Momo has been very open about what they put her through (and what she put herself through). Luckily for everyone, Momo got herself under control before she developed a permanent eating disorder or, worse, became a statistic. These young ladies did not lead charmed lives, _especially_ as trainees.

I remember once Momo told Tzuyu to get the haircut Tzuyu wanted because she did that too and the agency didn't like it but it was her life, she would do whatever she wanted to. Momo's personality is quite clear and sharp. Very much respect for this aspect of hers.
Dubu is so honest about it saying she doesn't want to remember those days, we can only imagine the struggles they had to be where they are rn. It must be hard for them to answer fan questions about their trainee days.
Every single time I hear Momo's "ice cube" story I feel guilty for enjoying content that's only possible through shit like this. I really hope that one day the k-pop industry will be forced to reconsider these ridiculous body standards.
It's not bad to enjoy stuff like this. It's only bad if you enjoy it while choosing to be ignorant and idle towards its darker side. We use and enjoy a whole lot of stuff that's "wrong" in a way. Meat, cars, electricity etc. We're not wrong for liking these things. We only make ourselves part of the problem if we accept everything the way it is without actively helping it improve if improvement is necessary. Enjoy Kpop as much as you want. But if you hear stories about idols suffering etc., don't sit on your hands with your head turned away. Be part of the ever growing crowd that pushes for an overhaul. That's how all change always starts: with people getting louder until they can no longer be ignored.
I know, how do they expect them to have the energy to train hard everyday for 10+ hours on crumbs

i actually relate to sana strategy a lot. especially when learning english or chinese. when my tutor start her godzilla mode i just put an innocent face and start "eh?" "sorry?" and eventually she will help XD

5:25 this is my first time seeing Momo tell her story to her group mates. Honestly, I find their reactions more disturbing than the story itself. It’s scary to see dangerous dieting or eating disorders being normalized.
I’m not mad at them, but I do pray for them. They’re working in a system that they have no control over. Also knowing that Mina and Jeongyeon would take time off for mental health reasons make this clip age even worse.
Same, when I first saw momo's story and the reaction of the others, as if it's something admirable and amazing I was like "tf is wrong with them!?" how can anyone be laughing and praising this shit?
at the same time, the company was enforcing the diet, and since the members are part of the company, what can they say? they’d probably get in trouble if they reacted negatively- it is disturbing tho that diets like that are glorified

@@n.6353 jihyo said she thought Momo was amazing, and Jeongyeon said that Momo had a strong will. Yes, they were shocked, but it seemed like they were impressed more than appalled.
That's why when asked if they can go back to the past and undergo the trainings again, most of them said no and they would also prohibit their future children go to these trainings. That's how traumatic it was.
I can understand that they would be hesitant to let their future children become trainees, but in the end, a person ought to be able to pursue their dreams. If such a child wants to, his/her parents could warn them, but they shouldn't force them not to do something (unless it's immoral or illegal).
@@amurizon i mean if we’re being honest, most kpop training system are immoral and some of them are illegal (think SA, debt, etc) i agree parents should support their kids dream, but it’s very understandable the ones who discourage it.
I remember reading years ago that JYP spent a bunch of money on a cafeteria that would have healthy tasty food for people at the company and he said his artist’s health was the number one priority. It’s interesting to see the girls talking about being banned from even going to the cafeteria if they were put on a super strict diet. And Momo being told to lose that much weight in a week is CRAZY! She almost killed herself, she said she was afraid of not waking up when she went to sleep, that is so sad. I hope they’re all happier and healthier now.
Yeah JYP himself cares alot for the idols, he shows it all the time. It's the company as a whole that did the whole Momo weight thing. While JYP doesn't haven't control over twice, he's still an important mentor to them.

@@user-oi9ej8bk4v he used to have more power but these days he's more like a producer and face of the company. The investors hold the power and the higher staff. He is definitely not excused though.

Stoopid JYPE for putting Momo through that experience. She really is the best girl. She deserves the world.
They really have been through so much, but managed to make it to where they are today. They definitely deserve all their success.

