This is an excellent video! Having only moved to Ottawa post-confederation line for university, I was unaware of the 95 and its history. Hopefully the extensions to line 1 can recapture that vibe somewhat in the coming years.
I've been riding ottawa transit for many years now, I was there the day the Confed. Line opened! It saddened me to see the 95 go, but the train is truly a faster and better experience, set only to improve with the extensions.
Just came across this, thank the algorithm for sharing it! As someone who grew up in Kanata, the 96 was my lifeline to getting around the city. Much like the 95, it was always interesting seeing how such a long route changed as it passed through different parts of the city and the vibe change as different people got on and off. The non-express 118 via Algonquin is another certified classic route. Great work on the video, your storytelling is very engaging and love the song at the end haha. Hope to see more videos from you!
thank you! not gonna lie seeing you make videos about ottawa was one of the inspirations to actually dig into making videos myself. there are more videos on the way! I have 2 scripts in the works right now
THE TRANSITWAY! MIGHTY MACHINES REFERENCE! But seriously, I first learned about the Transitway and just the concept of a bus-dedicated highway in general from that show, and kid me watching Qubo thought it was so freakin' cool. Also, love the Foamer Meter reference from Miles at 3:49 lol
I really enjoyed this! Great use of historical footage and storytelling. I also feel somewhat vindicated for not being the only person to borrow Miles' "Foamer Meter" at some point 😅
The way you talk about it suggests that the 95 is Ottawa's equivalent to the 2 Barton (which I have not taken, only heard horror stories of) and 4 Waterfront (which I _have_ taken) here in Hamilton.
2:15 - that's definitely not the Ottawa river that it crosses - that's the Rideau river.
@@firstname1lastname127 you're right! i rushed all my v/o work over 3 days. oops.

@@yukaira So glad to hear that! Best of luck, looking forward to them!
Was a daily on OC 2001-2007. Didnt know how good we had it, feel bad for the people riding it now
I'll always miss the days of the Orion-Ikarus articulated buses in the 90s on this route.

@@AverytheCubanAmerican an Avery comment... im honoured... the transitway system only accepts CANADIAN DOLLARS
Incredible coverage
@@PiplupJames Thanks! I hadn't seen anyone truly do the 95 justice. I hope this video can do it justice before it fades from memory :3
@@yukaira you just taught me Ottawa transit history :)
Absolutely loved this. I'm so glad to see some Canada rep!

No the 2 barton cannot be compared with the legendary oc transpo 95.... But you could compare it with go Transit route 40 kinda
@@TheGreatLaker Honestly, yeah, I could see that.
