Almost 3 years ago I invested into my friends company and we put a concrete pad and a building ourselves in his backyard. Best decision we’ve ever made now we have 3 cnc machines in that 800 sq ft shop doing our best to make a difference for our customers. Started the whole company with 25 grand of our money and a Tormach mill and that was life changing

I purchased a syil X7 milling center because I wanted to make a real difference in my life and my families lives. I figured I would be better off working crazy hours for my self instead of my employer so I took the leap. 9 months later I have a part time employee, more work than I can handle, and so so so many new skills that came with the "Push" of starting a machine shop. Best decision of my life.

If you don't have access to financing, you need to take it slow. I work a full-time job, bought SolidWorks, and after work, I design for a few companies. Every weekend, I work on renovating an old barn into a CNC workshop. I look for deals, and that’s how I managed to buy a few 20-year-old machines. Every day, I pray they’ll start once I finish the renovation and get the electricity hooked up. I started this journey 3 years ago :D Estimated 2 more years, and I’ll finally see the first chips fly!

@@lucasenerson8986 My goal is to support clients from problem identification to a complete solution - many machine shops rely on ready-made designs, whereas I offer comprehensive design support. As for acquiring clients, it all started when a client reached out to me after I changed jobs, wanting to continue working with me. I discussed it with my previous employer and got the green light. After that, it was mainly word-of-mouth, LinkedIn, and other social media.
However, I don’t actively push for clients - there are only 24 hours in a day, and I strive to balance my full-time job, side projects, and family. For the past year, I’ve been compiling a list of companies in my country so that when I decide to fully transition to running my own business, I’ll have a solid contact list to call from. I’m aware that only one in several dozen calls might lead to something, so at the moment, I wouldn’t be able to make a living solely from design work. My full-time job supports my family, and side projects are helping me pursue my dream - building a CNC workshop.

The biggest downfall would be the lack of HP, but that just equates to taking a bit longer to hog out material. 90% of my work is onesie twosies, so It doesn't matter. In a many part production run, that's where you would be lacking compared to a more powerful machine. Holds tolerance great and if anything breaks (example spindle) parts for them are cheap. I tried the NRE and lower price per part method a few times and it is usually met with a laugh. I think the connection with the purchasing agent is more important in the long run. Once you have become embedded with your customer and as long as you are making quality parts and delivering reasonably on time, you will have a customer for years. The view through my aged eyes is that there are so many talented CNC machinists and shops now with impressive tools, that even the dimmer bulbs in the pack can make wonderful parts - and relatively quickly. It's the other stuff of marketing, shaking hands, providing samples, and helping at the design stage to make the customers' parts less expensive to machine, that mean the most for success. Some of those characteristics don't come easy to machinists though. We tend to be on the quieter side.

Most big businesses look down on their employees "button pushers". Don't wait for someone else to teach you in the machining trade because chances are they never will unless people leave and they are forced to train you to fill the gaps.

I'm 38 years old and have bills so starting at the bottom of the pay scale is a hard obstacle to overcome. I know in my mind I want to pursue manufacturing but not sure how to go about it. I have started the Titan Academy which is a start but still not sure how to get noticed without prior experience. I've had several 3d printers and taught myself how to use it to a point I had one customer that send me files to print and I taught myself thru hours and hours of RUclips how to use basic CAD with Fusion 360. Since starting the Academy I've switched over to Solidworks. I've never used a CNC but I'm glued to videos of them but I really enjoy Cad design so I'm not sure if there is a job for just Cad design or if CAD and CNC are the same job?

Perhaps not the attitude to succeed.
My first cnc machine was purchased by the customer I was developing for.
I was providing solutions for them with my limited means amd convinced them to purchase a CNC plasma, after another hear and more positive results I convinced them to purchase a CNC router capable of doing aluminium.
There is no straight forward path, you must seize opportunities and make sacrifices.
BTW I had zero idea how to operate a CNC machine when I asked for one

Видно что вы просто трудитесь ради счастья себя и своих близких, непонятно почему ваши политики хотят убить как можно больше людей в остальном мире. Может в этом величие вашей страны и её благополучие?
