- Houseparenting is a unique and rewarding career where married couples provide Milton Hershey School students a structured, caring home away from home. They teach life skills that help students build character while also encouraging success socially and academically. One recently retired houseparent couple is Denny and Karen Wolgemuth. For 15 years and among all three divisions, they filled the houseparent role. When they reflect on their tenure as houseparents, they realize they were able to impact many students’ lives. The ties they built within the Milton Hershey School community changed them, too.

As an alumni I would like to thank you for your time at MHS, I graduated a lifetime ago, but still hold the values taught by the school. I enter MHS as a 5 year old so I was a lifer. I remember starting out in JJ ( junior jackson ) then onto KW ( keystone weiser ) then onto VG ( vian glendale ). I’m proud to say I graduated in 1971, while they still had the farms, it taught me a work ethic that I still hold today and I’m 69 years old. May God bless you for your contributions to MHS.
God bless the house parents of MHS! They are the best!
Aww did you stay close to the school in Pa?
