Great news from Beatle George! Can't wait this sounds awsome! This is a good album with good songs from George! Living in the material world is a good box set with everything in one box set good idea the way to go vinyl and cd and blue ray all together! And some good outtakes and extra songs Sail on Raymond! Thanks to Olivia Dhani and George of course! Thanks Andrew for all the information and breakdown prices!

I think the 5,000 copies of the box is very calculated and I do think it will sell out, though the regular CD and vinyl editions will be easy to find in shops for a while. Excited to hear this remix! Particularly for Don't Let Me Wait Too Long and The Day the World Gets Round, my two favorite songs on the album.

The version of “Sunshine Life For Me” on the “Ringo” album features that same line up. I’m thinking this version probably features Harrison’s guide vocal with the regular backing.

This CD deluxe edition is a lot better than ATMP CD box...They cocked it right up with that one.

I'm really looking forward to this release, it's my favourite George album. Not sure how much the tracks need remixes, as opposed to simple remasters, but I'm here for it!
Looks like SDE for me. I was thinking that the two CD set would perhaps be enough, but I was pulled in by the book and recording notes booklet. I probably could have lived without the vinyl, but I did get the crate with vinyl so this will be fine. The crate did also have a wonderful book and was the only place to get the recording notes, so I am glad that these are included in a smaller footprint set this time.
A couple of negatives. There were a couple of bonus tracks/video items that were included in the last Living In The Material World release that are not included here. Would have been nice to have included these for completeness in this set, although I do have these. The other things I would perhaps have wanted was more outtakes/demos. Another disc would have been the icing on the cake. It does seem to be that the Harrison camp are more reluctant to dive too deeply into the archive which is a shame. This will probably be the last version of this album I will be getting, so it does close the book on this period for me. They never followed up the Early Takes Volume 1 CD so I assume that series is dead.
However, glad to see something appearing on the George front. Let's hope that it continues.
According to the tracklist on Burning Shed, the song version (only!) of "Sunshine Life For Me (Sail Away Raymond)" is also included on the Blu-ray and... CD2 of the Super Deluxe Boxset (i.e. it's NOT on the CD2 of the 2CD edition).
That's right. But the instrumental version of "Sunshine Life For Me" can only be found on the flip side of the 7" single that comes with the SDE. I don't know whether that will be available for streaming or not. Leaving either or both versions off the standard 2 CD set is disappointing.

The cd set looks about the same size as the All Things Must Pass 3 cd version, so I suppose that will look ok on the shelf for anyone who had that one.
I am very excited I’m definitely gonna get the super deluxe box set and I’m also very excited about the Beatles 1964 on vinyl it’ll be exciting to have it on vinyl. It’s exciting to be a huge Beatles fan like I am.😅
Super Deluxe says “while a super deluxe box adds a blu-ray audio with new Dolby Atmos and 5.1 mixes (alongside a hi-res stereo version)” so it looks like there will be a 5.1 and Atmos mix.
One bonus CD only ? Where are the early demos ?

Exciting news. I’m in the happy they combined all formats in one box too. I usually get both LP and CD. However this time I might pass. Thinking just of going with the 2 CD Deluxe and the colored vinyl. Will be similar to what I did with ATMP as I got the big CD set and colored vinyl only with that.
On Apple Music it looks like Sunshine Life For Me will be on the Deluxe Edition playlist. I also noticed on GHs own shop, that Sunshine Life For Me is on the 2nd CD in the Super Deluxe Box...

Hi. It's Eliot From NYC. FYI.......CLOOUD NINE by George Harrison will be released on Vinyl on BMG/Dark Horse with a Black Dark Horse sticker on the cover!
Usually when you choose the super deluxe version of a reissue over the 2-CD version, you get heaps of additional audio and/or video content. But in the case of LITMW you get one extra song (presented in two versions). I know we're also getting a great book, two LPs, a blu-ray, and a 7-inch single with the super deluxe edition. But for me this is just duplication and triplication of the songs on the CDs but in formats I won't be listening to. Still, if you want George's demo of "Sunshine Life For Me" you have to pick up the SDE. A better value - again, just speaking for myself - would be to replace all of the vinyl discs with two or three CDs of previously unreleased material. As it is, we're getting exactly one alternate version of each song on Living In The Material World. If there's not enough decent material in the vaults to justify those additional discs, then just give us all of the recordings from the SDE on a 2-CD set. No duplication on different formats! Sell the vinyl and blu-ray editions separately. The Harrison estate does not have to turn every reissue into a super deluxe edition if there's not enough content to fill up five or six discs - which is clearly the case with this set. Remember that band back in the sixties that kept their singles separate from their album releases because they didn't want the fans to pay for the same song twice?
This release makes sense of the comparative unimportance of the Beatles Capitol albums release. The pockets of Beatles fans are finite, like the solo material that has yet to be remixed which reduces when more solo material is updated. Frankly the new Ringo album produced by T Bone Burnett is one release that I hope brings fresh hope to fans.