Hearing Momo’s story was really heartbreaking. I hope they change this policy permanently. All these trainees and future Idols have been working their butts off and dedicated their lives into Debuting but there has to be a line. I know, it’s an industry standard but it shouldn’t be. To think they were practically Kids or Teenagers. If they needed to hit a certain standard, the company should help them not leave them to their own devices. I’m just super glad Momo is well but that was really tough to know she went through all that.
It broke my heart too :( momo was so young at the time and even though she’s able to talk about it casually and almost jokingly, when you develop eating habits like that, they stay in the back of your head forever. She looks so healthy these days and I know that she’s taking care of herself, which makes me happy. But how could anyone every look at momo and tell her that she needs to lose 7kg? And not feel like a terrible person?? That’s insane.

unfortunately it's in the DNA of not the kpop entertainment industry but any entertainment industry throughout all of history throughout the world. That's something that'll never change sadly

i've always heard stories about jihyo's dieting days but never momo's.... (both are equally sad) it's crazy how casually she can retell the story about how she almost died with a smile on her face. believe it or not, but these girls are most definitely traumatized and are hopefully seeking help

Heart wrenching Momo story aside, Tzuyu and Chaeyoung's conversation was cute. Those two now are close, but it's amazing that even while filming Sixteen they didn't really talk much. Still, they probably where just two trainees out of many back then, so there was no telling who you'd end up being paired with (if you'd even be paired up with anyone.)
What i loved about Tzuyu and Chaeyoung's convo is when Tzuyu explained how hard Dayhun was trying to communicate with her in Chinese. I always commend a person for trying to reach out in another persons language as it can feel uncomfortable and weird if you're not fluent in it. She still tried regardless of if she might sound weird. That's so unbelievably precious to me 🥲
omg the fact that they introduced a "card system" to monitor trainees' food intake should be criminal. such a high end company but they can't even hire proper dietitians and trainers to help the girls get fit
Once Momo retires, I won't be even the slightest bit of mad if she ate a "ton" of jokbal, she deserves it.
Why does Momo have to wait until she retires? She is probably eating it even now. Momo does not hold back when it's food. 😅
She said in one of their latest reaction videos that it's no longer her favorite. She likes yam more now. She said she is a yam fairy now.

Being twice is not easy , those scary and painful trainy days stories prove that.
They deserve every bit of success they have achieved till now .
In any other environment, this would be considered child abuse. But because they signed contracts and are 'working toward greatness' and prevailed to obtain a happy ending, it's laughed off and considered simply part of the process. What these girls, and the industry as a whole, refuse to talk about are the countless young girls who don't succeed and instead suffer from the consequences of such a rigorous and harmful procedure across years of their life. Those same girls who become part of terrible statistics after being literally trained to dislike the way their body naturally looks. People involved are too comfortable in their success, and some of the fans/audience are too forgiving of abuse's continuation. Putting yourself on the brink of death, or in any extremely unhealthy state, is not worth any fame that might be attributed to it - certainly not for children/teenagers. Believing otherwise feels more like brainwashing or willful ignorance than honest discourse.
The fact JYPE promotes themselves as the company that treats their idols fairly... Banning girls from eating at the cafeteria? Making girls lose 7kg in one week? Did they know this would lead to them being afraid they wouldn't wake up in the morning? Did they know it would almost kill these girls?? It sickens me they went through all this just to entertain people. It's even worse that I keep eating up this content that thrives off of terrible mental health. I really hope one day these companies will come to their senses and start letting idols eat. Or take breaks. Or even have time for mental health:(

my respect for these girls just get bigger everytime i learn more about them. the personal growth it took for them to do all those hard and extreme diets and be able to talk about it to fans. sp for Momo who shared about her ice cube diet and laugh about it after. its a sensitive topic after all. and i love how Dahyun just honeslty said it was just so stressful for her so she avoids the topic. bc it probably really was.

Often they will "fail" someone just to get them to work harder and stay on their toes so to speak..They worry trainees will become complacent if they pass something Everytime..

@@tommyo2450 Reminds me of how Jihyo got bumped down to the "Minor" category on Sixteen despite being Jihyo. JYP had already known her for years and I think he held her to a higher standard because he KNEW her potential and didn't want her to get complacent again (I heard it happened before and was why she didn't debut earlier)
These training sessions do not even pass a children's rights test, they are literally torture, forcing a skinny girl to lose 7 kilos in a week or else she cannot realize her dream and suffer is sadism.
From what I've heard, some of the worst Pop agency practices have been legally banned in Japan, but not in Korea. As bad as JYPE has been, they don't hold a candle to SME's depravity -- _that_ company has a literal body count. Also, one hopes JYPE is moving in the right direction, as they allowed Twice to be open about Mina & Jeongyeon.

Diet doesn't work but cutting the sugar and carbohydrates (white rice) mainly surgery drink in daily meal will help reduce the fat in the body. Sugar from fruit are healthy and take longer to digest or burn off vs refined sugar are easy to digest and absorb straight to the blood stream given quick boost "sugar rush or high and crash after" if not burn off it will stored in the fat cells weight gain. So best is to eat fruits and not soda....

If I remember it right, if a trainee did something wrong or against the rules,they are ban to go to jyp building for a given time.. I think dahyun said that before
