Looks awesome and for those not familiar with the Model 3, it looks convincing enough to look OEM. Just hope the kids in the back don't play around with the front passenger seat while someone is sitting there. You'd also need to be content with listening to whatever the kids want to watch in the back while you drive, even if you can't see it yourself. I'd assume you have all the same controls from the front to control the back screen, such as volume and AC, but maybe not so much for what media is playing if someone is using Android Auto or Apple CarPlay? In theory could the driver watch Netflix while the backseat passenger tries to watch RUclips? What would come out of the speakers?
If the front was using Netflix it would take over the car speakers. If you don't want the rear to distract the front you'll have to pair some headphones or a portable speaker to the rear display instead of the car speakers =)
According to your method, I succeeded. Now I am thinking about how to change the icon of the mini instrument produced by their company, such as changing the gray car into black. You know that the icon is not difficult, but how to change it? Have a good idea?
I think what you're looking for is modifying an APK. I believe the launcher they're using is located at: tsl_hx_update/system/priv-app/tslalauncher-release.apk. APKs are also just zip files so you could potentially replace the images you want but I haven't looked into this or tried it. You may want to look up some tutorials on how to modify APKs. Good luck and do report back if you manage to do this successfully =)
Hi, i tried flowing your steps, but i cant change the pictures. I made the update but now the boot screen shows a linux pinguin: Any idea what i have done wrong?
I have the version with OTA update and Hansshow does not provide a file for update. Any idea how to change the boot logo/lock screen still? Thanks ahead and great video!
@@wonked yes but it does not let u replace the image .. u can only delete old image and add a new image..do I just name image the same as the one I deleted? You can't modify the original image from winrar
Hello, that's great that you can change the logos. I'm from Germany. You explained it so quickly.... Is it possible for you to upload the modified file with the Tesla logo, basically the way you have it, somewhere? that would be great 🙂
Thanks for the comment, I'll try to elaborate a bit more on how I made the replacement images: - I downloaded the grey Tesla logo from www.tesla.com/en_au/tesla-gallery > Tesla Branding at bottom of the page - Open your favourite graphics editor (GIMP, Photoshop etc) and make a 1280x800 black image - Save the black image as a png and name it lock_bg.png - Add the grey Tesla logo to the black image, save it again as android_logo.png - Rotate the same image 90 degrees anti-clockwise, save it again as boot_logo.png - Make a new folder on your desktop put android_logo.png & boot_logo.png inside - Inside the new folder make a system folder with these subfolders: system/etc/dzt - Put lock_bg.png inside the newly created dzt folder - Edit the .upd file as per my video or if on Windows use WinRar without unzipping it
That's great, now all you have to do is replace the pictures with whatever you like. What I described earlier was how to make the Tesla backgrounds I used.
@@wonked I have now deleted the original images with WIN rar and added the new images. If I now unpack the upd file, my pictures are in it. That was it? Because they wrote so much
There's no need to unpack the file, just copy your modified upd file to a USB thumb drive and plug it into the rear display and it'll automatically detect it and ask to be installed
*Bonus mods at the end were money* 👌🏽
This was incredibly helpful. Thanks for showing how to get rid of the horrible vendor images.
Great video. Best one on YT covering this 7.2” display
Thank you for your kind comment ❣️
Great tutorial but can you provide the images you used for the Tesla logo ?
The logo change worked a treat, thank you very much. Now i just have to find out how to fix the horrible and cheap looking ui translation.
Where can I download the images to replace the Hansshow ones?
I have the new screen that has bigger vents and the UI different with android 13, does it also work for removing the logo?

Do you have a link to the Tesla boot logos?
I have a gap where the screen meets the armrest? Any solution for that?
Make sure your wires are routed and tucked as far in as you can get them. The unit has to have enough space to sit flush with the armrest.
I have the Hansshow H7 screen. will this file work?
Can you post a link of that boot logo and Android logo? Would greatly appreciate it..
drive.google.com/drive/my-drive
Great review thanks!
Does Netflix/RUclips work in the rear screen if the car is in Drive, or is this feature only available in Park?
It works in drive as well.
@@wonked thanks
does this work for 7.5 rear screen ?

The same file I linked in the description should work, assuming it's the same device.
@wonked It's not unfortunately. It's stil la rear screen from Hansshow but the bigger 7.5 inch version
I don't see the link to the proper firmware file you used can you assist?@@wonked
Did you get it to work?
Question for PC.. do I have to name the image the same? You cannot edit the boot logo without unzipping it?
On PC you should be able to edit the zip file without unzipping it with something like WinRar
@@wonked yes but it does not let u replace the image .. u can only delete old image and add a new image..do I just name image the same as the one I deleted? You can't modify the original image from winrar
Yep that's right, just put the new image in the same place with the same name and you should be good to go =)
