What really impresses me about FZD is his sheer power without sacrificing reliability. He's so refined, agile and nimble yet delivers each stroke with such strength. Samsonov is a consistent player with fantastic blocking abilities. Despite his age, he continues to manage to give a hard time to other players. But here, we have witnessed FZD clearly performing at another level vs. Samsonov.

Whenever I see Fan zhendong's overwhelming dominance like this, I then think about how ridiculous it is that Ma Long is able to beat him consistently, like 17 times in a row or something (other than the 2016 China Open, bc Ma Long didn't get to train much after the Olympics). I don't think it's technique that separates Ma Long and FZD, but rather his understanding of spin/trajectory/placement. But wow, I seem to recall FZD beating Vladi pretty badly in the 2013 German Open, but 5 years down the road - total destruction

We all love Vladi.. how one can not do it? But that is a massacre! Vladi tried all his tricks, and what is lefs with is a straight 4-0... And that's even more critical for EU tt, since Vladi still represents the best level there, so... that's the humiliating gap between China and EU at the moment. Credit to FZD anyway... he managed to become that killing machine he promised to be!

Amazing match. Fan Zhengdong is so superb quick . Samsonov does not have the natural agility as Fan Zengdong, but his smart playing style, which is based on accuracy and potional playing, always loads full performance of his opponents . Very enjoyable and high class match ! !
Speed of ball is so fast to watch ! It is better, if the speed of ball will be smaller. Needed some modifications on balls to take more role of air to slow down balls. For example, apply lighter weight balls.

Samsonov needs that extra gear, that extra aggression, but sadly there is no more. Fan Zhendong is simply the complete player, totally reliable and irrepressible. Samsonov's blocks and touch are superb, but the physical ability is not there to compete with Fan. Samsonov's game is too passive against someone like Fan who can attack at will and keep it going.
