The story of his playing/singing this song for his grandmother, in her sunset time, because it was her and her departed husband's special song, makes this one even more special. Tim is not only a brilliant musician from the standpoint of musical output; he also captures and affects mood and sentiment like few others can. Since Home Free has several members with this gift, their potential impact on the emotions of their audiences is huge - as no doubt you have noticed. Fortunately, they use this wonderful gift for positive messages and good cheer.
This was one of my favourite Elvis songs and I'm so glad you did Tim's version. He did an incredible job on this one. Thanks for your reaction and I greatly appreciate the details you point out...it helps me understand why their music is so much better than others.
One of our generations VERY BEST singers, and combine him with the other beautiful voices on Home Free, it's an absolutely sublime couple of minutes of music. I believe he made this recording a nymber of years ago just as his grandmother was getting near the end, and this was her favorite song...what a good grandson !!
Such a beautiful rendition of this classic song. I think Tim did an outstanding job on it. He kept it simple with just the piano accompaniment which he is playing. He balanced his higher & lower range perfectly without overdoing it. I just love his voice. He has such a smooth breathy quality. Elvis would have been proud.
Tim recorded this in his 20's. Was so good then and way better now. Was his GF's, at the time, grandmother's favorite song. When they visited she would take his hand and lead to the piano to play. She was a huge Elvis fan. Now days everyone is a fan of his version. He has done an updated version but think it on his Patreon page only.
Oh, I love what Tim has done with this. His run embellishments are so nimbly woven in, not like some that flippety-flop all over the place all convoluted and distracting. I'm another who instantly thought you would probably love Diana Ankudinova's cover and searched your vids to see if you had reacted to her before. But I wanted to really enjoy this one first, before commenting.
The first time I heard this piece was in the movie The Heiress with Montgomery Cliff and Olivia Delavan. It was just the instrumental piece. Next up, Elvis Presley. But honestly, Tim Foust owned this. My first experience with Tim Foust. Such an amazing artist.
Tim sang and played this because he said it was a favorite song of his grandmother, which goes with the intimate take of this classic. My favorite version of Tim’s original song I’ve Seen is my favorite performance of all time on The Sing Off. I love it because, it was the only time Tim and my favorite tenor Chris Rupp shared lead vocal during the season. ruclips.net/video/GiGdthpNGKc/видео.html Tim just released his cover of Will You Still Love Me/Stay so good. Thank you for your awesome reactions.
Thank you Thank you Thank you!! His tone on this one had me floored! You would never guess by his tenor tone here that he can do some serious dragon breaths! 😃 I knew you wouldn't be disappointed. And yes, he plays the piano here, too.
Great reaction, thank you! Love this version by Tim! Home Fry to the core, but also a Diana Ankudinova fan, her version is totally different and stunning!
Loved Elvis since I was a little kid and I am normally quite "allergic" to covers of his songs, so I was slightly hesitant to listen to it the first time, but loving HF and all their solo ventures too, I gave it a shot. Tim's version is breathtaking beautiful! The man has such a warm, soothing rich timbre.
I love this song by Elvis and couldn't imagine any singer coming close to it. But Tim did an outstanding job. His talent is unique, his voice as clear to the point, as dark liquid chocolate 😘 This song has made him one of my favorite singers. His vocal range and control are phenomenal. Good reaction Chris!
@@tassilo5949 no one in the world sounds as unique as Diana, the polyphonic combination of 2 octaves with their resonating with each other, and just as two waves touch, creating a rich pattern - interference, these waves amplify and complement each other. After Diana's voice, other voices sound depleted, as if the stereo sound is turned off and switched to mono sound. But of course, tastes are a matter of habit and perception.
@@tassilo5949 I agree. Diana is an amazing talent and I am a fan of hers. However, I prefer Tim's version. His voice does something to me that I can't explain, if that makes sense. He could sing the phonebook and I would listen to every word.
A trait that Tim has that's not often found, is his ability to have such a gentle, breathy tone while hitting such low notes. And then to have that same ability in a much higher range makes it even more special. So many singers have to push hard to get those notes and it can sound very strident, so I really appreciate such a relaxed, soft tone, only adding extra fullness when he wants it. Great reaction!
Great reaction! Yes he was playing the piano too. Absolutely beautiful! The only other version besides Elvis on my playlist. I love it so much, I put on my list with the King. Thank you for your reaction!
It’s so beautiful. Tim’s range is sick. He sang this for his grandma as this was one of her favorite songs. He taught himself piano too I believe. He does a Doo Wop song mash up that’s incredible too. Will You Still Love Me/Stay…you can see him do it. He sings every part. Good reaction Chris!
Absolutely Beautiful Job by Tim!!!! Thanks for reacting Chris!!! Can you imagine if they were ever to join up and do some ideas they've got cooking?!!! Tim and Geoff!!!
Thank you Chris for reacting to this absolutely beautiful song. Along with so many others I think Tim did a wonderful job with his take on the song. First time I heard him sing this song it blew me away. Love it! Thanks again.
Hi Chris 😊 I subscribed to your channel yesterday based on your Home Free reactions I have seen so far. I love the way you break down the music and voices ♥️ I am a singer myself and really enjoy learning new things. This one from Tim was very special❣️ Love, love his voice and range.
You have taught me so much about music Chris! I've always been a music lover but I listen to it differently now...I hear so much more than I used to. Keep up the good work, love your reactions and analysis! And Tim's voice is absolutely beautiful!
If you've not reacted to VoicePlay's cover of this same song, you definitely should! BTW, you have a very nice tenor voice! We need to hear some covers from you, my friend!
Loved this performance. Chris if you love breathiness in a voice then you need to listen to Angelina Jordan. One vocal coach said it is like she has a dial on just how much breathiness she wants for each and every note. Angelina keeps getting better hitting higher notes but has always, seemingly from birth, has had a strong lower register with the most beautiful tone I have ever heard.
Seriously? And pass by the most unique voice of our time? She is called the queen of goosebumps, a unique voice - contralto with polyphonic overtones. Younger Timothy's range was in full view even back then. But now with his Do Whop album.....extremely impressive.

I love his version so much. He was accompanying himself on the piano.
That was Tim playing the piano, as well. 😉
Tim did the arrangement of this song. His grandmother's favorite.

This cover performed by *Diana* *Ankudinova* sounds like an independent work!
Tim was training as a tenor when his voice changed later than usual
I think Elvis would be impressed 😁
Tim is contrasting heavy block cording with his piano, with an airy vocal to contrast the emotions in the lyrics.
There is an actually video of this.
😍✌🏼
watch this one from Diana Ankudikova !!!
I won't swear to it, but I think Tim was the one playing the piano.
Would you say he's using that breathiness-to-full voice to build the song since he is the only one singing?
It's quite possible. Especially when you're the only one singing, you want to have that texture and musicality to build the song and tell a story.
