Glow sticks are not poinsous my friend ate one when he was 3 but his throat was glowing
I cut them open and used them as body paint- didn't even need a black light. That was in '88, and I'm not dead yet.
i ate one when i was 3 as well and im not dead, but they are pretty toxic.

Gabriella Laurent, if you’re using glow sticks, you don’t need a black light.
Edit: if you’re following this tutorial and using pens, I think you would need a black light.
Edit: after you activate a glow stick, there are bits of glass you have to be careful with inside of it. We were a bit reckless in the 80s.
I tasted one by Accident it was horrible it tasted Like Toxic I spited it out fast then Puted water on my mouth then spitted it out
Looks great! i have a glass that contained devils blood, a strong alcohol and the bottle it came in looks like a glass claw holding a potion. The thing itself is way too good looking to throw away. Yellow/green glowing works amazing as it looks like demon blood from world of warcraft. Would be very nice to have that on a shelf. Great tutorial, thanks!
My friend ate a green one and i was sleeping over so when we went to sleep i saw this little green light coming from my friend and he was glowing green i started laughing silently i was so funny😂😂😂😂

Those look great! We did a black light party for my kid's birthday a few months ago and we found tonic water also glows really well. We tried mixing it with 7-up for a fun glow drink but it tasted horrible!! It looked cool in glasses lined up on the bar, though.

Well if you're only doing this for Halloween for a few hours, glow sticks are probably fine. If you're doing this on a regular basis, or for some other room-decoration project then yeah you'd be correct. My kitties tend to run and hide during Halloween anyway.

I think it would be really cool if you had one of those little water fountains that you plug into the wall inside your bedroom or living room and you pour this water in it so the water glows throughout the fountain
I did this many years ago, and it worked great. Except for the fact that you could also see the water splashing outside of the fountain. LOL. My fountain was flawed. HAHA.

Hey Troy, great video. Question, can you try acrylic paint like you get in the craft stores. I would like to do something like this in a fountain that would require a couple gallons of water.
That's one thing that I forgot to mention in this tutorial. This is safe to use in fountains and with water pumps. If you ever used a spray bottle with paint in it, you find that the bottle soon stops working. Using paint in a fountain motor is not advised.

Yes, Jennifer. It will stain any surface just as any highlighter marker would. It lasts indefinitely, as long as the black light is on it.
Have you ever tried the ultraviolet leak detection fluid that you put in car ac units when there's a leak in the system? I bet that stuff will make water glow really good. Also you will have more fluids to work with then just a highlighter.
No, I have not tried that. My goal when I originally discovered this some years ago, was to make water glow in a fountain so that it would not hurt the pump. Now that I've incorporated into Halloween, I want to make sure that what I do is non toxic.
We get our markers from dollar tree.. Super cheap and great effect!
Maybe Office Depot is the better bargain? - 5 for just under $4. Unless the dollar tree sells them in packs of 2 for a buck? Depending on how much water you use determines how many markers you may need. :)
