New to frags since last year. Late 40s. I very much appreciate this video, as clones and designers (save a few, naturally) are not so attractive anymore. I notice differences and sublteties much more now, and find that the aforementioned categories are not so unique...they do not stray too far at all from each other, requiring, actually, imo, a fine nose to detect their differences. Like all-inclusive resorts, they follow a pretty simple formula. Niche brands present something more significant...the likes of what world travelers want/understand.
I don't own very many niche fragrances due to price point but I was able to hold Chergui and I am very happy with the purchase. One of the best Tobacco fragrance!

I strongly dislike both Serge Lutens and Frederic Malle as they smell extremely outdated relative to modern fragrances. I'm going to put up some predictions for Part 2. I think 2008 is a lock for Jubilation 25, 2005 should probably go to Desert Marocain, 2010 will likely be a lock for Aventus, for 2011 I'd lean Royal Oud. From 2012 onwards, there are many great releases every year. For 2012, I'd be picking between Alexandria II and Amber Aoud; for 2013 I think it has to Enigma Parfum.

Try the 2003 fumerie turque as well. I am using it. As well as the 2023 ecrin de fumee. All these are tobacco based frags from serge.