For a while, I attributed the muddy sound on Living in the Material World to the fact that I first heard the album on a non-Dolby Capitol cassette, manufactured in 1980, which I just happened to find new at a record store in 1990 or thereabouts. I was so disappointed when I bought the album on CD a year or two later. Except for a little less tape hiss, the CD was not much of an improvement over the cassette at all. Later remasters showed little improvement, if any. Still, LITMW is not only my favorite George Harrison album, it's my favorite solo Beatles album. I have high hopes for the remix.

Hi Andrew, you didn’t mention the 3 cd set for ATMP, that was a cd size box with a lift off lid, that contained the 3 CDs plus booklet,
I expect the 2 cd set of material world to be similar. That’s assuming they will go with a box style. It’s a bit hard to tell from the promo pictures,

After Mind Games earlier in the year, another great piece of Beatle news. Afraid the announcement of The Beatles US albums had zero interest for me.
Cancelled my order for the The Bealtes Mono box set (getting select copies of the single mono albums) and gettng the LITMW Super Deluxe box set.
Super Deluxe Version for me. Cannot see it being just 5000 Copies globally as it was the same back in 2009 with the Beatles Mono CD Box Set supposed to be 10000 copies, but ended up being far more than that. I think the 5000 is just to gage how many copies they sell and if demand outstrips supply then more will be pressed.
Hoping that Concert For Bangladesh will be both concerts in its original running order, both CD/Vinyl/Download/Streaming with the Films of Both Concerts and Film of the Rehearsal and maybe go back to the original album cover. Wait and see regarding the other George LPs.
Wonder if that is a clue that maybe Ringo will be releasing S/T as maybe a Deluxe Release for its “50th” anniversary, as I cannot see it being a Super Deluxe unless there many takes of all the songs released. Nice to make discoveries and did wonder if Sunshine Life for Me (Sail Away Raymond) was recorded in New York, as I thought that The Band relocated to Los Angeles in late 1973, but they were out there in March 1973 recording for what became Moondog Matinee, and always thought that The Band didn’t start working again together until the second half of 1973.
Strange to think that it was announced today 19.09.24 as tomorrow 20.09.24 brings the release of Bob Dylan and The Band performances of the 1974 tour. Just hoping that Capitol gets round to releasing The Band’s performances on that tour, and hoping that before he passed away Robbie Robertson had a plan for Super Deluxe Versions of Moondog Matinee, Northern Lights Southern Cross, Islands and The Last Waltz.
Since they said "limited" and not "strictly limited," you may be right about a possible repress if it sells out quickly.
Great news, I am glad they combined the vinyl & cd's in one box, now i only have to buy one box. I only wish it wasn't so close to the Beatles big release of the year. My wallet can't stand the strain.

nice summary Andrew I've bought the big box set after my moan, and as you say with only 5000 units I needed to get my order in...only gripe in particular in the big box there just the duplication of material, it gives you the albums, then the same on cd then the same on bluray. couldn't they mix it up a bit more content wise?
Thanks a lot Andrew for your pre-review or just information about this new Living In The Material World release. But...I am really bothered with this new version. As you can see by what's shown on your video, there were at least a total of 235 takes of all the tracks not counting the one track for each Try Some, Buy Some and Miss O'Dell so there were more than the 235. They have decided to only give us a total of 12 outtakes, 1 track for each song released. For an LP that made it to #1 on the Billboard Charts, I don't know about the rest of you, but this is very disappointing to me. And you can only get the Blu-Ray and the B-side of the single by buying the expensive Super Deluxe Edition which I don't think is very Super or Deluxe to me. I could go on more about this release, but I think what I mentioned right here is enough for now. Take care.

I knew there was a new pressing coming but didn't know it was all analogue!
This album is a bit of a mixed bag for me, with some outstanding tracks paired with some lesser material. Given that, a delux box set digging further into the leftovers seems like a questionable idea. The album deserves a good remix though, the original mix is a bit underwhelming compared to other GH albums.
George's music has the best musicianship of any Beatle. George's song equal or surpass several songs of the other three Beatles on most albums. Gone Troppo would be an exception. I think the box set much more interesting than Lennon's or McCartney's with a few exceptions.
I wonder if this box is exclusive to GH website given it is limited to 5000. Will it pop up on Amazon? I am leaning towards 2 LP set.

