It's crazy how things can change. Arron the Aussie legend turned out to be a violent drunk that assaulted this guy and drove off and left him in the middle of nowhere with no food or water. Arron(AH) came back a day later. By then bike guy(BG) had started his own rescue and was in contact with police by Sat Phone. And they said to go back with(AH). That would of been the most awkward trip EVER. When they got back to Perth AH got aggressive again and the police had to get involved. WOW! WHAT AN ASS HOLE (AH).
Yes, alcohol all round. even when the phone slipped off the dash you could hear it hitting the bottles. At the end, old AH Aaron was pissed as a nute. Not a good Australian at all.
im sorry this happened to you but lesson learned, didn't even take me 10 seconds to realize aaron is a feral walking red flag. be careful who you let into your friend circle, people be all kinds of crazy these days.

Funny I met John Jarratt several times through mutual friends. He was a lovely bloke. He was so convincing in Wolf Creek though that I never saw him in quite the same way again! Haha!
Number one red flag is drink driving. Sure, some people can responsibly have one beer on the road, one beer impairs your judgement and drinking while driving suggests or indicates he is not responsible when it comes to the road. Constant heavy alchohol use maybe be another red flag (Alcoholics can turn violent or unpredictable on certain drinks). If this is the guy that assaulted you, you may want to look for red flags in the future. It's a learning experience. :)

This is what is a great mate, to come that far to rescue your bike. I have a good mate who drove hours to come and pick up myself and my grandmother when my car broke down between Sydney and Brisbane - the next couple of days we drove back to fix the car and drove home! Fark, how is the paint protection coping in that track with that scrub? BTW, I find cans easier to travel with and squash easily for transporting your rubbish!

Let's see. Two friends, alone, in a hot(?) car on dusty roads for several days on a rescue mission for one's motorcycle. That is enough to strain a friendship. If unfortunate surprises also occur, such as bad weather causing rough road conditions, it will bring out the worst in a person. Now, add that their friendship is new with a likely language barrier and frames of reference that may differ. I am not defending bad behavior or drunk driving and certainly not violence but I would like to hear Aaron's story about the incident.
If you intend to continue this kind of travel, you need to get better at reading people man. Like some others here, I could see straight up that Aaron was not the guy for this rescue. He clearly was too reckless a personality type for remote travel.

That's why you should be prepared to pay yourself out of dangerous situations. It ensures "good service" and no excuse for future resentment. This guy drunk and let out all of his resentment on you. Learn from that! Human nature and psychology is a very complex thing. I have studied psychology (got a degree) for a long time and still have tons of uncertainty. Don't be fooled by your own assumptions. The human conundrum is hyper-complex.

No one is "making out he's the bad guy", just questioning his decision to do this trip, was it just an unfortunate incident or something preventable, maybe something in between. You should have met my father. Nice as pie when sober but a violent jerk when drunk on whisky. Me and my step mom were beaten up a few times. In fact, she ended up with a broken arm twice. After disagreeing with him he used to stop the car, tell me to get out, then he got out and commenced beating me up at the side of the road. I have been married now for over 40 years and never once laid a hand on my wife and kids. I remember those dark days as a kid as though it was yesterday and I'm now 71. Still to this day, I cannot stand the smell of alcohol on someone's breath as it puts me in a state of readiness to do whatever it takes to defend myself.

You know nothing of that guy but you went ahead and trusted his good intentions until they were proven otherwise and him a douchebag. That's why you should be prepared to pay yourself out of dangerous situations. It ensures "good service" and no excuse for future resentment.
This guy drunk and let out all of his resentment on you. Learn from that! Human nature and psychology is a very complex thing. I have studied psychology (got a degree) for a long time and still have tons of uncertainty. Don't be fooled by your own assumptions. The human conundrum is hyper-complex.

@@djohnd we don't know the full story, you never know the full story anyways. No one is "making out he's the bad guy", just questioning his decision to do this trip, was it just an unfortunate incident or something preventable, maybe something in between. It is pretty crazy that people's comments went from "Aaron is the most awesome Aussie" in the last video to "Aaron needs to be locked up" in this video.

You should have met my father. Nice as pie when sober but a violent jerk when drunk on whisky. Me and my step mom were beaten up a few times. In fact, she ended up with a broken arm twice. After disagreeing with him he used to stop the car, tell me to get out, then he got out and commenced beating me up at the side of the road. I have been married now for over 40 years and never once laid a hand on my wife and kids. I remember those dark days as a kid as though it was yesterday and I'm now 71. Still to this day, I cannot stand the smell of alcohol on someone's breath as it puts me in a state of readiness to do whatever it takes to defend myself.
