The women who gave me all of my strength. Their new sound doesn’t speak to me but I hope it does speak to the next young person who needs their magic. I am unapologetically myself because of these two. I became unapologetic the first time I seen the music video-even if I didn’t quite have the words for what I had been apologizing for yet.

16 years later and I'm back to this song. There is truly something so surreal about listening to a song in your 30's that you used to cry your heart out to in your teens.
We named our daughter after Tegan, and believe me when I say we're constantly playing T+S songs to her. I lullabied her to sleep last night by repeatedly singing the chorus of The Con hahaha!

It’s seven years later but we named out third daughter Teegan. Extra E so no one would pronounce it like Megan as they do in the UK
@@boltzmannbrain8698 that's so strange cos in Australia my friend Megan pronounces it the Meegan way. I would've assumed Aussie and UK pronunciations would be the same!
@@DrewPan to be honest I only have a sample size of one. Around the time my daughter was born I was corresponding with a lab in the UK for work and the lady’s name was Teghan. I told her my daughter was just named Teegan as well and that’s when she told me she pronounces it with a short E. So perhaps she is an exception. I do like Tegan and Sarah but I named my daughter in honor of Teghan Skiba. You can find her story here on RUclips. She lived close to us in North Carolina but I didn’t know her. It’s a gut wrenching story that hit me in the gut and changed my life forever

the line 'nobody likes to but i'd really like to cry' always gets me. And the second verse '1:15-1:30' is pure amazing songwriting. Would love to be able to write stuff like that. Amazing song!

The opening notes rank with MCR's "Welcome to the Black Parade" in my mind. It instantly brings me back and sets the mood for the song.

It's probably because they've gotten a much better financial response from the type of image and music they're producing now. Though I agree, this is exactly what I fell I love with when I first discovered them :/
I don't mind the new stuff for the purpose of jumping around my room, but yeah, this side of them will always be my favourite side of them.

I understand your point, I mean, this old stuff is so good, but Tegan and Sara always evolved and changed their kind of music.. From acoustic/folk to indie rock, sainthood is kinda confusing and heartthrob is very poppy. We can't blame them, personally, I love all the eras, but I understand that some people miss that indie sound...
Heartthrob and all of their albums are fantastic albums and they all deserve a part in our hearts. But if you notice in teh interviews they have done for the 2013-2014 tour dates they have been saying that with Heartthrob they set out to push themselves and challenge themselves lyrically and artistically in fact they wrote some of the songs outside their comfort vocal ranges. It also didnt help that Tegan had strep throat ( I know she was sick and I saw this written in another thread about why she was sick) during some of the tour and press coverages. They also have stated that as they grow as artists they also grow stylistically in the way they dress. There is nothing wrong with the new or the old Tegan and Sara and if you are true fans you would respect that they are growing and wanting to give fans new ideas new songs and new sounds instead of just reproducing another the con or so jealous or sainthood. This may not be popular opinion but if you like the old Tegan and Sara thats fine just stick listening to their older stuff but dont get pissed off that they are changing as all people do.

i showed Tegan and Sara to my 51 year old dad and he loved them. Said they were original and fantastic, and now he wants to listen to more of them! And he has the best music taste of anyone I've probably ever met. Tegan and Sara are amazing.

Ok, it's been about 5 or so months since I've started listen to T&S, and after hundreds of videos and adding songs to my iPod, I can officially say I'm a T&S-er for life. And these Spinner podcasts are really the best lives out there. Really, flawless.
