Hey fella! Been watching you for a bit. I’m a newly minted road warrior without an RV/camper. I’m planning on going down to quartzite at the beginning of November. I have my SUV and my dog is pretty much it. I plan on buying a tent at the local Walmart before I head down, so I have somewhere to sit/hang out besides the car. My plan is, as soon as possible to buy a small inverter generator from Harbor Freight so I can charge my phone and laptop/equipment without going into McDonald’s and sitting for an hour or two. I have no refrigeration so for meals I cook I’ll buy the food the day I use it. I’m nervous about the whole deal, but I’m doing it to see how I like it. I always have the option to reverse course and go home. I’m also considering buying the year pass for New Mexico before rates increase in January. So if I do like it, I can continue on in New Mexico. Just starting out. And figured this is the best precautionary way to approach this. Maybe I’ll get to meet you down there.
Last winter I stayed in an RV park for the winter - like my electric blanket! In March went out to Scadden Wash. Since I only have my motorhome no car, Scadden is close enough to ride my ebike in for drinking water and groceries. Every couple weeks would go into an RV park to empty tanks, fill with fresh water, do laundry, good shower, fill propane, etc. then back to Scadden. Never had a ranger come by but did park in different spots when I came in. RV park I used my Passport America so the $50 a month a paid for times a month was worth it. If you are on BLM land and their dumpster is full - if you have a truck or car take it to the transfer station. It is free and keeps it from piling up on the ground around the dumpsters
Thank you for all the great info, my friend. Can't wait to get out there, but I am still caring for my mom now. I love learning all about Quartzsite because I'll make it one of these days.
Hey everyone, there's two discount stores with all kinds of stuff. Lots of dog and cat food. It's all good stuff from places like Costco. Some is a little outdated but most is good. Kenny's has a dollar ONLY store in the back. Kenny is sick so someone else is running it now
Great video Rob, thank you for sharing! I just love how honest and sincere you are, especially at the end when you are thanking us for watching! 10 more months and I'll be coming that way!!
Another great vlog Mr Rob. This will be very helpful for those visiting for the first time. Looking forward to getting back to the Q for more fun and adventure.
I remember when HoBoTech did that, I thought it was pretty cool of him. I certainly needed this video, because, I’m really doing my best to make it out there this year 🙏🏻 Great video 😎👍
Another very informative video. This will definitely help new people get their bearings and able to understand everything that the Q has to offer. The DG Market has really reasonable prices, I did a video on it.
Like you, I've been following the happenings at Quartzsite on youtube for last three years . Am actually thinking of visiting in January for the big tent just to experience it. I do the SUV tent thing rather than rv, so still hesitant since it is January. But probably still warmer than Washington😅.
A great video, as usual! I’m planning to come out in January for the first time and I’m very excited but very nervous. I’ve watched all of your videos as well as hundreds of other videos but still a little nervous and stressed. I think it will be fine. Thank you for your videos and helping us newbies!
Thanks, we are looking at visiting Quartsite this winter. Your video is helpful for understanding some of the basics. Many of the other RUclips videos skip over much of this information.
Thank you for all the info about Quartzsite! I really want to spend a winter there as soon as I can. Your picture map of all the BLM locations was helpful. My concern is where to get the freshest or even organic options as far as fresh produce,...I'm used to so many options in Minneapolis, &I don't want to change the way I eat just because I'm in the dessert 😅 Thanks again!-Jen. MN
Good video. Thank you. I keep telling myself that there are many thousands of RVers in Quartzsite and, at one time, every single one of them was a newbie. They did it and I can do it too.
Great video! I am not a Quartzsite wannabe ... probably, but I like learning about it ... who knows. I just sold my 33 foot 2 slide all mod cons Class A and Jeep tow ... purchased a Yukon XL to try car camping and possibly future towing a trailer so am watching all to learn. Thank you!
Thanks for the info! We are going for the first time in January. I have been watching lots of RUclips videos and feel I have a good understanding of the place. We have a week planned in January, then on to other destinations, but may spend a little more time there in February and March.
Thanks for the informational video hopefully I wont make any rookie mistakes thanks to Travels with Dottie I got a Loungers club t-shirt 4u if you like ✌
I went last year for the first time but only stayed about a week Then came back a few weeks later for another week I really like the town and I’m planning on coming back this year and try to hang around for a month or??? I really enjoy your videos as they’re very informative
The first time I went to Quartzsite it really sucked. I went to paint a house nearby in Salome. I wanted to go shopping for food, so I went to a Dollar General it took an hour to check out because there were so many people. I've never seen so many people in a Dollar General, every store is like that the whole time the big tent goes up. Maybe if I didn't go there to work it might have been great. Be prepared for long lines if you have never been there before.
Awesome vid. Thinking about going this yr for the first time. My van conversion doesn’t have a toilet. Can you please explain what are the restrictions there regarding no black water tank. Tks. - Mike
In LaPosa South you must camp within 500 feet of a vault toilet - there are 10 of them. Here is the official rule: a. In Pilot Knob, Midland, Tamarisk, and Hot Springs LTVAs, you may camp only in self-contained camping units. The La Posa, Imperial Dam, and Mule Mountain LTVAs are restricted to self-contained camping units, except within 500 feet of a vault or rest room. b. Self-contained camping units must have a permanent, affixed waste water holding tank of 10-gallon minimum capacity. BLM does not consider port-a-potty systems, systems that utilize portable holding tanks, or permanent holding tanks of less than 10-gallon capacity, to be self-contained.
Thanks you for the great info, its such a big place, a little daunting and overwhelming, you've helped, my question is with the 14 day limit on BLM, is there any reason you can't spend the next 14 days at a RV park in town and then go back out to the BLM again for another 14 days, rinse & repeat
thank you I am getting ready for my first trip to Quartzite . be there for 2 weeks I like your advice hope to see you there
Great information. And God Bless you in Jesuscrist our Lord and Savior. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
THANK YOU! Your video is the best so far for the first-timer to Quatzsite. I'm more convinced to make the journey.

Fresh vegetables and fruits at both markets - organic doubtful
Will be there in November 😊
Thank you, Rob, can’t wait to get to Quartzsite. It’ll be my first time.
I'm seriously considering Quartzsite this winter. This video really helps. Would be cool if several first timers could join up.

Yes you can. 💯 percent

@@Dottietravelsthank for the very informative info.
I love your channel. Listen every day.
Save your pennies all year so you have the fees to pay. Or bring a check. They don't take credit cards

You can do that or pay $40 to stay in the LTVA areas and then bounce back to the 14 day area.
Can you stay at a free site for 14 days and then stay at the paid LTVA for 14 days even if closer than 25 miles?
Yes!
It is on my bucket list.....maybe this winter
