible, been stuck in my head since I heard it.
The soundtrack is very good, but I really love this song in particular.
It's hauntingly beautiful.
Damn this song is actually moving, it freaking touches my soul. It might be a jaring comparison but last time soundtrack from a game made such an impression was hades... and that's the highest the bar can get. AMAZING stuff dude. Fits the game in this weird uncanny way. Edit - also I feel like this is going to be the most underrated game song this year.
Man the dopamine this song gives is too good! Pacific Drive and Helldivers 2 are my GOTY picks!
The Instability is closing in on the last checkpoint. The deadly combination of fog and anchor obfuscation has caught you off guard. You barely spot the final corrupted anchor.
It's time to drive like hell.
First time hearing something like this.
I have hunted down to hear this from the game.
This is one of them moments you realise the discovery of new music is neverending.
Drawn to this track like a moth to a flame.
on repeat last few days since i installed the game
a game has magnificent visual and audio design
I like the immersion of the other tracks, like something you’d actually hear on the radio. but this song just perfectly encapsulates the game and world so much that it’s quickly become one of my favourites. Amazing stuff.
So good. So so so so good.
Mad Woodkid vibes. And I'm all in for them!
Good ear! I was listening to a ton of S16 when I wrote this.
@@ashellinthepit This stays in my playlist for sure. Thanks for the great opener!
I did not know of the artist you spoke of, but I like this track very much, so I checked him out, Awesome stuff!
I’ve been playing this game for 4 days straight and this is hands down my favorite song
What a beautiful track. Can't stop hearing it in my head. Great!
Out of all the songs in the game, this is by far my favorite. Great job!
This is such a haunting song, as it should be. It is also the biggest earworm in the best way.
You have done an absolutely stellar job on this song. It's powerful, moody, dark, and beautiful. I've had it on my everyday playlist since the game first came out. It opens the game with such an atmosphere, its hard to look away.
The lyrics are superb, and its hard to explain, but your voice and the way you've mixed the vocals, gives me such a Dave Gahan/Depeche Mode Violator Era vibe. It's perfect. I'd happily listen to a full album.
biggest earworm in history for sure. i was singing it for like an hour straight earlier
this song is the perfect first impression. PERFECT. and speeding to the gate with this song is amazing.
I know “a shell in the pit” is the band name but I always read the song title as “A Shell in the Pit, a Ghost on the Road.”
I thought it was a good dichotomy to describe your station wagon.
This song is amazing. One of those that get stuck in your head forever. Perfect atmosphere for this game. I added this song to my road playlist
What a fucking song, man. Holy shit.
What an opening.
perfect opener for that first drive, sublime. congrats on the success!
Have no idea why, but this song got my attention as soon as I heard it in game, and I *loved* it.
I love the passion in this song! It hits me so hard! Thank you!
I haven't even gotten around to the game myself yet, but I've seen others play it some and I absolutely adore the atmosphere it has including the music. But this song does so much for me, so many layered details, my brain loves it so much!
Thank you for your work and putting it out there, I keep coming back.
I couldn't imagine a better song for Pacific Drive, and I am listening to this daily I love to cry over it, and ride my motorcycle while listening to this.
@Ashellinthepit
Who does the vocals to this track? Is that you?
This song does an absolutely amazing job of evoking emotion and atmosphere. As a gamer of 30yrs, I'll say one of, if not, my favorite in-game anthem I've ever heard. Intoxicating, in all the best ways.👏
It is me! I gotta say these comments have been a real vote of confidence to get singin' more.
@ashellinthepit do it! You've got talent, my guy
Also just gotta say I'm a musician myself, would love to throw down some guitar and backing vocals for you, if you need them. Keep on keeping on
Pacific Drive is one of my favourite games of the year, and this song absolutely drew me in. Brilliant first impression for the game, and I keep coming back to it over and over again
I"m getting crazy Sleep Token vibes and I'm all for it.
I play in VR and sometimes I just stand in the garage, listen to this masterpiece and get carried away by the atmosphere the song and the game are creating. Beautiful.
Added to my permanent playlist. Outstanding song, literally one of my alltime favorites 😊
One of the most atmospheric soundtracks to one of the most atmospheric games I've played. Your car might be your only protection out there in the zone, but the radio gives it a personality.
Agreed!
I was looking on Amazon music to add this to my playlist! So damn good
update on 5/2/24, Got it on Amazon music! whohoo
Captures the feeling of being in the 90’s and a song comes on that you like and then can never find again, even the station doesn’t know what it was
a tiny bit nirvana, a tiny bit tea party
love this song soooo much. thank you
This is an excellent song, thanks for makin it
Best one in the game.
The best indie game soundtrack so far to me
I did a double take when I saw "A Shell in the Pit" doing music for Pacific Drive! And one of my favorite tracks from them so far?! I remember when yall had a track on Rogue Legacy!
Thanks for the killer tunes!
This song was probably my favorite in the game. Well done A Shell in the Pit!
You really knocked it out the park with this track! Reminds me of Woodkid. I keep listening to this track on repeat, and would love to hear an entire album in this same tone.
Was listening to a lot of his latest album when I wrote this!
Love your work; well done.
Gorgeous. Thank you.
Well done, can't wait to see what you do next.
Thank you for providing such amazing music Its wonderful to discover such meaningful and soulful sound and ambiance
Love this song!
Masterpiece
This was literally perfect for the intro of the game
Brilliant soundtrack! Love it, love from Belarus❤️
This going on repeat so much in my car in-game and it get a few plays every day outside the game to ! so damn good song
amazing work have't been connected with games music since Death Standing and Destiny 2, truly got immersed with the world and the music
I hope great things come your way, unbelievable music with lots of emotion behind it!!
The more i listen to the lyrics, the more solemn the song becomes. Fits the game very well. I'm a huge fan
What an amazing song ♥
This really stuck with me, and I'm always looking for it on the radio. Really sets the opening! shame it isn't on soundcloud tho
such beautiful music
This song is fantastic.
Honestly this song perfectly sells the game, ironically kinda setting up the back story plot of the Olympic peninsula, while at the same time kinda foreshadowing a few plot events towards endgame
