Fun fact, in the manga Akainu blows part of whitebeard's face off, where it's only part of his mustache in this episode
But they added the hole on the chest in the anime, to have justifiable damage.

A lot of people seem to miss the detail, but back when Ace was fighting Blackbeard. Blackbeard mentioned that even though his darkness is considered a logia, he can't avoid hits like other logias. In fact his devil fruit actually makes him absorb more damage than it should. This is the reason why you always see blackbeard freaking out whenever he gets hit by anything.

Maybe your mods have told you, but Akainu's real name is Sakazuki. He can be seen in Robin's flashback on Ohara. He's the one who ordered the navy ships to fire on the civilian escape ship in order to make sure that all the scholars were dead. Just added trivia in case you missed it.

Allona, I know you're at the latest episode, but if you haven't got your explanation on how Blackbeard arrived, the anime actually tweak a little. Bon Clay actually didn't destroy the console in the control room. In the manga, he told the operator to open and shut once Luffy and gang passed through.
Thus, Blackbeard was able to come to Marineford as well. I guessed you know Bon Clay is still alive just because Magellan had to go deal with Blackbeard pirates and instead got beaten near death state.

But Whitebeard is the truth and one hell of a parent and I totally agree with you that Whitebeard gave Luffy his blessing to go for the mighty one piece. I told you we'll get satisfaction from Akainu death I can't tell you how good it felt to see him fall. But it was hard to watch Whitebeard die standing up. But that shows you how much pride he had. RIP Whitehead and RIP Ace their deaths won't be in vain. I hope Blackbeard gets what he deserves and that's a great ass whopping and more. Anyway I really enjoyed your reaction and I hope you're okay after this and let's hope Sanji and the others reach Luffy soon because he really needs them too

Akainu is in his prime now. He is the one of the strongest marines right now. (Upto this marineford war..) Garp was on par with Gol D. Roger when he was in his prime. But still his power levels are not yet fully revealed. I feel it is gonna be a tough fight. ( Akainu has got Advantage because of his Magma Df)
bruh it never was stated that Garp is the most powerful Marine during the war nor that he was on par with Roger. It already took prime Garp and Sengoku to beat Shiki who was weaker than Roger

Whitebeard is absolutely incredible. Akainu tried to make it seem like he was trash and completely washed, but then in his final moments of life it looked like he put the fear of God in that admiral's heart. Blackbeard is definitely one of the grimiest in One Piece, but I have to admit I respect his plan of achieving Shichibukai status just to get into Impel Down and collect the nastiest most despicable human beings for his crew and then throw the title away in front of the Fleet Admiral on Navy HQ. He is a filthy, over confident coward though. I'm glad Whitebeard put the fear of God into him to before he died. The will of D is one of the greatest mysteries. I think at this point, you know as much as anyone else about it outside the theory crafters that piece together bits of obscure info to learn even the slightest bit more. I get chills every time they describe Whitebeard's injuries and then talk about how he never received one wound on his back. I can only hope to gain that much tenacity during my living years in general, let alone in my final moments.

Just a reminder that during Blackbeard's fight with Ace, he mentioned a major weakness of his devil fruit ability is that he takes more damage than normal. Despite being a Logia type, he isn't intangible like the rest of them. And since his devil fruit has a gravitational effect like a black hole, he draws attacks in quicker o him, thus taking more damage. So that's why whenever he gets hit, he's always in major pain.
If I'm not mistaken he does take less damage don't he? He just feels more pain. If it's purely the latter holy sh*t what a drawback lol

There is a 'new' character that will suffer a lot more over Aces death then Ruffy.
This person lost all the memory and hearing Aces death and read the news, bring back all the memories of Ace back. Because this person lost all the memori, it never had any chance to talk or to play with Ace while they grew older and travel into the sea. It also didn't know that Ace thought, that this person, who was Aces best friend, was still alive ofer all those years.
Ruffy in other hand, saw Ace many times and even was on his side as he died. When the person new about Aces situation, it would travel all the way to Ace and support Ruffy and Whitebeard. They probably could even saved Ace, because this person and his fellows are really strong.
But without memories, there was no other way. Only Aces death was the key to bring back the memory of Ace and all the childhood life.
