Hi Mike, I was there today. I am a Cebuano and had been witnessing Sinulog celebration many times in the past years. Honestly, Sinulog 2023, I never really enjoyed it that much today. For one, there were only few contingents that participated, several participants had back out due to the venue. The city had last minute preparations in the new venue. The venue is not comfortable, when it rains, many parts could turn muddy, when it is sunny, it is so very hot due to the absence of trees and tall buildings that serve as shade against direct exposure to sunlight. I was there today and the sun was just very scorchingly hot and so intolerable. In fact, you could see and hear the ambulance passing to and fro from time to time. Some dancers who are mostly kids fainted. My daughter was there in one of the floats. She said it was terrible. Secondly, it is not very accessible to everybody esp. private cars are barred from entering, around five miles away. There were free rides though. But when it's time to go back to the place accessible to public transportation, one has to walk around 5 miles or ride a habalhabal bec free rides were no longer available. In contrast to the past years with the usual venue at the heart of the city, very accessible to private transpo, big malls, buildings and structures wherein one could comfortably watch the parade. When it rains or the sun is hot, you always can always get cover under tall buildings and houses alongside. Since the venue was at the city center, one could always get through the traffic in the periphery. Today upon going home, i got caught by a terrible slow moving traffic for 5 hours which normally took me only 30 to 45 minutes under normal circumstances. Generally, it was not fun for me today witnessing the Sinulog.
Absolutely agree especially the accessibility of SRP as there is no public transpo and even if there were free rides, it wasn't enough.....the street dancing vibe in the city streets is sadly gone😣 The only advantage is the huge space but offset by being too open and no shade for the participants, tourists, etc.
yeah I was there also planning to get to the grand parade but unfortunately I was stuck by the heavy traffic towards SRP. so I make a detour hoping to really get to SRP but still its traffic everywhere so I decided to U turn going home.
Thank you so much Idol, to visit here in the Philippines and actually to observe our Sinulog Prestigious Catholic Culture. I'm proud of you Idol. From Alejandro Curacha The Master smaller vlogger. Or Small RUclipsr.
Thank you sir for coming back here in Cebu, and thank you also for the time that you have given me to take a picture with you. I don't know how to put it here,, 😁😁😁 But thanks anyway, it makes a lot to me... GOD BLESS....
Hello . Welcome back! There is also ATI ATIHAN FESTIVAL in Kalibo right now, its the 1st day today for 1wk long celeb. After this pls visit the place. Salamat po
🛑 Catholics during the Sinulog Festival simply give thanks and praise to Santo Niño [Spanish for "Holy Child"] because this marks the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines. The devotees dance and shout "Pit Senyor" which means "Long live the Child Jesus!" This is NOT WORSHIP, it is just respectful reverence, not adoration. Even King David, in 2 Samuel 6:16, danced in front of the Ark of the Covenant during the procession. "Santo Niño" is biblical and is found at Acts 4:30 KJV and Luke 1:35 (New American Standard Bible) or Lucas 1:35 (La Biblia de las Américas) Spanish Bible. Amazing video indeed and God bless you Mike !!! ❤️💐
