Love love love it, definitely going to try it out :) Small question, I tried your technique of glueing small strips of foam to help keep the shape but it didn't work, is it because the foam need to be high density? I think I used a 1mm foam.
Yeah having a higher density foam will definitely help also when you bend your foam you want to over bend it when the strip is added because it will bounce back some
i love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am probably going to ad 2 full horns on it because i like this design more then president loki's so yea ITS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks! If you’re going to be doing a lot of foam work you should invest in a rotary tool. Even if you don’t get a Dremel I did a review on a pretty cheap one m.ruclips.net/video/7j1b0dTu2y8/видео.html
Amazing tutorial! Loving the free templates! Quick question tho, I cut the pieces out of foam but the edges don’t look so good- it’s a lot of small pieces that makes the crown to not look as good… any ideas of how to fix it?
This is my first time making anything like this. Thank you so much do the tutorial. I did have a questions. I am having trouble having the horns to stick using the cement glue you have in your tutorial. It just won’t stick to gather. Any thoughts on why it won’t work for me. I even try is using gorrilla glue for foam and it won’t work. Thank you for your help.
If necessary I apply 2 thin layers of the glue depending on humidity. Wait for it to become tacky or speed up the dry with a hairdryer. Once tacky it should hold together fine. Gorilla glue is not good superglue use Bob smith or loctite professional series.
I wish I was this talented and creative ;-; Where do I start to begin with by learning all of this? And what materials did you use in this video?🙊 I love it só much!!!😍❤
hi! this is a great tutorial, thank you for making it! i've never made something like this before so i don't have a dremel for carving, i was wondering if i'd do fine without it?
You’re welcome! You don’t have to have a Dremel specifically you can get any rotary tool I did a review on my channel for one that’s only $20. But if you plan on doing foam work you should invest in sometype of rotary tool
It needs to dry for a couple of minutes until it becomes tacky or you can speed that up with a hairdryer The glue bonds as soon as it’s pressed together it is instant
Thanks so much for this great tutorial. I’m new to this and your guide is so helpful. Qq - why use the different types of glue? There’s three in the parts list. I have the contact cement, any reason not to just use that for all the steps
I always use different types of adhesives or my double adhesive method. especially superglue on small parts and exterior pieces because heat from a heat gun can make contact cement fail. Also using multiple glues results in a cleaner build than using contact cement on all of it
If you are going to be doing more foam work you really need to invest in a rotary tool, it is pretty crucial to to the process and you can buy them pretty cheap online. I did a review of a $20 one last year
First off, this looks amazing. My daughter and I are planning on Loki this year. As I'm a moron who's never worked with foam like this in the sense of heating and gluing, etc (my foam use is typically to make domino masks or basic Scarlet Witch style pieces or straps/belts/etc, I'm looking forward to trying this but also apprehensive. Is there anything you or anyone can offer in the way of advice, particularly with regards to gluing the horn pieces together as I've never worked three dimensionally. Thanks and, again, these look great. Stay safe, be well.
This looks great! It looks a little wide on your daughter’s face, and I have a narrower face as well. Is there a specific way you would you recommend tweaking the pattern to better fit my face? Thanks!
Yeah it was designed more for an adult. there are two ways - scale it down 5% or print it normal if the height is good then trim about a 1/4" or so from the middle and tape it back together
I don’t think they would have been very practical in combat scenes. Just like Ashokas lekku in mandalorian they had to shrink things down to work in the real world

Depends on the foam if you use mine “maybe” because of it being a higher density it’s easier to manipulate, you can even roll my foam with your hands in a 4 or 6mm. otherwise you will need a heat gun luckily they are pretty cheap online or at harbor freight. Just make sure to wear a respirator when heating and sanding foam
Hairdryers don't work that great for foam, I've tried it and it works somewhat okay on really thin foam (like 1-2 mm) but anything thicker than that isn't great. Last time I actually held it over a stove burner (electric stove, I'd never attempt it with gas) with a pair of tongs and that worked really well, you just have to be 1) careful not to burn yourself, and 2) have good reflexes because the foam will start to go floppy/melt really quickly. If you're planning on doing lots of work with foam, a heat gun is probably gonna be your best bet, there's cheap ones for like $20. And as SKS said, wear safety stuff. I don't notice any sort of fumes from heating it (doesn't mean it's not there though), but sanding it is a mess and you 100% need a respirator and glasses.
