Hi Gemma The fitting of the belt going down first would be used if the seat belt buckle was long as this prevents the buckle hitting on the underside of the seat. If the seat belt buckle is short the belt can be routed either way. Thanks. In Car Safety Centre Team.
Do the tether straps go on the bar or through the front seat? Your video of installation with extended legroom showed a different method of attaching the tether straps
You may fit the Britax Two-Way Elite on the front passenger seat of the Fiat Punto, so long as the passenger seat belt is switched off . Please also read the instructions in the Punto's manual,concerning the use of child car seats, to make sure there are no other exclusions. Some manufacturers specifically state that seats may not be used in the front passenger seat. Follow that advice. Simon Bellamy, In Car Safety Team
You attach the tethers to the front seat as normal as shown in the video, then you place the tether buckles (female ends) under the front seat torward the dashboard, then buckle them to the car seat. I hope I explained this well enough.
How do you know if the seat belt is long or short though? And if it is long, should I use the method in this video r the other? I'm sort of confused, didnt really get the answer with "belt going down first". Is that this video?
If you are not sure about the length of the seatbelt buckle (female bit that you plug into) then always use this belt routing - it wont do any harm! I work for ICSC
I am a little confused as I have watched this and a few other videos. However in this one the car seat belt only goes under the cover and not through the seat at all. Is this correct? Surely it needs to go through the seat to secure it?
Hi Joanna. The belt does go through the seat, its just quite difficult to see. If you aren't sure you could use the routing from the video 2-Way Elite CDH Adapted, this might be easier for you to see. Come back to me if you are unsure :)
This same person made another video besides this one about installing the Britax two way elite in the front passenger seat. Click on their name. It shows how to put the tethers on (like here), but instead just sliding the buckles under the front seat toward the dashboard.
