- Paris Marx of Tech Won’t Save Us joins the gang to discuss his new limited series, Data Vampires, all about how data centers (shock horror) really aren’t all they’re cracked up to be, and instead just act as gigantic drains on the resources of the localities in which they are based. Also, we discuss one year of western media and political cover for Israel’s actions in Gaza and its neighbouring states, and reflect on the people who revel in making “humanity” a more contingent condition than ever.

The opening discussion about the Chagos deal made me think "surely looking up 'woke labour government surrenders chagos islands' won't turn up any results", but the ever brilliant British media continues to deliver. Shockingly similarly worded headlines, even. Just amazing, perfectly normal and in no way bizarre journalism going on in that country.
all is not well on Normal Island. Press the red button, Comrade Xi - my country yearns for development.
Our media actually manages to be worse than the US media
In fairness to the Irish electricity grid, the reason why "Amber Alerts" have been happening recently is in part due to the shut down of coal fired power stations across the island, because they're either being replaced, or upgraded to being gas fired instead.
Ireland's grid should become more resilient once the HVDC interconnector with France is completed, and Ireland can buy in French nuclear power, instead of the two current interconnectors, to buy in Scottish wind power and Welsh nuclear power.
Has Palmer Lucky ever read any Asimov?
The entire point of the Robot stories is that even "perfect" safety features will fail in unforseen ways. Fully-autonomous weapons systems are existential threats.
Man, "people subjected to historical genocide now gleefully carrying out genocide with similar justification" was not on my 2024 bingo card, but here we are. Tf is this reality?
2024? The zionist entity in the middle east has been there doing that since 1948.
The final end of a really dumb idea, the country that should be called "Balfour's Mistake."
It's hardly surprising. It is a known phenomenon in psychology that the abused are more likely to go on to become abusers themselves. Mix that with 'God's chosen people' rhetoric, and it's as simple as 1 + 1 = 2
Well it's our trash future!

"Welcome back, such good products and services. We're talking about how that one time the US had the UK commit a genocide to build a military base for 5 trident missiles."
Elevating Jeremy Corbynn to the status of "Disney Princess".

Diego Garcia is the only point/place for the US to launch ground based planes centered in the Indian ocean. We (Americans) need you (brits) to sort out the base situation, because in the event of a war with China, Diego Garcia is a critical point for bombers and fighters doing missions over the Indian ocean to interdict shipping.
In air refueling helps with figher ranges, but the bombers already have sufficient range to use it 'as is'. There are also a variety of one way missions that could take off from Diego garcia, then land somewhere else, and repeat the process in the opposite direction.
contracted janitor mention 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🍻🍻🍻 today i am cleaning bathroom stall partitions with a product marked "DANGER! EXTREMELY EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE AEROSOL."

Palmer Lucky is a Battletech Clan science cast dork.
