    To avoid hot mixing, and more even combination, you can bloom the gelatin in cold water for about 5 minutes. It will mix more readily in the hot water.

    I work at Barnes in the lab. Everything looks good in how you did it besides the way you mixed it. What we do is pour the hot water into a 5 gallon bucket and mix the gel powder in slowly with an industrial looking plastic beater that chucks into a hand drill. Go slowly on the drill, or you'll get a lot of foam. When it's mixed, pour it into the mold.

      No clue, and it's gelatin so it won't break, it just tears or deforms.

      @@TATVCanada We used to use polymer to thicken drilling fluid.. it might be worth giving that a try.. it’s clear and zero smelll. Get it in 20kg bags also. Might not harden off enough though.

    your calculation is wrong ! You must calculate the deceleration . The FBI balistic gel has an 190,600 m/s2 and your gel has 142,189 m/s2. You must increase the quantity of gelatine and don-t forget to add a preservative (sodium benzoate or sulph dioxide, propionic acid etc )

    Good vid. All the other vids say not to boil the water. They say 107°F is optimal.

      I've heard both, but found the gelatin dissolves much better when it's boiling. I guess whatever works for folks is the best way.

    It's easy to make colloid silver water, I wonder if that would fight the bacteria? It's known to kill something like 675 different bacteria. Justa thought. That's pretty cheap gel!

    • @TATVCanada
      @TATVCanada  6 лет назад +1

      I hadn't considered that but it's an interesting idea. My only concern would be that colloidal silver often discolors quickly; have you tried it? Right now I'm working mostly with different strengths of hydrogen peroxide. Citric acid was a bust.