Hi Andrew! I'm pretty sure the deluxe boxset will easily surpass the 5000 copies even during the pre-order period. Will they press more if necessary? And more important: will they use Optimal in Germany or GZ Media for the European market? I bought the 8 LP set for All Things Must Pass, but only when I got a discount (it seems it's still available at roughly 200 €), and when I compare that to the LITMW deluxe I'm not sure it's fairly priced. Do I need the CDs if my preferred medium is LPs? Do I need a blu ray player? (Can I afford getting both?) Yes, you should have mentioned that there is a 12 by 12 hardcover book, but I guess it will contain many photographs from the gatefold inner photograph sessions that fans know from the boxed CD anniversary version years ago. Plus, of course, liner notes by Paul Hicks and a bit of beautiful design. You see, I'm on the fence about this set. And the musical material is getting thinner. I do listen to some of the outtakes from ATMP that are exclusive to the deluxe, but not often. Am I interested in outtakes from further George albums? (Glad that Miss O'Dell is included, BTW.) I'm a 1st generation fan and over 70 now, I'm not going to live when Cloud 9 outtakes are due. Do I care? Not so much anymore. I play the original albums a lot. I welcome improvements such as the Mind Games set that, in my mind and ears, made a fairly mediocre production live and breathe for the first time. I'll definitely welcome a more transparent Material World, but maybe I'll settle for the 2 LP set. Just my thoughts.

When I bought this album in 1973, I liked about half of it and found the other half sanctimonious and dull. Still do. All I care about is the blu-ray. But hundreds of dollars to get it is not going to happen.

The same deluxe titles over and over again. LINTMW was last in 2006 (Deluxe Edition CD/DVD COMBI), All things must pass, Concert for Bangla Desh, Wonderwall Music , Electronic Sounds in different new formats. It's getting boring. What about a BluRay from the 1990 Concerts in Japan ?????????
I brought the LITMW2006 box set when it came out. Shame they didn’t include all the outtakes then with that release instead of just a DVD
Extra Texture has a horrible mix! And Dark Horse is no better. Both could benefit from a proper clean and polish.

I am super excited for this! I remember leaving you a comment and you responding quite some time ago in regard to the “muddy” sound of George’s albums of that era. I can’t wait to hear Living in the Material World elevated to the crystal clear dynamics that Paul Hicks brought to All Things Must Pass. I think this will raise people’s opinions of this album the same way that the Mind Games set did for Lennon fans.

Well i just shelled out $450 Canadian for the new Beatles box set now a week later i shelled out $250 Canadian for the new George box but happy to do so
I would buy GH super deluxe before anything Lennon. I would have preferred a CD only bc I don't collect vinyl. So I guess I'm out.

A Dark Horse set may be where you see some 1974 tour recordings.
My opinion is unless you are an avid beatles fan together/ solo and are a serial collector, these super expensive sets are not needed. They add a song we may not have like in this case sunshine life for me as bait. I love the beatles as much as anybody, but i work too hard for my money to buy these sets , that i will probably listen to it the first time i receive , then it will join all the others on the shelf. These record companies are very shrewd and know how to prey on our love for the beatles!
The Estate of George Harrison is definitely living in the material world, so to speak...
I think this release strikes a great balance, when you don't have to have the format(s) that you don't gravitate to, OR get the full set. "Well done, Dhani and Olivia!", I say 😊🎉❤

There are so many 'individual' songs of George's that I'd hoped they might release together on an album, in the same vein as the Beatles 'Past Masters.' Including duets with Bob D., Horse to Water, etc.

If the deluxe set with the vinyl, CDs, and Blu-ray is limited to 5000 copies worldwide, there are plenty of genuine fans with virtually no chance of obtaining one of those. A very bad move from Dhani & Olivia!
You can preorder it on his website, amazon, rarewaves, townsend, so no problems buying it at the moment.
They need to get in quick then.

No need for this, Mind Games or US Mono 64. Rubber Soul should’ve had priority over the lot.
It is interesting though that the 2CD set is 24,99€ (in Germany), the 2LP set is 49,99€, and the Super Deluxe Set 144,99€. That means if you get the Super Deluxe you‘re essentially paying 70€ for the BluRay, the vinyl single and the book, right?

This release will be on my birthday so I will be getting one if the variants, probably two cd set. I have got several vinyl versions of this album including the complete George Harrison albums vinyl with lenticular cover. I managed to put in two recent RSD picture discs into the box too. 😂

2CD and 2LP editions feature the new stereo mix and offer bonus discs with alternate takes, while a super deluxe box adds a blu-ray audio with new Dolby Atmos and 5.1 mixes (alongside a hi-res stereo version). Unfortunately, the box set also includes, rather unnecessarily, both vinyl records and a seven-inch single.
