Ghyrson is so fun as a budget commander. He costs like 13 bucks, but every other card you need is like 4 cents.
U can get ghyrson for like 5 bucks online, so the whole deck is pretty much budget haha
I recently started playing it's legit one of favorite decks the only thing I don't like is how often my ops come after him
@seanward9779 run a lot of protection and counterspells lol all my friends always target me as soon as he hits the field, and even when im legit not the threat, people kill all my stuff and destroy all my permanents, they did it so much I added 4 counterspells, a deflecting swat and a march of swirling mist, now they are made that I use all those cards, but its their fault for targeting me when im behind all the time....

luckily it was fairly brief
i was casually watching this in the background while i did work and suddenly found myself immersed in this whole game. this game was INTENSE on who was the threat on a turn by turn basis. Im like. Oh red pingyness is nasty and yah all were gonna die from it and then just 1 turn later Green Stompy takes over and then back to Dungeon Crawling and everytime i thought Nerdgirl was out for the count she turned it around.
AWESOME episode yah all! Such a fun episode.

always love to see dungeon decks in action, I have one that sprints through dungeons pretty quickly and eventually infinitely for the win.

Mia is a menace bro lol, that deck is kinda fire....glad to see a deck I actually pilot win though, built a little different but that's what I like about Ghyrson you can build him in so many ways....I never stay alive that long in my pods Im usually the first one dead lol

16:39 I always place the die on the rules text since you have to take the card to read it anyway. But from a distance, it's much easier to recognize a card by its artwork than by its text.
I usually put "counting dice" above the tokens, so they don't get confused for other types of counters. e.g. "Is that 4 1/1s or a 1/1 with 4 +1/+1 counters on it?"

Love the budget theme, please more! But one question, why could you activate cankerbloom 22:28 , I thought it had summon sickness?
Cankerblooms ability isn’t a tap ability. It requires a cost to be paid so summoning sickness doesn’t stop it from activating

I built a 4 color monocolored deck. What I mean by that is that it uses a 4 color commander and then for each card type, you can only use a single color. For instance, I built Wernog/Elmar and all creatures are green, all instants are white, all sorceries are red, all enchantments are black, artifacts are colorless, and your land base is built like a normal land base. I decided to not use planeswalkers because that would take away one of the card types. No card can have multiple card types, so no artifact creatures or enchantment land, etc. Lands that turn into creatures are allowed because they only have the land card type as well as vehicles are allowed since they are just artifacts. I did allow cards to have abilities that uses other colors, like Skyshroud Elf has red and white in its text box.
It would be cool to see what you guys build if you were to follow these restrictions.

Necromantic Selection can actually grab commanders bc it's part of the spell resolution and they can only be moved to the command zone when SBAs are checked. I personally would have grabbed Ghalta off that, even if it delayed the initiative trigger by a turn.
Came here to say this. I would have taken ghalta as well and kept a big stompy creature on my field.

Some time has passed since this video was filmed, and the deck she has was old. Prices change over time and people use different sites. One person may use TCG low and the other Cardkingdom. There will always be some differences. No one was double checking each others price sheets.

To be fair I think this person was talking about the price of the deck. Pointing out that Mias deck was over budget.

Price is by no means a perfect indicator of power level, Beezy's Ghalta deck kicked ass and I sent some of the cards I saw to my friend who plays Ghalta. But when I saw Mia drop Thassa (who I just picked up for my own Yarok deck lol) I went hold up--in a budget deck?
@@ShellShockOnecan confirm, thassa is not budget she is a 10+ dollar/euro/shmeckles card.. she even uses the expensive alt print from theros

Yes and no - things that make you pay life or lose life are not affected - Fiery Islet makes you “lose life.” Whereas Shivan Reef deals damage and would therefore deal 3.

This channel is tied for my favorite commander channel, i do love worst possible, but i do wish both channels would just play whatever they want and not worry about budgets or strength, im noy saying play cedh, but ymthey should be putting whatever they feel like in their decks when they play them, makes it more realistic!
more realistic, but less fun. Building restrictions keeps people on their toes. building new and fun things. 52 games a year of "whatever" does not sound like the kind of content I would want to make.

Just to let you know that hitting your self with a pain land when playing Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph will hit your self for 3 also
That land is loss of life. That is not the same thing as damage. So Airball would not take the extra damage.

@Oreospartacus he wouldn't have lost but it's a little nonbo that I caught myself doing in that deck.
Fiery islet asks you to pay life, which doesn't trigger Ghyrson, as he only cares about specifically damage.
The land is loss of life. So there is no trigger.

Airball forgot to take his damage, ghyrson starn deals an additional two damage from any source he controls that deals one damage to any player (including himself) 😂
@@Human9391 are you talking about the land? If so that is life lost. No damage.
@@DeckedOutEDH I had it confused at first because Airball called it "Pain ourself". That's something that should be communicated better if it's relevant with a commander or cards on board. Granted you guys would know exactly what's going on, but someone who doesn't know/remember every one of the thousands of cards would easily misinterpret it.

Fiery Islet should deal 1 damage and then Ghyrson Starn should deal 2 damage every time Airball tapped Fiery Islet for mana while Ghyrson was out
Fiery Islet asks you to pay life, it doesn't deal damage. Ghyrson only triggers if the source explicitly deals damage

Paying life isn't taking damage. Ghyrson only cares about damage.

There is a difference between "lose life" and "damage". So for these two cards there would be no extra damage.
